Love that, thank you! I rescued a sodden black cap on the deck of an English Channel ferry during storms. We carried her through France to catch up with her buddies, awesome how a wild bird trusts and wants to be with a human in times of need.
I love how the bird just accepts his fate and understands that he's getting helped. I would think they would be so terrified they wouldn't cooperate, but he seems to settle right in
They tend to figure it out quick. I was helping a bird I found in a glue trap meant for rats, it was freaking out for a minute but then just rested and accepted that I was not trying to harm it. Sat still for the next few minutes while we snipped away some of the stuck feather ends and gently unstuck his little feet
When I trap cats to spay, vaccinate and release the cats go insane. Glad the birdie didn't fly around hitting walls and getting hurt. Calm gets you warm and fed and free to live another day. 💕🐥
It's not accepting help it's too exhausted to do anything else. Even humans have a hard time understanding when other humans help them don't expect birds to
Humans are luckily at the size where if we aren't trying to actively eat them, they we know we aren't a threat. It's like a bear, it's just not worth the risk of a scratch if you aren't desperate So the little critters don't really worry about us once they see we aren't
The fact that you would bring a vessel to a complete full stop, to pick up this minuscule little animal shows the genuine compassion and love of all things nature you have. You and your crew are a precious resource in short supply.
@Dayna Keim I don't think he filmed this for clout, it happens so often, why not let the world know this happens? I spend a good portion in the Northeast, between Maine and CT..... All sorts of animals hop aboard slow moving vessels, like otters, seals, tired birds of prey. Even had a whale calf use the boat as cover by sandwhiching it self between the boat and his mother, I thought it was wierd... till I looked about a thousand feet out and saw the pod of Orcas stalking closely. A fisherman about 3 docks over was always with a cat, sat down with him one day, since he was having lunch. The cat wasn't his, it didn't stay on the boat or go home with him. The cat merely shows up every morning at the Crack of dawn and waits for him by the dock. He said the cat chases seagulls away, and when he gets back to port, the cat gets a fish. It casually walks into the forest at the end of the day with fish in its mouth.
It's crazy. They usually do. Birds like turn tame when they realize your trying to help them. Most will perch on your finger and everything. I've helped a lot of them. And all became friendly like this video. It's awesome!
Little birds like that are typically terrified of everything because everything is trying to either eat it or steal it's home. Being rescued and allowed to recover it's so cool to see it immediately recognize there's no danger ❤
The sound is on all The time so anyone would Get used to it worst case just annoyed about it. And ion think birds Get traumatized The same way humans do becaue we got a much more complicated brain.
Scientists have made a fascinating discovery about the way animals in the wild let go of fear and stress. Because they are able to release it and move on, they are free of PTSD like symptoms. Without this ability in the wild, they would wander around shut down, uptight or confused . . . and they would not survive long. And this is what i read now but who knows its interessting its not just to dissagree with you. Often when i argue i want people to learn shitt they didn’t knew but its often hard to say Whats real or not when you just Google something read The first anwer or hear from people.
It’s always hilarious and heartwarming the way you can see an animal go from being afraid instinctually and thinking they’re being attacked by a predator to realizing that that the giant bald monkey actually just wants to give them food and maybe some pets
Ape but yes this is amazing Edit: thanks for the replies educating me about a few things, this comment was just a friendly correction and not meant to be rude.
Yeah hate to break it to ya, but thats 100% an animal in survival mode not making a friend. They come to their wild senses if you leave them alone for a while and once they do, no amount of water or food will get that bird to trust that "hairless monkey" again.
@@GuitarSlayer136 That highly depends on the animal. I'm not sure if you live outside a city or not, but I do and have made some anecdotal observations that I then researched (On the internet lmao, I obviously didn't do any research myself, just read studies) out of interest. Foxes and rabbits have always been the weirdest examples to me. I have walked right up to several baby foxes and rabbits before, they're very cautious, but not scared. I've never seen an adult rabbit that isn't scared, but adult foxes, while still cautious, have still been unafraid in my experience. I've never tried, but I think I could probably get a fox to take food from my hand. As far as them learning to trust humans, ever notice that rabbits in town are way less scared than rabbits in the country? It's because they've been around more humans and have learned that most of us don't pose a threat

Yeah, is very comforting and heartwarming, because many times you see how they are helping X animal and the animal doesn’t understand it at all and ends up leaving like if you were planning to eat them or terrified, maybe the animal later realize, maybe don’t, maybe some understand but are simply to wild to show us signs that we can interpret easily. How does saving a bird make him a man when a female can do it? With your logic, him saving a bird can make him a female too, right?
@@MarkelBeverley Oh I see You want to turn it into a gender roles conversation? As a psychologist, is that a little narcisstic? I mean it was a compliment to our lobster man for being a caring person. Should that conversation, that complement of his kindness, no matter how it is delivered, be diverted to a topic of your interest-- gender roles and/Or nomenclature in this case.? And then with gender traits, we often see a lot of toxic masculinely here in the states, with rigidity in perceptions around masculine character traits....this was a remark about this lobster man's exemplified compassion, curiousity, the imagination he brings to his profession, and to life in general, not about his ability to save the bird. I wonder, when compassion and similar character traits are complimented in men, and referred to as a part of their masculinity, isn't that a net positive for feminism and our culture overall? Doesnt this complement reflect an evolution, a softening of that toxicity? Isn't that the evolution of emotional and cultural equality that leads to economic parity?
@@hereholdthiswillya No, you don't see anything but your distorted "anti-female" interpretation of my comment 🤣and point of view regarding men and masculinity. You have a preconceived notion of what a man is so you interject your warped idea of what a man "should be", ignoring the fact that the societal demands of men and women are vastly different, which is largely rooted in biology rather than social constructionism. You would have taken that into consideration if you weren't such a narcissist. Psychopaths can often love animals more than humans. Did you know that? Kindness, compassion, courageousness, and stoicism are usually considered the same, but they are NOT the same. Earl Haas, was not "nice". What he did was out of a sense of duty which made him courageous! "Kind" men were those who spoke against REAL mistreatment of women BY PARTICULAR MEN and did nothing. A man saving a bird does NOT make him a caring person. Let's address what you stupidly assumed my initial comment was about ... GENDER ROLES (because you defend a self-contradicting form of feminism that demeans the masculinity of which women are the main beneficiaries and that teaches women to exhibit the very "toxic masculine behavior" they claim to hate) Gender roles exist! Pay attention to every societal break down scenario (ei. natural disasters, war, etc.) and it is crystal clear. Not "an evolution..softening of toxicity"🙄 as if the men who died of deceases working day in and day out in cold mines to feed their family's in the early 20th century didn't "care" about their wives and children. 🤦🏽♂ Was it because they didn't save a bird??? You came with a illogical idea of masculinity which relegated your conclusion of men AND MY COMMENT to an extremely uneducated opinion. Lastly, a free market economic system is based on supply and demand!!! There will NEVER be an "equal economy" without unlawful and unethical force. And it still will NOT be equal!! The wage gap has been debunked a million times. Women get paid less because they take more days off work, don't argue for higher wages, they are LESS IN DEMAND ( women's sports), and work less dangerous jobs. Women will protest to be a CEO in a building, but not to be the plumber. So again, how did this make him a real man?
Funny thing… there’s more people like this than the bad people, but the new and internet only like to showcase the bad people so we think the world is all bad.
Ppl say that a lot. I disagree to an extent. I myself am an absolute lover of animal life. Ill try to help an animal in need if it will allow me, and ill defend an animal that a person abuses. He had no choice. Then it was warm and pleasant. Much better than cold wind and cold water. When you’ve got that kind of situation, the oldest wisdom kicks in. “Well, we will see how this goes.” Animals can be broken. But usually they’ll keep on living as long as it’s possible. It’s one of the things this world forces and enforces. Those who live, make the next who live. Those are slightly modified images of the former. Including behavior. Watch feral cats vs socialized. Much is instinct. But much is behavior that’s taught. And hunger is a cruel teacher. The tracks these patterns leave in a species favor a certain level of persistence, and positive response to favorable stimulus. As we see here.

Some people are just naturally like this with animals and the animals seem to understand who that is 💚
It's not accepting help it's too exhausted to do anything else. Even humans have a hard time understanding when other humans help them don't expect birds to

To me it’s like they truly know we’re trying to help them.
It's so cute how calm the little guy is the entire time, good to know he knows he's safe.
Humans are luckily at the size where if we aren't trying to actively eat them, they we know we aren't a threat.
It's like a bear, it's just not worth the risk of a scratch if you aren't desperate
So the little critters don't really worry about us once they see we aren't
The fact that you would bring a vessel to a complete full stop, to pick up this minuscule little animal shows the genuine compassion and love of all things nature you have. You and your crew are a precious resource in short supply.

@@dayinah no it's not a bad thing.

Scientists have made a fascinating discovery about the way animals in the wild let go of fear and stress. Because they are able to release it and move on, they are free of PTSD like symptoms. I've never tried, but I think I could probably get a fox to take food from my hand.

How does this make him a real man?
Oh Kevin, the exact same way your question let's us know you are not one. This man has a very lucky wife whereas your wife will suffer immeasurably.
@@hereholdthiswillya First, my name is not Kevin. lol And I'm 28 year old clinical psychologist. There is nothing you can say to me that can hurt me lol. I asked a legit question. How does saving a bird make him a man when a female can do it? With your logic, him saving a bird can make him a female too, right?
@@MarkelBeverley Oh I see
You want to turn it into a gender roles conversation?
Was it because they didn't save a bird???
