Hi Godfrey here from Torrevieja Spain loved the play along for dead flowers. I am 72 years old and the Rolling Stones have always been my favourite band from day one. Thankyou so much. I didn’t start playing the guitar until I was 60 years old just wish I had got into it in my earlier years.
Great song! Loved it when it first came out back in the day and love it still today. On Keith’s song opening D chord downstroke, he lifts his middle finger from the E string and it produces a haunting opening chord I’ve never forgotten and that’s how I like to open the song up with.
Shane you have to be the best acoustic guitar teacher on RUclips. No matter how complex or simple your lesson is, it is your strumming patterns that make the difference compared to other teachers! Cheers!👍👍
The play alongs are fantastic. You're exactly correct Shane. Playing alone for the past 1 year or so I've gotten in a lot of great practice, but my timing was off and I didn't even notice. The play alongs really help me focus on that. Thanks Shane. Kevin O'Rourke
I love your style, I think I will try to look at more of your lessons. This one is right in my wheelhouse for sure. I love the way you incorporate the lyrics...
Hi Shane. Awesome performance, and so helpful to us beginners. Thank you. Your teaching technique and enthusiasm is outstanding. Watched Dead Flowers after seeing a Stones concert on TV and wanted to learn it. After I found your video I just had to pick up my guitar and do it. Thanks again Les (age 73 living in UK)
Great work on this song Shane! I first became aware of "Dead Flowers" at a Steve Earle concert here in the U.K. back in 1988. Steve introduced the song saying "And here is a perfectly good British hillbilly song......" I found out later it was a Mick Jagger/Keith Richard song that had passed me by. Thanks for all your work giving us the best guitar tutorials. You and yours stay safe and well.
Love the stones. I was going to request this but figured you might've done it already as I haven't watched all your vids yet. Pink houses reminds me of this style stones
This is one of those songs where people hear it different. On the start I strum 3 times with the high E open & then I hammer on the 2nd fret on the 4th strum. We have a Hospice jam & some don't hear it.
Thanks for the great lesson. It is pretty quick for these old fingers so I use the "asterik" looking symbol in the lower right hand of the window. Clicking on that you can go into the Playback Speed and slow things down a bit. Makes Shane sound a little funny when he calls out the chords though. :) Thanks, again.
GREAT choice 😎👍 LOVE this particular tune for its guitar and poignant lyrics 😎👍 Take me down...😎👍 Thanks Shane !😎👍 By the way...This time of year here in NM. seems to open up my acoustics even though they all have humidifiers...? Louder and more clarity...? What are your thoughts up there in Canada? 😎👍❤🖖 Love Brother
Perhaps you can help. I use a chord that I have not found a name for as of yet. It is an open shape E major chord, but I add my pinky on the 4th fret of the high E string. Sometimes I mute the B string, sometimes not. But essentially its an E chord with a G# added on. So its E B E G# B G#(low to high)....but usually the B is muted (sounds better and easier to do). any idea what it may be called?
Hi DB - thanks for that. You would just call it an E chord. I know that might be a bit disappointing to hear but it really is just a plain old E chord. When you add the G# on the high string you are just doubling the 3rd of the chord which doesn't change the name. Cheers, Shane
Thank you Anton - all the best with it and I'm happy to have you here with us. I am using a drum machine pedal called BeatBuddy. I really love it. I have no affiliation with the company but I do recommend it for sure. Cheers, Shane
Sure thing - I have no affiliation with the company (but I would definitely like to have....) and I recommend it fully. It's a pedal on the floor called BeatBuddy. Cheers, Shane
Watched most of your videos (all great btw), but going with over caffeinated here as you don't seem like the type for cocaine. Definitely hyper mode for some reason.😃
Don't rate his tuition style, he garbles too quickly in speech...too hurried to get message across which is unhelpful to the beginner. Granted there are few chords, but it would be better if the sequence changes, eg for chorus were explained more clearly. Not one of the better tuition sites.

@@GuitarAtWork Cheers Shane all the best from the UK
I was just thinking recently that you haven’t done a Stones song yet, great choice!
Thanks Brent - I'm a big Stones fan. I think I did a video on Paint It Black a couple of years ago. I'll have to check. Cheers, Shane
@@GuitarAtWork Yeah, I just remembered that you did Paint it Black too! Another great song, you’ve done so many I’m starting to forget. 😊
Love your videos. Easy on the coffee for the next one ! :)
Ha! Thank you Todd...and you're right - I need to switch to half/caf or decaf. Best to you and glad to have you here with us. Cheers, Shane
Nice lesson. You know, you can get brewed decaf now. 😎
For sure Sax - ha! Cheers, Shane
Thanks man
I Love the slowed down version by Townes VanZant on The Big Labowski soundtrack.
Hi,
Can you tell me, how to use my beatbuddy for this song. ??? What settings etc. Greetz from holland
GREAT choice 😎👍
LOVE this particular tune for its guitar and poignant lyrics 😎👍

Thank you Richard - best to you! Great lyrics and to me it's the way that Mick stretches them out.....he's awesome. Cheers, Shane
what do you think of going ahead and using Electric Guitar for songs like this. Any tips to get a more accoustic-like tone?
You're fine to use an electric on this one Mathus - all good, Shane
Love your work and keep it up! Maybe because I’m from Texas, but decaf? ;-)
Ha! Thank you Aaron....yes, I normally make videos in the mornings after a couple of coffees......need to switch to decaf. Cheers! Shane
Can you share the BeatBuddy info in your tutorials? Thanks
Hi Mike, Sure thing - I'm just using the Blues 1 pattern that came preloaded on my BeatBuddy. Nothing fancy at all. Cheers, Shane
Perhaps you can help. I use a chord that I have not found a name for as of yet. It is an open shape E major chord, but I add my pinky on the 4th fret of the high E string. thanks for helping me resolve that. love your channel!
Shane, thanks for this lesson. Can you tell me which drummachine you use?
Thank you Anton - all the best with it and I'm happy to have you here with us. I am using a drum machine pedal called BeatBuddy. I really love it. I have no affiliation with the company but I do recommend it for sure. Cheers, Shane
Geat! A little bit talkie, but Stills great. Thank you.
I know you mentioned it before, but can you tell me about that drum machine you use? Seems very convenient. Thank you.
Sure thing - I have no affiliation with the company (but I would definitely like to have....) and I recommend it fully. It's a pedal on the floor called BeatBuddy. Cheers, Shane
Tell me your old school without telling me your old school...
Go ahead and stop tape there😅😅😅
Ha! True Mike - cheers! Shane
Fantastic job BTW
Man you talk fast, whew, reminds me of Johnny Fever saying Speed Kills 😂 it's informative though 😊
Watched most of your videos (all great btw), but going with over caffeinated here as you don't seem like the type for cocaine. Definitely hyper mode for some reason.😃
It's caffeine for sure man - it's different talking into cameras vs a real person in the room.....all good. Will slow it all down - Cheers, Shane
Lot of FUN and Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed! Shane
Wow this guy is wound
Mr Bojangles

Thanks Paul - Cheers, Shane
Hey Junior...Either you talk too fast ..or ..I listen too slow ..😀👍
Lay off the "coffee".
Why put quotes around the word coffee?
Slow down a bit, lad.
Don't rate his tuition style, he garbles too quickly in speech...too hurried to get message across which is unhelpful to the beginner. Granted there are few chords, but it would be better if the sequence changes, eg for chorus were explained more clearly. Not one of the better tuition sites.
Too much talk my son.
