Great Car! Looking forward to own one or an S8 V8 sooner or later! I noticed you are running on LPG, what brand of LPG system did you install? is the engine working fine? had any problems with the LPG? thanks a lot!
Hi @Mauro F! The V8 is a really smooth engine and the sound is a symphony. Hope you will call one your own very soon. The car had a Prins VSI system. Prins systems are generally very reliable if installed right. I had them also in two BMW 6 cylinders. The key is really to have a professional who installs it perfectly then you will have a car running for ages with a little bit of service every 1-2 years
Thanks a lot! Definitely agree with you about the installer! I had an audi A4 2.8 quattro tiptronic in the past and used to run on LPG, the brand of the system was BRC (Italian brand, being me in Italy) which was very reliable and had no issues at all in 6 years of ownership and lots of km! I know Prins, so I will consider that when I will buy the S4 or S8, as I would love to use it on a daily basis. Thanks again!
You are welcome. I know BRC. It seems very common in Italy. In Germany it‘s Prins. I think also if reselling it, Prins may achieve a higher price. Make sure the 4.2 you‘ll buy already had its chains changed. They can come very costly. If I’m not mistaking, about 4500€. A typical issue with this engine unfortunately. VW group never built a car with working chains… we had a Touran 1.4 and there also the chains broke and we had a capital damage of the engine.
15 second rule..budd...turn key on and wait..if u love your cam chains...if not maybe your bear can drive u home 1 day when your motor comes apart.cheers i have an avant v8
Doesn’t actually do anything for the timing chains. As someone mentioned the car doesn’t build oil pressure to tighten the tensioners until the engine is running
Totally true. When you drive the RS4 you immediately feel how different the suspension works. It feels way more agile, still you feel the extremely heavy V8.
Great review, I have the b6 s4 avant. Timing chain guide problems aside I think these are the best generation of S4
Thanks @C Cashin
