      Clyde!!!!!!!!!! Please forward to every member of Take 6. I have spent half my life transcribing their music. I would give my right arm to hook up with them

    Great Job Steve! I'd like to get my hands on one of these. Great keyboard playing and singing too. Love Take 6.

      Appreciate the kind words jazzman. There are a bunch of harmonizers on the market, but this one seems like the best bang for the buck. And if you choose a vocal type sound on your keyboard it really adds to the fatness of the overall sound.

      Yeah, we use the VoiceLive Play currently in our church services. I play keys and lead worship and my daughter uses the processor. We make a pretty good praise team. However, some of the harmonies don't quite catch up on time or sometimes they just get whack if my chords are too complicated. I think this will do us better being it's designed for keyboard and has midi control connectivity.

      @melodistman  7 лет назад +1

      The Midi connection is key. Without that the unit wouldn't be able to keep up and there would be latency issues as you mentioned. I can play some pretty complicated chords and this thing reproduces all the notes(vocally). Only limitation might be if I press the sustain pedal and do an arpeggio . . . after the tenth note or so it starts to cut out some of the notes I played first. Other nice thing about this unit, with my keyboard anyway, is that if I split my keyboard, then the TC Helicon only tracks the right hand, which is nice cause I don't need those low bass notes to muddy up the overall sound.

      Oh that's cool. Can you mix the level of keys to vocals? Like more vocals, or keys etc? I'd like to run both processors simultaneously and see what happens. It would be cool to hear multiple vocalists all with their own processor.

      You can do it. The keyboard stereo output(as well as one midi cable) goes into the TC Helicon, so if you need to adjust the keyboard level in relation to the vocals you do it with the volume control on the keyboard . . . adjust how much keyboard volume you're feeding the Helicon. You can also adjust the mic level on the Helicon, but on a gig if you need to do it quickly then adjusting the keyboard level is quicker.

    I can imagine doing some Steely Dan/Donald Fagen numbers with this. Nice demo. Hi from London UK.

      Sorry for the delayed reply Kick Biker! I play in a Steely Dan Tribute band as you might know, but haven't introduced the TC Helicon to the guys in that band. Don't want to rock the boat! LOL

    If you play live, and sending piano and vokal to the mixer from the tc-helicon vk. Kan ypu splitt the vokal from the piano? or is everything on the same track? I want to have the vokal at one track, and piano in the other, while playing live. Is that possiable?

    You mentioned you used a midi out into the VK... was there a midi channel assignment that you made for this or was it a plug n play type thing that was ready out of the box?

    • @melodistman
      @melodistman  6 лет назад

      Thanks for the inquiry. I'm using the CP4 digital piano so I did not have to dig into the keyboard and assign specific MIDI channels. Although with some of the synths and fancier keyboards you might have to do that? I think it would depend on the keyboard. Most keyboards probably default to MIDI channel 1.

    Hi thanks for the review, just a technical question: in MIDI note Mode, the "voices" sing right the notes you play on the keyboard, but how many voices Perform-VK can handle? In other words, which is the polyphony real-time availability in MIDI note Mode? Thanks a lot.

    • @melodistman
      @melodistman  6 лет назад +1

      Sorry for the delayed reply Adriano. I have never run into a situation where the TC Helicon could not handle all the notes being fed into it, although when you're playing more than 6 or 7 notes in a chord the overall sound can sometimes get a little muddy. It also depends on the keyboard mode. It tends to work better when the keyboard is not split into 2 different sounds.

    • @adrianocastaldini
      @adrianocastaldini 6 лет назад

      Thanks for your reply! The info about the split is very important. I'll test it. Perhaps I will have to use a splitted keyboard, but I think to use just 3 voices in that case.

    Melodistman, my VK unit is harmonizing in random scales. I’m playing a song in the key of C, but the VK actually is in the key of A. Got any thoughts on what adjustments I can make to remedy this problem?

      Thanks for the kind wordsTommy. I've been putting my blood into jazz harmony, music theory, chord voicings, arranging, for more years than I can count. The song is called 'If We Ever' from the debut album of the vocal group Take 6 from Huntsville Alabama(album released back in 1988). Since this video I've tweaked the TC Helicon even more to sound better. Someday I'll do another video. Best, S

      Lovely demo! I'm thinking of buying one for myself to reproduce some of that Jacob Collier sound. Could you do a little video of the 'notes mode' that tc advertised briefly on their workshop stream? I'm really curious on how good the sound is especially in the lower register.
      Thanks so much!

    wow how many voices you can do from CP4 midi way? and the CP4 setting? preset sound?

    • @melodistman
      @melodistman  6 лет назад

      Hello Massimo, and sorry for the delayed reply. I'm not a tech genius, but I don't believe there is a limit to the number of notes that get transmitted from the CP4 via MIDI. As to your 2nd question, the sounds from the CP4 in this vid were 2 preset vocal sounds. Hope this helps.
