I am musician from Russia and I purchased TC Helicon Perform VK. I don't know why but my device doesn’t work as it described in manual: - AUX can be muted only with INST-IN; - the harmony is recognizing from both INST-IN and AUX at the same time.
I just wanted to use this device as mixer also, but now I need additional mixer :-\ Nobody nowhere write about these features, the manual says it should work another way.
Can you say me, please, is it engineer mistake? Is manual incorrect? Or if I have defective device?
Wow amazing tool and performance. My wallet might stretch next month to this - hear it in play in Folkestone from November 2023 where Mairk is playing.
There are a couple of HUGE shortcomings in this device compared to earlier TC-Helicon devices. 1) There is no "Lead Mute" so that the vocal mic input can be muted at the output (only effects are sent to the mixer). Most quality TCH devices do have this feature (Dual Mono Mode or Lead Mute on/off). 2) Three presets only?! This is much too limiting for a serious live performance device. My VoiceLive Play GTX, for example, has 235 presets! After spending a lot of time with a Perform-VK, I'm selling the darned thing. Its fun in the living room, but not ready for gigs.
hi , Am Chris I bought Tc Helicon VK but am a bit disappointed the the tone is not giving me the kind of hardtune i was expecting from the unit. Although i like the quality of the voice but I bought it expecting to have similar hardtune like on the Pa4x and on the Voicelive touch 2. Could you suggest to Tc Helicon to give us an update that allows us to tune in the level of Hard tune the customers want instead of that minimal fixed to it produces? Thanks
I am also looking at pitch correction as the most important function. I guess no reviewer is able to purposely sing out or tune to make the pitch correction works.
If you play live, and sending piano and vokal to the mixer from the tc-helicon vk. Kan ypu splitt the vokal from the piano? or is everything on the same track? I want to have the vokal at one track, and piano in the other, while playing live. Is that possiable?
Hello, great question! It is not possible to separate the vocal track from the keyboard input on this unit. However, you could in theory use a splitter to send the keyboard into the Aux input (which can be removed from the main output), and then send the keyboard directly to your mixer as well. Thanks! Hi thanks a lot for the review, just a technical question: in MIDI note Mode, the "voices" sing right the notes you play on the keyboard, but how many voices Perform-VK can handle in MIDI Notes mode? In other words, which is the polyphony real-time availability in MIDI note Mode? Thanks really a lot.
Hey, Weide Records! The outputs on the Perform-VK are fixed, so there is no way to pan the harmonies. There could be some solutions to split your dry vocal out before the pedal so that you can separate the dry/harmony mix, but it would require some extra equipment. I hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions! Connor Smith, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1793, connor_smith@sweetwater.com
Great question! Since they all have pitch correction, it really just depends on what format you want it in. The duplicator is pretty straightforward (you would just want the doubling turned all the way to the left so that it has as little of an impact on the sound as possible). The perform V and VK have a pitch guide feature that lets you see when you’re off pitch so that would be my choice for pitch correction, personally. The VK adds the ability to control externally via a MIDI keyboard. I hope this helps! Feel free to reach out if you have any questions. How do the outs work? I see mic in and L/R keys in... but only L/R out ... how would I then mix mc and keys in a mixer? Do they come out together from the VK? I'd prefer the keys to just pass through, and be used where necessary by the machine, but for it to also have a mic XLR out. Is that possible somehow? Thanks.
Hi, Duncan. Thanks for the questions! The Perform VK has no way of separating the mic signal from the main instrument signal. It is possible to put a signal in through the Aux port on the back and not have that come through in the mix. So depending on your keyboard, you could take the headphone send out and use that to control the harmonies. The outputs from the Perform VK are what they are! He has it up too high in the demo so that it can be clearly heard. If you turn it down and make sure that the harmony volume isn't competing with the live vocal you are singing, then it sounds much better and more natural. Also keep in mind, the guy doing the demo is NOT A SINGER. He was pitchy and all over the place. He didn't have the pitch correction turned on...trust me, he needed it.
Ugh...his voice makes it sound bad...
How would this connect to a pa? There is no mic out?
Jerry Mac you can use a 1/4 to XLR male cable. If mono, you just connect to the L output line at the back, if stereo they you need two cables.
You can also use a normal instrument cable, a direct box and the XLR cable going to your pa.
It is very dynamic, I just purchased one of these and I am very pleased, it is worth every penny
