Abby, What an incredible and amazing Spirit you have. You also have such a wonderful sense of humor. It's to bad that so many people don't stop to think how such a simple act like parking in a handicap parking spot can cause so much frustration and hassle for handicapped people. I know there are people who just don't care, but I think the majority just don't Think. Keep sharing your amazing smile, story and life with us, your a true inspiration.
Amazing real-life video. Educate the uneducated about parking adjacent to disabled-parking-spots! People have no idea and I wish there were more news media directed at the general population about this.
I saw you in the Questioning Darwin documentary last night and I am SO happy to see that you're doing alright. And I learned that I've apparently already watched a couple videos of your in the past! Thanks for your great videos. They're very important to many people!
Oh my god, the number of times I have had to sit in the parking lot for 15+ minutes because someone parked over a striped zone that leads to the only ramp! It happened so many times that I stopped hesitating getting them towed whenever it happened at my own home and I couldn't get in or out. That apartment lived through multiple tornadoes and I can't imagine what I would have done if my way was blocked then.
I always say everybody is crippled today every time I go to Walmart. Can never find a spot. Most people seem not to be handicapped that park there, in my experience. I have gone in stores and come back out to my van and have people park so crooked on the yellow striped lines, that I can't get on my ramp without hitting their car with my wheelchair. I have to wait for them to finish shopping before they can move their vehicles so I can get up my ramp.
I have a VW Caddy with a rear access ramp for my Quickie Puma 40 Pro RWD S-line Gyro Power chair which I have had since 2019 I have the abbility to walk and stand but not with acute discomfort. But You have way better skills and adaptation to your Van But I wanted say your Vlogs are so inspiring and informative to what can be achieved today as long as you have the funding, well Done Young Abby .❣️kindest regards from the UK @HE15RGP (Raymond G Psaila)
I always wait by the spot to tell people how inconvenient it is to park in handicap spots if they don’t need it. If we don’t say anything it won’t get any better for us.
I see you haven't uploaded for a while, but I'm going to take a shot and see if you're still monitoring your channel. I'm a walking quad., but a little more function than you. I don't have a wheelchair, but mostly because I can't push a manual chair. I don't have very good finger function. Quad. pegs are very difficult for me, and an electric chair is to big and cumbersome to take out for shopping and stuff like that. I'm back to a walker because I started having problems with a cane since a got a sore on my trochanter. I get a very specific type of muscle spasm that I've only seen in high functioning para's. I've never found a high function quad. that I could compare notes with. Even though you're not a functioning quad. like me, I'd like to still try to compare notes and see if you can add any more intelligence on this problem.
Abby, I don't know what state you are in but here in Southwest Florida, Mainly Fort Myers, The Disabled Parking Laws are only as good as the police officers that enforce them which is non-existent here. I once asked a Fort Myers Police Sargent why these parking violations are not enforced, and his answer was "Do you know for sure they are Legal Handicap Spaces"? I replied that all these spaces are properly marked. His answer was, are these spaces The Proper Size to warrant enforcement. Sorry but I feel that every police officer that fails to enforce any law should be fired, and I am a supporter of the Blue and Disabled in wheelchair. I despise lazy police officers with all the answers as wrong as they are.
