  • Experience this incredible display of nature where millions of bats migrate from a cave at sunset in Battambang, Cambodia!
A month of making new friends and drinking had past. We had visited Li Phi waterfalls in the 4000 islands of Laos (Which join the largest falls in southeast asia, Khone Falls) and the ancient Angkor Wat temple ruins in Siem Reap (Which were featured in the hollywood movie Tomb Raider) but now it was time to move to a much smaller and quieter place to experience an unbelievable display of nature at its finest that we had heard so much about.
In the small city of Battambang in Cambodia, there is a cave that comes to life at sunset. When the sun starts to go down, millions of bats swarm and migrate from the cave forming incredible formations and shapes in the sun bleached sky. It lasts for roughly 45 minutes and happens every single day. It really is a unique phenomenon that you cant see in many other places in the world and unless you experience it in person, its very hard to understand the sheer excellence of it.
Not only does Battambang have this epic natural occurrence every single evening but it is also home to a famous bamboo train ride that was once used to transport goods and livestock when the real trains stopped running. Unfortunately the original bamboo train has been replaced with a new tourist version, but it was still fun.
Although Battambang might not be on the list for most people travelling cambodia, I would still recommend giving it a short visit, if not just to see this epic display of nature that you might not be able to see ever again!
This video will show you what to expect and everything you need to know about the bamboo train ride and the incredible display of nature that is the millions of swarming bats in Battambang, Cambodia - show you the experience, tell you all the relevant information and serve as a rough guide so you know what to do when you arrive in Battambang, Cambodia

Thanks Fiona! Yeah they were featured in Tomb Raider 😉 The train used to be used to take supplies around after the war but they rebuilt this new one just as a tourist experience. Yeah the bats were amazing, wont see that again! 😁
