Previously, Battambang was the biggest province in Cambodia. The new government carved its territory to create two new provinces spun out of Battambang.
Cambodia started from year Zero since 1/7/1979, when the country was liberated from the Khmer Rouge murderous regime. Cambodia had to rebuild everything from scratches; poor, hungry, destroyed, lost, and traumatized. While other countries moved forward 40 years, Cambodia stepped backward 40 years under the Khmer Rouge. So, when the Vietnamese help the Hun Sen government liberated the country in 1979-1980 from the Khmer Rouge, all they had was a destroyed country with 4 millions people left over from the dead. So, they had to work from that point to rebuild the country to this point. Cambodia will continue to develop in whatever areas that need development as long as the country has some money and with the help of other countries thru loans and investment, infrastructure development, and aids. Cambodia has been improving every year since the country was liberated, and it won’t stop here. 10-15 years from now, you will see more changes and improvements. Yes, I must admit that Cambodia is still one of the poorest countries in the world, but everything will improve. Just give Cambodia a chance, and be understanding, and treat Cambodia just like any other countries in the world.
I heard Khymer Rouge also killed a lot of intellectuals, academicians, doctors, engineers and whoever has a clean beautiful hands (indicate the white collar workers and not a peasant). So, yes Cambidia is start from scratch and zero.

The horrible genicide happened during my lifetime - it's not ancient history. So, I agree, it's important to familiarize yourself that history before going Cambodia. Show respect for the people and their struggle that they are still overcoming to this day. Thanks for the vlogs Mr. Chai.

Did you also know Thailand was apart of the Khmer Empire before the Siamese rebelled and found its first kingdom in the 12th century? Not many thailanderz know about this because their history only started from the time they found freedom from the Khmer Empire.
Don't go to Battambang for the city go for tourism hubs this province have lots of beautiful Historic places in there that you should go and visit thank you for visiting my country❤❤ 👍🏼
18 April some khmer people still celebrating khmer new year. Especailly battambang and banteay meanchey they celebrating Khmer new year for 1 month 😂 that's why so many shop still close 😊

After new year people have not come back yet that include Khmer New Year and Chinese New Year. Also they want to spend time with family and need to clean up.
I regretably was robbed $200 last night by a Khmer ladyboy that met me at the Phnom Penh riverside. I Had a couple beers at the River Quay then went to the riverside to relax for a bit. A woman which I thought was a woman came to me and offered a massage. Nothing sexual, but once I confirm she was a he at the hotel, I called it off and left. Later, I looked into my wallet and noticed money was missing. Be careful folks.
Yes. Beware of the ladyboys in all of Cambodia. They often hunt in packs but they are easy to spot. Other than that Cambodia is very safe certainly no violence except within the Chinese but they fight amongst themselves in Sihanoukville.
I am sorry to hear this. No one deserves to be robbed. It is commonly know that if you pick a freelancers no matter where at night these are the risks. A person who ask if you wanna have a massage and wants to go to your hotel room at night… I hope you won’t fall it anymore and I hope this will never happen to you anymore.
My country is a pathetic country because there are many wars, lost human resources, lost social stability, internal corruption, if you want to know more about Cambodia, I want you to see the history of Cambodia. Battambang town is the third most populated place in Cambodia, but infrastructure hasn’t been developed yet. There are other towns which are better than Battambang.

I've lived in Battambang for 10 years and until two years ago the cement roads and the black top roads were in very good condition. The problem was at the end of the rainy season there were many flooded roads. So two years ago they started a total drainage rebuild. The results are the temporary mess you see today. This is very necessary and is an inconvenience for any city that wants to progress. Battambang is one of the safest cities in the word and has many wonderful schools and universities.
That’s right :). You gonna have to visit yourself to get the whole experience. The thing is not everyone is able to. Through the videos I make more people can “virtually” visit :)
Smiling culture i can see is only specially in South East Asia i love the kindness of super friendly people, even in India also I'm from Mumbai but out of 100 people there are only few who give you a smile to local person if you smile at someone, i really appreciate your content chai and i really appreciate you make content for us in this extreme hot temperature🌡️ weather super thanks to you❤ and take care of your health brother❤ stay champ

Battambang is a France spelling, in English spelling is Battambong, the meaning mean “ losing a stick” a magical stick. The black giant statue that stand for Battambang it’s his magical stick, he lost his stick somewhere when fighting with someone.

Battambang is a France spelling, in English spelling is Battambong, the meaning mean “ losing a stick” a magical stick. The black giant statue that stand for Battambang it’s his magical stick, he lost his stick somewhere when fighting with someone.
