      The reporter said council was just assisting her through this phase for free. (3:07) It sounded like he was giving a free consultation and strategic advice. That would be awesome if that was available to people. He is doing a good thing, for a lawyer ;)

      I don't understand why the condo board would refuse to repair the pipe. Makes no sense to me. Did they want the whole building to flood and make the structure unsafe for everyone?

      Yep. If the other residents don't want higher dues, then they need to come together and make the association allow the camera and fix the ceiling issue. If not, then they deserve the higher dues. If the board retaliates, then retaliate back and keep making money off of them as if her neighbors do not help then they are also part of the problem.

    This is insane. The condo President has a ring doorbell camera but is writing her up for having one. Then the condo has a safety issue with a leaking pipe and refuses to fix it which could lead to mold and decreases the value of her unit. That condo President should be ashamed with how it is treating its residents and glad this story made the local news.

      Probably.. the inaction to repair, could force a person out.. also.. they'd then potentially be able to rent the space out at a higher rate than what's listed on her paperwork..
      Tactics commonly used by slum lords.. (make the living conditions bad enough with neglect and fees, to force a resident to leave)

      In my last building, which had 14 units, the two owners who had been there the longest did indeed have a stranglehold. They did not have any qualifications. One of them had a vendetta against me from the very start, because the garage cabinets above my parking space had padlocks on them. I submitted an inquiry as to who was using the cabinets that were for my use. I received no response, but one day I saw her angrily removing her things from my cabinets.

    This lady needs to mail the residents, let them know exactly how much this Condo board is costing them in legal fees - and, if she goes for punitive damages, let them know that as well.     Thank you for helping her! This is definitely a case of retaliation and the board president is going to be in hot water. The new Florida condo laws prohibits this kind of retaliation. Sue the HOA and the president personally. This president is going to cost the HOA in needless attorney fees which is a direct violation of his fiduciary responsibility. He’s a total jerk in my opinion. Hope you get a huge settlement. 😁

    Miami condos are going down the drain. If this condo has an active leak/hole in the roof, I would sue whoever owns the building and get out of there before the whole building collapses.

      That's literally what she's doing by suing the condo board. You're thinking of an apartment complex. With condos the actual building is owned collectively by all of the condo owners and the board is the organization responsible for maintaining the common parts of the building, including its structure.

    Clearly the main Board member would be in breach of the law if they are telling her that her Ring Camera is illegal yet they have X2 Camera's and one is able to track!!!!🤬

    The problem is that the fines should not be for the association, but for the board members personally. Other tenants should not suffer from this.

    Easy fix. Contact the owners of the building. Tell them that you will charge them $500 a day for each day (or portion thereof) the leak is not repaired. Applied retroactively to the day it was reported.
    They'll okay that camera with a quickness AND repair the leak if you 'settle' for $1000.

    That’s crazy, I would never live in a place with an hoa I have never heard of any good stories coming from them. Just ego and power tripping. Also why wouldn’t they fix a leak that’s insane.
