Though I would argue this could be said to those who just hear her recordings. She suffered from several health problems but even as her physical body began to show signs of her declining health, her voice never lost its vibrant tone and remained powerful to the end. Towards the end of her career, it was said that she had to be carried on stage where those who were carrying her, would position her in front of her microphone. The musical accompaniment would begin, and she would open her mouth and that voice would pour out and fill the theater. To be present at one of her live performances in her latter part of her career, must have been what can only be described as a religious experience. Edith Piaf was a gift from God to humanity and her songs will be played and enjoyed until the end of time.

Edith Piaf was one of the Great Artists of the 20th Century whose music continues to find popularity in every new generation and will continue to do so because her songs tell stories that are universally experienced by all human beings. She was a storyteller and it is evident in her diction, every word is perfectly pronounced and emphasis was placed on words that expressed the core meaning of the song. Her perfect diction and powerful, expressive voice touches your heart and whether your fluent in French or not, you know the meaning of the song. I believe, she was the personification of France and its people during her lifetime. She, like thousands, if not millions of her fellow countrymen/women, had experienced tremendous hardship in life but they also appreciated and celebrated the simple joys of everyday life we so often take for granted today.
She was a petite woman, only 4'8" (142 cm) in height and it was her tiny frame that made her big, powerful, melodic voice a moving experience to those who saw her perform live. Though I would argue this could be said to those who just hear her recordings. She suffered from several health problems but even as her physical body began to show signs of her declining health, her voice never lost its vibrant tone and remained powerful to the end. Towards the end of her career, it was said that she had to be carried on stage where those who were carrying her, would position her in front of her microphone. The musical accompaniment would begin, and she would open her mouth and that voice would pour out and fill the theater. To be present at one of her live performances in her latter part of her career, must have been what can only be described as a religious experience.
Edith Piaf was a gift from God to humanity and her songs will be played and enjoyed until the end of time.
