As a painter and a gamer there have always been miniature's I've dreamed about having. Anything from huge Warhammer fantasy monsters, Warhammer 40k gunships and Dungeons and Dragons monsters. Unfortunately, to this day I still don't own most of these epic miniatures that I dreamed about as a kid. Together with my friend and Patreon supporter Albin I've listed 8+ miniatures in RPG and tabletop Wargames that you and I wish we had in our collection.

Can we all just, for a moment, appreciate the fact that the Astartes are so dedicated to getting safely onto the battlefield, that they actually went through the effort of sticking *window wipers* on the Thunderhawk?

a few years ago i bought one of these on ebay (still have the photo's somewhere) and it weighed a ton. when i finally had to sell it the postage was horrendous, but it was worth owning for the couple of years that i did. a truly awesome model for its time, and the box was a sight to see with brass aquillas on all the corners.

When I was a preteen/teen in the late 80's early nineties all I did was paint D&D minis. Mostly Ral Partha, Grenadier, and a few GW. I had over 250 minis, and a lot of Dragons (2 of which you listed here). Long story short in 1997 my roommate kicked me out. While I was away visiting my father, who was ill with cancer, and out of state. They threw all my belongs into the street (at least the ones they did not want for them selves). Everything I owned including all my minis was stolen. This not only ended a friendship, it knocked the wind out of me to ever paint minis again. It would be 10 years before I would paint another. I still have not restored my collection to anywhere near what it was, and I have researched a few of the stolen minis, and almost all of them are no longer in production, and its a punch in the stomach every time I find own and see how valuable they are now. I am slowly rebuilding my mini collection.
I am interested in the Brushes.

    • @hendrikvanleeuwen9110
      @hendrikvanleeuwen9110 4 года назад +1

Brushes are important, but there is no point getting expensive ones unless you know how to look after them (most of us have to learn that the hard way), and really need them. In which case you will want a set of 'OK' brushes anyway for dry brushing and other stuff that can be hard on brushes, bulk painting, when your mate wants a try, etc.
As a beginner, I would suggest two medium quality sets would be better value than one good one. As you get a feel for which brushes you actually prefer you can then buy fresh good brushes for particular jobs. This way you will only need one or two good brushes and they will last much longer. All the best with your new hobby!

Even rewatching these videos i get a giant hit of nostalgia. I really like this video format. You should do this but in a series. Focus on each faction separately.

I remember the old Ral Partha minis. When I first started painting, Ral Partha paints were what I had to work with as well.

Fun little video, I wasn't big into war gaming in the past. Only recently, with my son, into Bloodbowl and Warcry. That said I still have a copy of Hero Quest and Battle masters sitting up in my closet from when I was younger. I still don't totally understand the following behind those games, so they continue to sit collecting dust LOL. I should open them up and take a look at their mini's

Ive got the Malifaux Miss models. Last time I played, about two years ago, they could still randomly be rewarded as mystery prizes for tournaments. They also have translucent versions of regular models that are pretty rare.

Just discovered your channel after getting back into painting minatures. I started WHF and 40K when I was 12 circa '94 I remember the Thunderhawk Gunship being advertised in WD at the time I seem to recall the pictures showing that all the metal parts came in a wooden box. I never managed to get my hands on one sadly. My main focus back then was a Chaos namely Tzeentch (my child mind decided this was TenZee, adult mind has decided Zintch). Wicked videos by the way and getting overwhelmed by all the changes to everything from AoS lore which I was not long reading about and even the way paints are done now.

Plus my brushes are all dead. Love your channel!

Thanks for this great video. It made me think of some amazing miniatures released (or not) by Rackham in early 2010s like the Tarascus, the orc brontops, the mid nor hydra and the amazing Dragon Titan, those are pretty rare models too.

My flatmate purchased three sets of the Diablo II Monsters figs many many years ago when they first came out. He recently gifted me one, still shrinkwrapped, for my birthday last year. Very awesome gift. Not stupidly expensive or excessively rare, but will still set you back $150 - $200 new today.

So many blasts from the past. I remember being about 11 or 12 and a bloke sat in my local GW, building a METAL Thunder Hawk... I thought it was the coolest thing I'd ever seen. Not sure if they are rare (probably are) but I'd love to get hold of THE original Rouge Trader 'Beakie' Marine, I think they reissued it in 2016... damn now my finger is hovering across that Buy Now button!!

Also I'd like the brushes because I just recently got 6 new people into the hobby and we are all painting and modeling together at a local shop here and it will really help spread the joy of the hobby while saving us some money. Right now we are all sharing brushes when needed lol however some of us wear down the brushes more than others.

I have a limited edition Ral Parthia dragon. I started painting it in my youth. I need to strip the paint off and paint it now. Love Ral Partha figs. I guess that is one advantage of being old and picking up gaming in the early 70’s. Haha.

I once played a big warhammer fantasy game back in the day and the store had one so it was used! Fortunately it was in my side as I was using chaos lol
