    Your first attempt on the show was an off the shelf trick, but your winning one was something you put your own SOUL into. Pun intended:) What a generous video you have given us here! I honestly don't think anyone could figure this out. Yes it's simple when you know. Disappointing? How many methods and sold tricks out there are disappointing but only cuz often the devilish secret is so simple. Great job mate! Thank you so much for sharing.

    Thank you for this reveal. So someone wrote the answers, placed the paper on top of the sole in the prop brought in to hold the briefcase. You then stepped on the sole and therefore placed it in your shoe as you yelled for the audience to applaud Teller coming up - hiding the sound of the sole’s magnets clicking onto the shoe. Wow very tricky. The key is the helper who was off stage to load the answers onto the sole. No one expected an offstage helper - least of all Penn and Teller in this trick. Great job.

    Truly a lesson in crafting the perfect magic trick, using all the tools at the disposal of the illusionist. The magnetic sole is a unique and brilliant innovation that produces a seemingly normal shoe that Jonathan can hold in his hand. Plus, changing the focus from the suitcase to the shoe was an excellent use of misdirection, causing Penn & Teller to overlook the simple possibility that the written answer was transported on stage with the table. On both counts you truly fooled them on the night, as part of an entertaining performance full of humour and surprises.
    Thanks for posting the solution after all these years, and for your graciousness in answering people's questions along the way. I'm interested to know if Penn & Teller have now learned the solution - I'm guessing they'd be doubly impressed.

      @@jaredpeterson5335 There are off-stage judges. The magicians tell the judges the trick, so they can then confirm if P&T get it or not.

      @@christiancampbell3430 You're nearly right. There's only one person who is told the secret and he's also a magician. He sits off stage and can hear everything PaT say in their talk. It's his final decision on if they were fooled. It explains this in the full shows. Maybe watch them instead of YT clips.

    I did not actually think he would reveal it... Kudos for him on keeping his promise. Fun to see such a simple thing having such a powerful effect on the audience (including me of course)... Great trick, thanks for sharing!

    Way too late for the giveaway, but had to leave a comment about this video. Absolutely fantastic to see you following up on this! The simple methods can be the hardest to figure out. Wonderfully done, great prop and thanks for sharing the explanation!

    Very nice of you to reveal this amazing routine,you surely fooled me RB ;-)
    PS:so there was someone under the table writing the outcome on the piece of paper who placed it in the cut out piece of shoe??

      @RichardBellars  7 лет назад +18

      Frederic Vandeputte it was placed in there off stage.. before the table made it's way on stage

      +Richard Bellars ok thank you for your response Richard ,i just watched your performance now for the third time .So there was someone else who wrote the prediction backstage who then placed the piece of paper in the cut out of the shoe?

      Yep, you got it Frederic, that is how understand what Richard said. Richard also said the cut out piece of shoe was hidden in the leg of the table and when the table was brought out he stepped on the cut out piece piece of shoe. But how he got the cut out piece of shoe out of the leg of the table in order to then step on it, I am unsure of.

      @james.novak89 7 лет назад +3

      susp1 there was a hole at the bottom of the table at floor level. So he just slipped his foot in and stepped on it. At least that is how I understood it.

    Is it fair if my mental powers tell me that I have already won the DVD in the most possible future? (I will use only one account to comment, I don't really need the three of them, but thanks for making it possible!) Wonderful video by the way, GREAT attitude on making it, really GREAT.

    Mine was the comment suggesting a small person with nice handwriting secreted in the plinth on the original video. I should very much like to be selected at random to win one of the DVDs. Let's let fate decide.

    One question how long did they Penn and Teller deliberate for? Seems like 30 seconds but I'm sure it's longer? And how long were you actually on stage for?

    • @RichardBellars
      @RichardBellars  7 лет назад +84

      Aaron411 Great question! They deliberated for about 6-7 minutes which felt like a year up there. You can hear the frustration in JR's voice

      Oh wow! They make it seem like 30 seconds! Congrats and I can't wait for more of your videos! And Wow Im surprised you actually responded I'm used to not getting replies so thank you!

      As a follow-up to that question, , do they get access to any resources while they deliberate? if they're mostly sure they know where an effect is from but can't remember the name or creator for them to communicate it, can they research or ask someone or is it all in their heads?
      Also, thanks for this vid. Blows my mind to see how some gimmicks are made.
