I can see why they cut some of this. Some of it is very touchy, and even in the 90s, people would get offended if they are not portrayed gracefully. But I think they handled it so well. The actors definitely did their homework.
The first time I watched this film, I didn’t understand a lot of the storyline. I found it hard to follow, like a lot of stuff wasn’t mentioned but all the characters knew about it. These scenes help understand the plot so much! Why would they delete them?
I wish they kept the scene where she was hallucinating and eventually stares at the bottle of aspirin, it would have added much more eerie vibes to the movie…
Aww those scenes were in the book! Like when she was having paranoia about her hands and stuff. It revealed the mental suffering she was experiencing and why she ended up there.Also loved the extra scenes. Also those scenes on how Susanna questions "psychology" and the system at the ward with the psychiatrist. There were a lot of thoughts Susanna had about that in he book too..
As much as this movie upsets me, I feel the same way about those three. I miss Brittany Murphy. I do not buy movies too terribly often, and those are ones that are rare or not mainstream American movies. But I bought the documentary about Brittany. Again, I miss her.
This movie could've been another better movie if they added these scenes it gave a lot of depth to the main character. We understood her better and also the daisy character
I assume that the scenes with the hallucinations of the main character were cut because of the symptoms of a severe mental disorder. The director did not want moviegoers to see Susanna as an obvious schizophrenic and did not believe in her easy cure.
