I bought a 2023 MY LR in December 2023. I was looking for a easy to install roof shade for the summer months. Your video was helpful showing how easy it installs! 👍
Magnets make it so much better! I’ve been using the retractable roof shade from Hansshow for a while now and really like it. Not a cheap option by any means, but I never need to remove, just retract it.
I bought these based on this recommendation. I am not a 'handy' person, I have arthritis in my wrists and hands, and a shoulder injury that limits any overhead work. Nevertheless, I was able to install these myself in about 10 minutes. No rattles, no shifting. I couldn't be happier.
I've been on the hunt for a quick-install option that isn’t magnetic, and the only one I found that fits the bill is JOWUA. While the Otrifowd's magnet idea is cool, I feel more secure with JOWUA’s lock-no worries about the sunshade dropping while driving. If you’re like me and want something that stays put, you might want to go for the lock one. I've been using mine for months, and it’s never fallen once! Just sharing. 😎
A clever introduction to a well-worn topic. Watched the entire review, well done and concise. I'm in the South and still thinking about one of these, but my first summer was tolerable without it. Broke down and got the windshield shade last year. Need to give this serious consideration since my MYLR inside temps reached 130 degrees on some days last year even with the windshield shade.
I bought one and gave your code. The shade was easy to install. A couple of problems. The company sent me two about a week apart. They said I ordered two. I blame that on their website. They required I send it back on my own dime. Actually $15 to SoCal. The company is in Hong Kong. The credit card charged there. Very difficult people to deal with. The clips don't actually slide in. One installing trick is to use a putty knife to slightly pry the roof trim back. Then install is fast and easy. No damage. The only real downside is if you roll the window down at low speed the rear shade is going to fly off. Drive a little faster both shades will fly off. Would I buy again? No.
Thank you for this review. I just was about to order a sunshade for my 24Y You reviewed before. Just to watch your new review and saw the new updates with the magnets personally I think this will be a lot better. I just ordered one and will be here Tuesday. Thanks again. Have a great holiday.
This roof shade is awesome, so quick to take on and off. Only downside is that it can't handle the windows being down more than like 25mph, but it's not a big deal to me because if it's a windows down kind of day then it's also a window shade down kind of day.
I just got a roof shade last week. Would have good to see this one before I got mine. But it’s not something I expect to use much but it will be my first summer with the y.
That's an interesting sun roof system for sure, and a great review as well. I've seen however a new model of sun roof for the model 3/Y that doesn't use any clips, but instead just uses electrostatic system to stick to the glass, and thus get easily on and off. What do you think of those ones ?
Or tesla could just factory install a retractable roof shade like many of its chinese ev competitors...i left mine on for over a year now too much hassle
Or Tesla could offer the stupid glass roof as a paid for option only like many other car makers do. You know, for people who feel like paying a lot of money for something utterly useless. First pay for the glass roof, then pay for the shade, then pay for increased insurance ( they DO break) etc.
I want to see the comparison between this and JOWUA, mine got jowua and it works well too, they used special clip installed once. not a magnet so I feel safe when driving. not sure how strong this magnet is. might be cool to test it out!
I picked one up for a ‘23 Y. Install was just as easy as shown - though my seam doesn’t butt, it overlaps about 1 inch. I don’t care for glass roofs at all and will leave this in always as I am in Florida.
@@underworldevents265- you do not feel radiant heat on your head while driving. I’m sure it helps with cabin heat while parked to some degree…but hot is hot.
A few questions: 1) How LONG will these fabric-based shades last? 2) This product only mentions UV light shielding or blocking - but what about all the infrared heat - how much is reflected back through the heat-absorbing glass? (give a percentage or before/after inside temperature comparison) 3) Will the magnets hold the M3 shields in place with windows down @ 75 mph? (Product comments are saying NO) 4) What's the R and U ratings of the "thermal" insulation? I'm most concerned about rejecting the summer's heat (item #2), since you can burn yourself on the glass without any shielding.
I think you should review the electrostatic ones before you label anything the best. It was hard getting it to stick the first time but after that it's been great and my favorite
Bought one based on your video I did have to use a different prybar because my 24 model Y was very tight up against the glass. My only other issue is the wrinkles in the shade and a little bit of sag, but hopefully that goes away over time?
Which motor captures the Regen Energy when slowing down? If i followed you correctly. The permanent magnet motors magnetic field is always there. So would it be that one that slows the vehicle down and put energy back into the battery?
I have this exact roof shade. My only problem is that it doesn't fully cover my roof 100%. There is still slight gaps in parts. My previous was so tight that there was no gap but it was a pain to put on and off. I think I just got a bad one. This is one of those that if you error, it should be larger and not smaller.
I ordered a set a few days ago and they said they were out of stock and wouldn’t ship until April 20. Just got an email that they’re shipping today! Hopefully, they’ll be here before a trip from Texas to Oregon in the Model Y.
Having watched this video I bought a set for my Tesla model 3 (Shanghai version) here in the UK, but I was really disappointed. It didn’t fit anywhere near as well as yours did. I sent it straight back to Amazon, (who promptly sent me labels to return it to one of their centres in Illinois)! It was a poor fit and the colour didn’t come close to matching the lining on the roof framework. However, it did appear to be well-made with good quality materials, so I wouldn’t discount them as an option for others.
Any chance you could find out where we can get replacement clips for this product? My rear piece will fall when driving with the windows down so I’m looking to add at least 2 more clips.
Nice! But I wish you had shown refolding that shade. I have similar beach pop-up tents that are almost impossible to refold back up. I have had to rewatch videos each time and practice before leaving on how to twist them to get the darn things refolded. Were these easy to refold?
This is where I get really upset with the cross border Amazon pricing. In Canada it goes for CAD 209+ tax (USD 154+ tax) This is crazy. I would love to have one for my model Y but will not pay almost 2x the price.
The best Tesla shade would be one that is integrated at the factory - however as Musk does have deep pockets but short arms - it's off to the aftermarket outlets to stop your head from frying.
I have the 3.0 fullshade for the model y and I’m having trouble with the install. Connected the side rails to the front portion, but there’s too much tension in the chord to connect the back portion. Giving up.
Very nice, but the question is WHEN do I use it? I live in Las Vegas, where it gets super hot in the summer, but let’s say I’m going grocery shopping for 35 minutes, or getting a haircut, should I put the shades up?
I'm in Phoenix and I leave the shade up for half the year. Then from November to May I take off the shade and enjoy the panoramic roof. Best of both worlds.
Just installed today, the magnet clip works great easy on and off. My head feel much cooler than the typical see through fabric. $70 is acceptable. Amazon free return.
This sunshade looks great, but after going out to the website, it only appears that white is available. The interior of the new Model Y I just ordered is black, so white will not work as well.
