    OKAY! To everyone having issue on internal storage I FIGURED IT OUT.
    So I did everything including making another bottle incase the first one was broken and nothing, infact it broke it even more because when browsing for the game directory it started at / and my computer.
    I had realized earlier that it just wasn't showing Hidden files so linking must count as a hidden file and even after adding every directory around the link to the "Other files" it didn't work so as a last ditch effort I just ticked every option on the flat seal file system menu and BOOM it appears finally and I can link my exe.
    Thanks for the tutorial and I hope this helps anyone else.

    Hmm, tried this with RE3 and the game is hanging on loading screens like others have mentioned.
    Bottles seems to be running Fluffy just fine, picking up the mods and installing them.
    I made sure to run the non-rt version of the game too and I do have the DLC.
    I'm installing internally So, as far as Flatseal goes, I only have the home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps path. I dont have an xdg download object to point to as the instructions mention.
    Not sure at this point if it's a game or Fluffy issue. Maybe the mods are not being installed correctly?

      @hazmat45 11 месяцев назад

      @@GothikaGeist Hey! I am. Also I was dumb and thought xdg-download was part of the 2nd path you listed, so I corrected that; I have the steamapps, commons, and xdg-downloads paths.
      However, I just tried RE2 and no luck. Trying different mods either the game freezes at "checking for downloadable content" or I get a message at startup asking me to redownload the costume packages as they were not found.
      Again, Fluffy is not complaining at all when installing mods

    • @GothikaGeist
      @GothikaGeist  11 месяцев назад

      @@hazmat45 That definitely sounds like there's a mod that's using DLC you do not own. I have the free Claire 98' costume and the Elza Walker costume and that has been all I've needed. If it still doesn't work you should look at the mod page and see if they tell you what costume you need. If all else fails I guess you could just buy all the costumes right now. To be clear: if you have a mod that requires let's say the Claire Noir costume and you don't own it then the game will be stuck at "Loading downloadable content" or whatever the text is.

    • @hazmat45
      @hazmat45 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@GothikaGeist Finally got it working. Wasn't the DLC as I mentioned I already had it.
      Not sure which step fixed this, but I uninstalled both games and deleted the leftover folders before reinstalling. I also recreated the bottle from scratch. Could've been a bad bottle, or maybe the games didn't downversion correctly, make sure to install the downgraded version from scratch (Change beta option first, install after). There was something in a bad state that messed the whole thing.
      FWIW, working as expected on my Steam Deck having tested various mods. Thanks a lot for helping out!!

    • @GothikaGeist
      @GothikaGeist  11 месяцев назад +1

      @@hazmat45 If you changed to the "non-rt" version AFTER installing your mods then that was the issue.
      The "order of operations" is always:
      [1]Download Game
      [2]Change to Steam Beta "non-rt"
      [3]"Re-read game archives" in Fluffy Mod Manager
      [4] Install Mods
      The point of step 3 is that Fluffy reads what the "vanilla" file structure looks like in order to be able to manage your mod install/uninstalls and mod presets in the latest Fluffy Mod Manager versions.

    Hi, so I followed everything properly but when I have to define the game path for Monster Hunter Rise, I cannot find the .exe file for some reason? I made sure everything is allowed in flatseal and have the symlink in the drive c folder but It’s still not detecting it. I don’t even see a Monster Hunter Rise folder either, I just see the the stuff like “program files” and “windows” and I also see the Fluffy Mod Manager file but no Monster Hunter Rise file. I tried resetting my steam deck multiple times to see if it works but to no avail. One of the times I resetted desktop mode, I saw the MHR folder but I still could not see the .exe file and I’m at a loss. Any help would be appreciated from ANYONE, thank you!

    • @GothikaGeist
      @GothikaGeist  Год назад +1

      You've made sure the MHR installation folder is symlinked to the drive_c folder? And when you open up Dolphin (default Steam OS file explorer) you can navigate to the symlinked folder that's inside the drive_c folder?
      Edit: 1:35 - 2:05 Specifically this. Can you see the same things as shown in the video OUTSIDE of Fluffy. Just file browsing through Steam OS (Like I am in the clip)?

      @@GothikaGeist Yeah everything seems normal and in place. I followed the tutorial very closely and I doubled checked everything. It seems like bottles isn’t even recognizing the symlink folder either. I tried moving the folder in a different place other than drive c and it does not work still. I have also tried deleting and placing a new symlink folder in drive c but nothing. I am not really sure what is going on but I’ll update my comments or make a new one when I find a solution. My last resort would ultimately be setting up mods on windowsOS, but that is an absolutely LAST resort because I like using SteamOS to play my games in. When you click define game path and that "big ol plain gray window pops up, in the sidebar on the left click My Computer and expand the "(C:)" you should see both the Fluffy Mod Manager Folder and the MHR installation folder. Now what you wanna do is click the "(C:)" so it's highlighted Blue. Note on the right hand side, that big blank area that is now filled with folders click the MHR installation folder (on the right hand side, not the left). The field at the bottom that says "file name" should now be filled with the filepath of the MHR installation folder. Click "Open" on the bottom right. That should do it. Hey GothikaGeist, I'm trying to mod DMC5. It's installed on my internal drive on steam deck and I followed your guide all the way up to 3:02, where you defined the game path. There's no drop down box or icons at the top like shown in your vid either, everything is on the side and I have to manually go in and look through each thing. But for the LIFE of me I cannot locate the DMC5 .exe file. Tried doing this for 3 days, I'm about to throw my steam deck against a brick wall at this point; I do not understand why it is so complicated just to mod a game nowadays. Is there a way to fix this issue or at the very least drag and drop install mods?

      I've just recently placed new instructions for people who use Internal storage on the pinned comment. Check the pinned comment for details but make sure your Flatseal permissions for Bottles matches those in the PINNED COMMENT rather than what's on the video.

      @@corneliustaylor7235 You're attempting to "define game path" and find the exe file for DMC5 correct? If so, when the windows pops up is it only letting you see folders? Can you change the "file type" thing at the bottom right to "all files"? Otherwise, can you find the exe file outside of Bottles when you search local files through steam?

      @@GothikaGeist Yes I'm attempting to "define game path" and find the exe file for dmc5. It only allows me to see folders, and no I am not able to change the file type. I can find the exe file when I open dolphin if that is what you mean. I am able to see the dmc5 stmlink with all its folders included, besides the exe file (for whatever reason). I really do not understand what is going on at this point tbh.

      @@corneliustaylor7235 You cannot see the exe file in the symlinked folder through dolphin? And you CAN see the exe in the actual steam install location? Could try re-linking the entire folder again and see if that helps. Make sure to close flatseal after you've made the changes too. Might even help to restart the steam deck.
      Edit:If you can only see folders will it let you select the DMC5 folder as the installation path?

    ~~PINNED COMMENT - UPDATED [April 8th, 2023]~~
    ~~IMPORTANT NOTE TO THOSE WITHOUT SD CARDS~~
    If you DO NOT have an SD Card and the game you're modding is installed INTERNALLY then your Flatseal filepaths as shown @ 2:52 should look like this:
    /home/deck/.local/share/steamapps
    /home/deck/.local/share/steamapps/common
    xdg-download
    If you followed along the video @ 2:06 and manually copied the filepath at the top it should have still worked out correctly but double-check it yourself.
    ~~ SOLUTIONS IN CASE YOU GET STUCK - April 8th, 2023~~
    Fluffy Mod Manager has been updated and the "Define Game Path" window as shown @3:02 looks different and functions differently. It NO LONGER ASKS for an EXE FILE. It ASKS FOR A FOLDER.
    If you still can't see the "game install" folder you symlinked from Steam then try this: freeze frame @2:28 and you'll see the options to toggle "All user files", "All system files", etc. Go ahead and toggle all 4 options, that should allow you to see the symlinked folder when defining the game path in Fluffy.
    Once you're defining the game path and the "oldschool" window pops up, navigate to the ROOT (c_drive) of the Fluffy bottle using the left hand panel. Once you see the symlinked game install folder on the RIGHT HAND SIDE PANEL then select it and click "Open" on the bottom right of the window.

      I will say that I'm currently modding MHRise myself so this does in fact work though there have been issues with Title Update 4 a few days ago, but those issues are mod specific.

      Idk if you're the same guy who asked on the Reddit thread but I've been able to get Snakebite (the MGSV mod manager) working in past versions of Bottles. You just have to look into the pre-requisite installs for those mod managers. Snakebite needed specific versions of dotNet framework for example.
      Bottles should have those dotnet frameworks installable from within the app itself.

      @@Leon-S_kennedy I don't know what you're asking. If you asking whether Fluffy Mod Manager can just be installed straight from the internet onto the Steam Deck then no. You need to follow the video to install through Bottles.
      If you're asking if mods can be "installed directly" then sort of? Mods just have to be downloaded and copied to the Mods folder inside of Fluffy Mod Manager.
      However, some mods might have to be extracted first. Usually what you want is a compressed file (zip, 7z or rar) that has various folder and files in it. That compressed file can just be placed in the Mods folder as is. If the compressed file has another compressed file in it then you need to extract it first.

    this piece of shit is not worth the effort. mods used to work just fine, such a complicated process to get past the "checking for downloadable content" screen even on a fresh install with no mods, it locks every time. I try every few months to a year just to see if it's been fixed but I think it's just a lost cause at this point.

    • @GothikaGeist
      @GothikaGeist  Год назад

      I'm assuming you're speaking of the RE Remakes and not Monster Hunter Rise. Getting stuck at "checking for DLC" screen is caused by mods that use costumes that you do not own. Usually it's the "Classic" (Claire '98 / Leon' 98) and the "Elza Walker" costume. Funny enough, if you go to these costumes on Steam you'll see most reviews mention you need to buy them specifically for mods.
