Mods just have to be downloaded and copied to the Mods folder inside of Fluffy Mod Manager. However, some mods might have to be extracted first. Usually what you want is a compressed file (zip, 7z or rar) that has various folder and files in it. That compressed file can just be placed in the Mods folder as is. @@GothikaGeist okay, appreciate ya! I got two questions 1. Do the mods save to the on board SD (I have 64gb version) 2. Do I need to revert to DX11 in RE3R?
@@la2671 1) In the method I showcase the mods save to the Onboard Storage, yes. I believe you can store the mods on your external SD Card by clicking "Link Here" @ 3:26 instead. Of course, your mod collection would have to be stored on the external SD Card beforehand.
2) Reverting isn't MANDATORY per se. Basically, mods need to have built-in support for DX12. This means there ARE mods you can use with DX12 but your selection is gonna be VERY small compared to the old DX11 version of the game.
@@GothikaGeist I really appreciate the thorough explanation, you’re doing gods work my friend!

You're using mods that require costume DLC, most likely.
@@GothikaGeist I have the dlc for it though, so when I go into the game it just doesn't appear even when downloaded
@@goldie2106 You have the free dlc too? There might be an unlockable costume after beating the game as well, not 100% sure. Someone else got a similar issue last week or so, check the comments.
Every time I try to create an application bottle it fails and gives me an error. It says something like “failed to download windows Arial font” I changed the version under the runner on the custom tab and it works fine. Any fixes?
Hello, great video. I feel like I’m almost there, but whenever I toggle on a mod in fluffy, the game will not launch through steam. When I uninstall all mods, the game runs again, but then when I toggle a mod back on, the game will not run again. Any ideas why this might be? Thanks again.
Uninstall all mods, verify integrity of game cache on steam, start game, exit game, start up Fluffy, click "re-read game archives" or something similar to that in Fluffy, now install a mod, close Fluffy, play game and see if the error still happens.
Yes, the error still happens. I’ll go through the tutorial again, maybe I missed a step. Thanks anyways for your help.
I followed your video exactly as you did it as far as I can tell, but I am unable to find my RE2/RE3 files when I hit the arrow in Fluffy mod manager. I made sure to symlink them, yet I am still unable to find them in the window. I see them there in the dolphin file manager though. If I made an error it was probably around the flatseal section, but I do not think that I did as I followed what you did other than the fact that the file path is different on my system. I would appreciate any help that you can offer me. Thank you in advance. Edit: I have the 1 Terabyte OLED system.
All I can really say is that the newer version of Fluffy handle file paths and such differently. You no longer have to symmlink anything. At least I haven't in the newer versions of Fluffy. And my Flatseal has stayed the same as in this video.
@@GothikaGeist I got it working I saw that in one of your precious responses that you told someone to turn on all the options under filesystem in flatseal. I did that, and now it is working correctly.

I did everything that you did in your video and yet when I click on “define game path” resident evil fours folder does not show up, but fluffy mod Manager does, and I made sure to link the resident give a four game folder to the Drive C folder
Try the info from this comment, assuming g you have the latest version of Fluffy:
I figured it out. OK so if we assume you did everything correctly up to this point in terms of Flatseal and the filepath permissions then follow this:
When you click define game path and that "big ol plain gray window pops up, in the sidebar on the left click My Computer and expand the "(C:)" you should see both the Fluffy Mod Manager Folder and the MHR installation folder. Now what you wanna do is click the "(C:)" so it's highlighted Blue. Note on the right hand side, that big blank area that is now filled with folders click the MHR installation folder (on the right hand side, not the left). The field at the bottom that says "file name" should now be filled with the filepath of the MHR installation folder. Click "Open" on the bottom right. That should do it. That should complete the setup for the game. Lmk if it works.
@@GothikaGeist hey just an fyi I'm having tbe same issue, tried this and when i had the C drive highlighted blue no additional folders popped up for me :/
imo seems the main issue is the file paths being updated idk
@@FartPriest69 double click C drive and it should allow you to see "program files" and the installation folder for Fluffy.

Why does the screen turn black and crash when I try to launch the game?
Don't launch it through Bottles. Launch the game through Steam in Desktop Mode or normally through Game Mode.
Im getting "failed to load data/data.pkg" error. Says I didn't extract it properly
I know it is asking a lot since this was a year ago but you ever figure this out? I am in the same boat and find myself completely stuck!
I'm having the same issues as others who are using the internal drive. I followed the paths provided for that and still I cannot see the linked folder when I launch in fluffy.
Once you click define path you get the gray window with all the folders and stuff on the left right? Basically it asks for the install folder rather than the.exe file now. What you wanna do is navigate to the root location of C_drive or wherever you symlinked the install folder from Steam. Select the folder on the right hand side and then click "open".
@@GothikaGeist In Fluffy I'm given "Choose Game Folder" when I press that I am given two options "choose the game's install folder" or "choose the game's executable" if I click on either a folder window pops up and if I navigate to where I have the linked game folder it shows me all the folders BUT the linked one.

Dont load the game through the the mod manager, play as normal through Game Mode on the Steam Deck

@@titanicsinks21 Yeah, idk Linux is unpredictable in the best of cases. Glad you got it working tho. Once you install mods they'll show up when you run the game in Game Mode automatically. No need to launch thru Bottles.

After following the guide, do I need to launch the game via bottles and the mod manager every time? If so, is there any way to get bottles to work in gaming mode? After launching the mod manager, the window becomes tiny and impossible to use.
You must launch the mod manager through Bottles in desktop mode. You can run the game entirely on its own in Gaming mode. You do not need to run the game through the mod manager through Bottles, and if you do it probably wont work.

And on internal storage.
If it's just impossible to do or despite me following every single thing I possibly can in this video it's just impossible for me to mod DMC 5, reply with "fuck off"
Hey GothikaGeist, I'm trying to mod DMC5. It's installed on my internal drive on steam deck and I followed your guide all the way up to 3:02, where you defined the game path. There's no drop down box or icons at the top like shown in your vid either, everything is on the side and I have to manually go in and look through each thing. But for the LIFE of me I cannot locate the DMC5 .exe file. Tried doing this for 3 days, I'm about to throw my steam deck against a brick wall at this point; I do not understand why it is so complicated just to mod a game nowadays. Is there a way to fix this issue or at the very least drag and drop install mods?
I've just recently placed new instructions for people who use Internal storage on the pinned comment. Check the pinned comment for details but make sure your Flatseal permissions for Bottles matches those in the PINNED COMMENT rather than what's on the video.
@@GothikaGeist Ok I did like you suggested but still can not find the DMC5 .exe file at 3:02 onward. I see the dmc5 folder with all these files in there but I went through each one and found no .exe file
@@corneliustaylor7235 You're attempting to "define game path" and find the exe file for DMC5 correct? If so, when the windows pops up is it only letting you see folders? Can you change the "file type" thing at the bottom right to "all files"? Otherwise, can you find the exe file outside of Bottles when you search local files through steam?
@@GothikaGeist Yes I'm attempting to "define game path" and find the exe file for dmc5. It only allows me to see folders, and no I am not able to change the file type. I can find the exe file when I open dolphin if that is what you mean. I am able to see the dmc5 stmlink with all its folders included, besides the exe file (for whatever reason). I really do not understand what is going on at this point tbh.
@@corneliustaylor7235 You cannot see the exe file in the symlinked folder through dolphin? And you CAN see the exe in the actual steam install location? Could try re-linking the entire folder again and see if that helps. Make sure to close flatseal after you've made the changes too. Might even help to restart the steam deck.
Edit:If you can only see folders will it let you select the DMC5 folder as the installation path?
~~PINNED COMMENT - UPDATED [April 8th, 2023]~~
~~IMPORTANT NOTE TO THOSE WITHOUT SD CARDS~~
If you DO NOT have an SD Card and the game you're modding is installed INTERNALLY then your Flatseal filepaths as shown @ 2:52 should look like this:
/home/deck/.local/share/steamapps
/home/deck/.local/share/steamapps/common
xdg-download
If you followed along the video @ 2:06 and manually copied the filepath at the top it should have still worked out correctly but double-check it yourself.
~~ SOLUTIONS IN CASE YOU GET STUCK - April 8th, 2023~~
Fluffy Mod Manager has been updated and the "Define Game Path" window as shown @3:02 looks different and functions differently. It NO LONGER ASKS for an EXE FILE. It ASKS FOR A FOLDER.
If you still can't see the "game install" folder you symlinked from Steam then try this: freeze frame @2:28 and you'll see the options to toggle "All user files", "All system files", etc. Go ahead and toggle all 4 options, that should allow you to see the symlinked folder when defining the game path in Fluffy.
Once you're defining the game path and the "oldschool" window pops up, navigate to the ROOT (c_drive) of the Fluffy bottle using the left hand panel. Once you see the symlinked game install folder on the RIGHT HAND SIDE PANEL then select it and click "Open" on the bottom right of the window.
I created a monster hunter rise symlink on the :c folder, when i go to fluffy to define the game path, it won't show the mh rise symlink folder
Why :") ?
@@akbaragill00 Did you put all those file paths into the Bottles [Filesystem/Other files] settings in Flatseal? Bottles cannot see those files otherwise. 2:05 - 2:54 is the specific step I'm talking about.
I will say that I'm currently modding MHRise myself so this does in fact work though there have been issues with Title Update 4 a few days ago, but those issues are mod specific.

Idk if you're the same guy who asked on the Reddit thread but I've been able to get Snakebite (the MGSV mod manager) working in past versions of Bottles. You just have to look into the pre-requisite installs for those mod managers. Snakebite needed specific versions of dotNet framework for example.
Bottles should have those dotnet frameworks installable from within the app itself.
@@GothikaGeist that was you ? 😆 Yeah I'm gonna try and learm stuff up for future mods, right now I'm just dropping in a bunch of mods to mh rise and see if it still works fine lol
Thank you so much for this
I'm like an inch away from just selling this thing and buying a Rog Ally. I really hate linux.
We need à PC before no?
You do not need a seperate computer, no. I did all of this on the Steam Deck.
@@GothikaGeist I can install a file directly
@@Leon-S_kennedy I don't know what you're asking. If you asking whether Fluffy Mod Manager can just be installed straight from the internet onto the Steam Deck then no. You need to follow the video to install through Bottles.
If you're asking if mods can be "installed directly" then sort of? Mods just have to be downloaded and copied to the Mods folder inside of Fluffy Mod Manager.
However, some mods might have to be extracted first. Usually what you want is a compressed file (zip, 7z or rar) that has various folder and files in it. That compressed file can just be placed in the Mods folder as is. If the compressed file has another compressed file in it then you need to extract it first.
does this work with DMC 5
It all depends on Fluffy Mod Manager. If Fluffy supports it then it'll work with this method.
I don’t think he’s the exe of the game.
What is this?
this piece of shit is not worth the effort. mods used to work just fine, such a complicated process to get past the "checking for downloadable content" screen even on a fresh install with no mods, it locks every time. I try every few months to a year just to see if it's been fixed but I think it's just a lost cause at this point.
I'm assuming you're speaking of the RE Remakes and not Monster Hunter Rise. Getting stuck at "checking for DLC" screen is caused by mods that use costumes that you do not own. Usually it's the "Classic" (Claire '98 / Leon' 98) and the "Elza Walker" costume. Funny enough, if you go to these costumes on Steam you'll see most reviews mention you need to buy them specifically for mods.
