- A wealthy, obnoxious woman hires a carpenter to do some work on her yacht. When the two don't see eye-to-eye, the carpenter is left unpaid, while the woman, Joanna, sets sail. The following day, after falling overboard, Joanna's fished out of the sea. When she is diagnosed with amnesia, the carpenter sees a great way to regain the money she owes him... he tells Joanna she's his wife; that way he gets a free housekeeper and mother for his four kids.

They are one of the ultra-rare successful Hollywood marriages. You’ve got to conclude they both must be real good people. People of substance, unlike the typical vacuous, self-absorbed drones typical of Hollywood culture.
@@TedwardsTube Their dog name Roy after the eldest son in the movie was in a Budweiser commercial this year for the Super Bowl. Goldie posted on her Instagram page and so did her daughter Kate Hudson. They posted watching it from their home. .. it was great;)

Isnt it crazy how you can hate the woman soooooooo much after the first 10 min, but then love her toward the end.
It's also weird that this is his first time seeing Goldie Hawn in a movie because she made a career out of being the most loveable person in movies.
I used to work as a live-in nanny for the ultra rich & I can tell you that some of them are exactly like Goldie at the beginning of the movie. They were born into extraordinary wealth & were deferred to since they were babies & couldn’t conceive that those around them had feelings & lives of their own. As far as they were concerned everyone else on Earth only existed to serve them. Goldie must have known some because her portrayal was spot on.
Agreed. I was a nanny in London. I worked for a very wealthy family but they were an actress and a film producer so they really weren't bad at all. Wonderful to me - but SHEESH! the parents of some of my kids' friends were right out of central casting. Cinderella was treated better than their nannies.
I long time ago when I was in my 20's I worked for a remodeling company. I was working at a huge mansion. I was stripping old paint off from doors outside, it was about 102 degrees outside. I had ran out of the water in my thermos so I asked the maid if I could get a glass of water. She returned with a glass of water which I drank right then. I then asked if she would fill it back up and I could take it outside? She came back with a full glass and said "Make sure you return the glass because the owner counts all the dishes at the end of the week to see if I have broken or stole any". This house had an indoor pool with a retractable roof, tennis courts and a basketball court and the glass she gave me was a cheap plastic tumbler. The next morning my boss said the owners wife called and complained my radio was to loud and she didn't like that I had my shirt off. I told the boss find someone else to finish the job because I ain't going back there.

Goldie Hawn in the 80s and 90s was a true AAA movie star juggernaut. Also many people don’t realize she’s the mother of Kate Hudson, of ‘Almost Famous’ fame. Kate is every bit as adorable and talented as her Mom.
Kate Hudson was one of my first celebrity crushes.
Kurt was one of the OG Disney child stars. Check him out in "The computer wore tennis shoes" from 1969
I was when that movie came out, making Kurt my first movie star crush. That lasted until I saw Yul Brynner in "The King and I"..

Oh yes, he, Kurt Russell, was a heart-throb back in the day. He was in a lot of Disney movies in the 1960's. Most recently he's been in The Christmas Chronicles. Goldie Hawn (Annie) was originally on "Laugh-In". You might enjoy her in "Bird on a Wire" with Mel Gibson. I haven't seen anyone react to that fun film.

Roddy McDowall was a Scottish child actor, known for some classic old-time movies like How Green Was My Valley, My Friend Flicka, and Lassie Come Home. He was also fairly successful in adulthood, perhaps best known for starring in all five of the original run of Planet of the Apes movies in the 60s and 70s, plus a short-lived spin-off TV series. He not only took a supporting role here in Overboard as Goldie Hawn's butler, he also produced this movie.
They are one of my favorite couples. They work so well together. I know you'll find this hilarious
If you haven't seen The First Wives Club, Goldie Hawn also stars in that one. It's a delightful film with a strong, female centric cast. I think you would like it a lot.

- Screenwriter Leslie Dixon is the granddaughter of famous photographer Dorothea Lange. She's one of the co-writers of "Mrs. Doubtfire."
- Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell have been a couple since 1983. Goldie's daughter from a previous marriage is Kate Hudson, who played Penny Lane in "Almost Famous."
- "Overboard" was re-made in 2018, but with the roles reversed.
- Director Garry Marshall is the brother of Penny Marshall, who did "Big" and "A League of Their Own."
- John Candy was considered for the role of Billy, but he turned it down to work on "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles."
Goldie Hawn is an Academy Award winning actress. Private Benjamin. She began her career as a regular on a tv show called Laugh In, which was done before Saturday Night Live. Lorne Michaels, the creator of SNL was one of the writers on that show.
She won for Cactus Flower, not Private Benjamin.

Yes love “Overboard”! One my favorites. Watch every time it comes on. Goldie Hawn & Kurt Russell are favorites as well. Goldie in particular she just is so bright and bubbly. 😊 They are a real life couple and I can’t remember if you’ve watched a movie with her daughter, Kate Hudson. She reminds so much of her mom.

YES! Agreed! "Miracle" is about the 1980 US Olympic ice hockey team. Russell plays the coach. It is absolutely one of the greatest sports movies.
Several years apart of course Kurt Russell and I were born in the same room of the same maternity ward in the same hospital.
A great Goldie Hawn movie to check out is "Death Becomes Her" from 1992. It stars Her, Bruce Willis, and Meryl Streep. It's a great comedy.
Actually not one of the best movies directed by Robert Zemeckis, but even subpar Zemeckis is still pretty good.
They had been married about 4 years at this point. He did give her a little girl too. Kate Hudson. Another great actress who's romcoms I love. They are still married to this day which is quite rare for Hollywood.
Kate Hudson's biological father is Goldie Hawn's ex, a singer and comic named Bill Hudson, who's had some longtime substance abuse issues. However, Kurt Russell has always been the paternal presence in her life since she was a kid, she calls him her dad, and she's pretty much totally estranged from Bill Hudson. She didn't even invite him to her wedding.
Not his daughter. Not married. Check in from time to time.
Oh, and the breakup rate in Hollywood is pretty much the same as it is outside of Hollywood. You just hear more about the Hollywood breakups because they make the gossip headlines. Successful unions are more boring, and don't sell nearly as well at the supermarket checkout line.
They never got married but have been together longer than most in Hollywood;)

Watch Goldie and Kurt in Swing Shift (1984) - it's delightful. Great cast. Set during WWII.
This is one of my favorites. I still laugh, even after watching it so many times. It's so sweet how much she changes and comes to love being a mom. Just a feel good movie all around! Glad you enjoyed it!
5:52. The lady is supposed to be firming up her neck, so it doesn't look old. I don't know if it truly works but it's a popular myth.
“Romancing the Stone” is another good one from the 80’s.

Romancing the Stone is really not a good movie title, and yet it does describe the movie to a T. There's a sequel, Jewel of the Nile, which is ... alright, but it's nowhere near as good as Romancing the Stone, whose brilliant scriptwriter died in a traffic accident.
Kurt Russell is very handsome ❤️. Love him always have. Him and Goldie have been a couple forever and are awesome together👍.

Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn were a couple in real life. They met on a previous movie called Swing Shift. It's more of a drama. But really good. She won an Oscar in her first movie in 1970. She is known for her comedies. Kurt Russell started in Disney movies in the 1960's. They both still work today. Hawn's daughter is Kate Hudson who also was up for an Oscar for her first film called Almost Famous. Check out that film. It's great. Kurt Russell did a great job in Miracle on Ice about the 1980 Hockey team winning in the Olympics. So there are 3 more suggestions for you. Private Bengamin is another great movie. This was so cute. It's a staple on regular TV as well.

I think the point of the leaking roof, and the hose instead of a regular sink is he's to busy to work on his house while out trying to support his 4 kids solo.

This has always been my mother's favorite movie, and since I was born in 1989 (her first/only child, my father's fourth... and only girl), it has quickly become one of mine, as I watched it constantly growing up. To this day, we all (including my father) adore the film and watch it at least once a year. 🥰

Yup. Some plumbers and mechanics can be added to the group. My cousin (rip) was a good mechanic, but most of his personal cars ran with bandages and rubberbands holding them together. The last thing he wanted to do when he got home was getting grease on his hands all over again.

This definitely was a popular movie back in the 80s. I grew up watching it over and over as it was one of the video tapes in our recorded from HBO library lol. It has always been one of my favorites! Goldie and Kurt are partners in real life and are still together today. Another great movie she's in from this time period was Bird On A Wire with Mel Gibson. It's a great movie too that I'd love to see you react to! Love your channel 👍

I love this movie so much, and I was shocked at how good the remake is. I had really low expectations, but it exceeded them considerably.
First Wives Club with Goldie and The Thing with Kurt Russell. 2 different films but both really good.
I love this movie so much! We owned it on vhs growing up. My mom loved it and we watched it a lot. They made a remake a few years ago with a role reversal. I refuse to watch it. This movie has got a lot of flack and bad reviews from critics but it’s a cult classic that a lot of regular people love. I love Goldie Hawn and her and Kurt are a real life couple have been for years. You can watch “The Christmas Chronicles” to see them together again as Mr. And Mrs. Clause.
You didn't miss anything on the remake. Eugenio Derbez had no chemistry with Anna Faris.

Love this movie, although the role-reversal remake isn't very good IMO.
Kurt Russell started acting at 12 years old and was in lots of Disney movies.
He also played Herb Brooks in *Miracle* about the "Miracle on Ice" (if you know that reference).
Kurt Russell's father was Bing Russell, a fellow actor. They acted together in the made-for-TV pic Elvis, playing father and son Vernon and Elvis Presley.
You actually saw another movie that Kurt Russell was in. He was the voice of Elvis in Forrest Gump

Goldie Hawn is elite Hollywood royalty from back in the day. Her daughter Kate Hudson (father is Rock Hudson) has also become a big star, though sadly past her prime now too. Her movies with Matthew McConaughey are just like this and lots of fun (Fools Gold & How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days) and are well worth a look.

I’m so glad you did this movie!!! It’s such a good one. They really don’t make good movies like this anymore. It’s such a shame because people love them. I don’t know if it’s because of modern day bad writers/producers, modern day actors or a combination of both maybe.
This movie and older ones like it just have a more genuine feel to them and they made you care about what happens to the characters. Going to the movies used to be a whole fantastical experience that made you really feel something. Now they’re mostly just empty, meaningless cgi with characters you couldn’t care less about. Now we leave the movies irritated because of the “artistic” nonsensical endings (if you even get an ending), annoyed with the vapid characters, with a headache and our ears blown out.
I wish my kids could know that joy of what the movies used to be.
Needed to get that off my chest I guess. Lol!!
