I wonder why Madonna was dismissive of writers of the song, Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly. What did they do to her? In the Documentary 'The story of the songs' they kind of go into it but don't give any reasons.
Because she’s a woman, she’s never wanted to owe her career to man or one song. I’m not excusing her behavior, but if she was a man I can guarantee nobody would say shit about it
I don't think Madonna is at fault for anything. It was a good song and by HER making it famous for them, she made those songwriters millionaires from their one hit. This was back in the day when music wasn't free and people still made tons on song royalties
Well at least she has made them a few million each &gave them a funny tale to tell! How she acted is kinda how a star should act-far more interesting than being "nice"😉
She knew exactly who they were you think she would not know who wrote the words of a song she performed? She was rude to them because she resented a hit song she didn't write. I try not to judge anyone maybe it was just youthful arrogance wonder what she thinks about them now.
@@Mike-01234 They said it was 6 years after Like A Virgin. So they finally met her in 1990. Youthful arrogance at 32 years old ? You think ? She's a megastar, and she earned it through hard work there's no doubt about that. But the fact that she can act as a diva and being rude etc. is also a well-known fact.
shane Grim It was by far her biggest hit and breakthrough record. I’d say she owed them a decent amount of credit because she certainly wasn’t going to write that song.
@@mick2spic Nope...... True Blue was bar far her greatest Album, besides it doesnt seem like they introduced themselves so to her they were just fans who don't know her personally
People were already a fan of hers before Like A Virgin... She had had like 5 singles already by then. It's not like they "made" her. She made the song, lets be honest. Well, her and Nile Rodgers.
That "silly demo" was pretty much copied note for note by Madonna, right down to the hey! And the "when hold me, and you touch me" parts. Have a listen. ruclips.net/video/GsttxzlrHHI/видео.html
Even though Madonna made the song big, she still owe them some respect at the same level as her Managers. The writers usually are more acknowledged professionally for credentials.
Video starts after 1:00.
Everyone knows Madonna is like this but her fans are like Michael Jackson fans and think she can do no wrong!
Madonna made these two more famous than the other way around, if you ask me.

mark janssens No one is saying Madonna did anything wrong. It's just a funny story.
These guys wrote some pretty huge hits for other artists (So Emotional, True Colors, Alone, Eternal Flame)
Well let's face it what can you say if you're a star and someone tell you" I wanted to meet you in so many years" ?

Matthew Baxter I like hearing stories when stars are nice. No need to act any different because you are a star.
were they introduced?? No! so for her it was just some random people who were in the industry coming up to her gushing about.
Come on...you can't really believe that she didn't know who these guys were! She's not stupid! She was purposely being rude...a brat...a diva!
Rodney Davis So?
she IS a diva after all.

No Madonna made the song. She already had quite a few hits on her first album! Like a virgin was her second album.

Just because you wrote a silly demo and Madonna made it perfect that doesn’t mean you are entitled to anything, that’s how the industry goes.

Hello, they barely changed the demo
@@kristuti1 Yeah, wish I wrote a zillion selling "silly demo" like they did!

Madonna made their song a hit and they kept talking nasty about her... telling stories.
She was disrespectful of them because she didn't want her fans to know she didn't write that song. She should treat people with more respect.
