You are one innovative thinking kind of guy Jason! I don't even want to go that fast for that far of a ride at my age. Please be careful! I love it though!
I'm pretty sure you're the first guy I ever saw do an internal chain drive mod on a transaxle on youtube.. I do have a Spicer I did that to like 10 years ago and i know being able to run the same speed without over driving the belt is sooo much more efficient! With a regular 40mph pulley swap you can lose up to half the engines power even before it gets to the transaxle (which itself is hugely inefficient)..that combined with the fact u replaced 2 clunky greased gear power transfers (which sacrifice power for torque) with one way more efficient piece of chain you will absolutely see AT LEAST 50% more power at the wheels in your highest gear.. the point is you are getting way more power to the wheels with a given motor and top speed setup meaning you can run much less power (ie much lighter engine) and probably still go faster and accelerate better. less weight=less need for bulky parts=less weight=better turning stopping and speed=×D... did you ever check out my homemade quad with a mower trans converted to side shaft input? It is by far the most efficient way to use a mower trans I'm limited to pretty much 10hp with it but it's faster and smoother than any of my mowers some with close to 3× the power... and it's silent too!
P.s... please make a custom front axle if you plan on going over 25mph.. you can mod a stock front axle to be safe ish but point is it can be done super easily if u can weld and if not it's still easy.. I have a couple vids on steering geometry, how to build one from go kart parts or how to make the stock setup at least wanna go straight and more important how to make it turn better with a locked rear end than it ever could with an open dif and stock front end. but I could do a new vid if you want really the secret is caster it will make it naturally go straight and turn way better at any speed any terrain
You did that with a spicer? I couldn’t tell if there was a good way to do it with a spicer or not, because it looks like the case is too tight inside compared to a peerless case. Do you have any pics or insight? Because I would really like to do it to mine
@@TheBeeMan1994 there was room for a chain in the spicer that I did.. it depends on the trans u have if you have the weird spicer with the long axle that goes through a gearset and is super compact idk if it's doable.. the spicer I did it on is a pretty close copy of a peerless 930 I did do a bit of clearancing and grinding and used a nylon chain guide but it wasn't too bad
Did you have any luck with the chain setup? I am thinking about trying it. As for your problem with wrecking gears, i wonder if overdriving the input would help? Think of a Harley Davidson's primary drive, or look one up. It is approximately 2 to 1 ratio from motor to transmission. That means it's putting 2x the engine torque into the transmission. Now to the peerless, and a 1 to 1 pulley input.. the ring and pinion input ratio is 3 to 1 on the peerless transmissions. That means 3x the amount of engine torque on the transmission, that's alot! Using a 6 to 4 overdrive setup, your at a 2:1 transmission ratio. An 8 to 5 setup would yield a 1.875:1 transmission ratio. I think that's what race mowers do, pushing 40 to 50 hp. Sorry for the windy reply, hope it makes sense!
e bay... but there are different versions of the 820, which one is which???? they all need gear/motor oil in them FIRST THING. it shd have a yellow plug on top of the transaxle that u can pop off, shift the shifter so there is a hole in the shifter thingie under the hole and pour oil into it . not supposed to be full, but cant tell how much in in there??? so.... 8 oz? 10? 12 OZ? I JUST FILED MINE UUP, THE REST WILL LEAK OUT SOMEWHERE... THE AXLE SHAFTS/BRAKE SEAL TO COAT THE BRAKE WITH OIL, SADLY BUT GOT TO HAVE OIL IN IT TO GO fast fast fast as the bentonite grease is made to go 4 mphh ... not 40 mph. the reverse chain can break and ruin the transaxle??? from lack of oil or long long long runs in racing? maybe if dont race LONG HOT HARD the reverse chain will hold up... with lots of motor oil/gear oil blend in the transaxle????

I’m going to attempt my first pulley swap soon
Should be pretty straight forward and simple. Doing the trans axle and engine pulleys?
Offroad MudMowers probably just the engine pulley but if it goes well I’ll do the trans
Hey were did you get the differential swap parts
Hell yea

Hell yeah
wheelies with swamp tires in mud? no wonder the itty bitty lawn mower gears break
Is this possible with a peerless 801?
Let’s see donuts!
I don't wanna see my trans axle blown up!
You have tons throw a spicer in it then do it LOL
What does the peerless 820 come off of ?
