    KLC got one of the best custom Snares every!!!!! That No Limit Soldier Snare was epic...As a producer, I gotta be honest, I tried to duplicate that snare, and I cannot create it...It almost sounds like a clap, with some type of snare played in Reverse or slowed tempo...

    These Guys are Legends to me, back then i was just listening to those three camps (NL, CMR, ROC) and they are the reason why i´ve started to loop beats. thanks for the video / interview

    • @devastator44
      @devastator44 8 лет назад

      +BeLoop1Back You can do so much with looping. It's crazy .. it doesn't have to be as complicated in the realm of hip hop and that's the best part. You can work smarter not harder, and with a good artist it makes the whole blend that much better... it should really be a chemistry. Not just a dude making a beat and a dude spitting and 0 communication between the two of them.

    Shout out to the whole panel, but at 8:40 when Guru said "Just making the beat don't mean anything" You can't say all that you stated, and then end it by saying just making the beat don't mean anything, because the beat is where the original SONG comes from. The idea, the HOOK, the THEME, the INSPIRATION. The BEAT is usually in the trenches where the mic is at. Which sparked the flame for the song idea, and rawness. Without all that the producer who is finishing the song production and polishing and editing the mix ain't got sh** to polish and edit. Now if he would have said "Just making the beat don't mean anything when it comes to putting out sure fire polished hits," then it would have made a little more sense to me personally.

I WISH JOHNNY J was Alive to do this Interview and would love to hear his talk on Mastering the SP 1200 and producing timeless hits for Tupac and everything else he put his fingerprints on. But still a excellent interview and wished it was longer

  • @devastator44

    Guru is on point about his answer as to what differentiates a producer from just a beat maker... its simple. You're just involved in the overall product, not just the instrumental part. EQing vocals, layering... editing, cutting parts out... re-editing... def not a job for a lazy person lol

    I love the talent & dedication of Young Guru even though beats & rap/hip hop isn't my favorite genre. He could fit in on a rock or jazz session- he's a pro. My favorite hip hop was Dr.Dre & that era (Nate Dogg, Eminem, Snoop, etc), where there was sampling but lots of Eric Elizondo and written music & grooves was the centerpiece. I still have issue with a track completely made of sounds from other records.
    The funny thing here was these guys commenting on the ease of getting sounds young guys have today, the Internet, sample sets, the lack of producers just tons of beat makers, etc. It shows humans and generations are always the same because cats the generation before these guys were saying "They're stealing shit off records" and slamming the unlicensed Wild West of pre sample clearance. It's interesting to see we all favor our generations music production no matter the genre.

      +Nejc Lampič facts

    • @whoopdattrick23
      @whoopdattrick23 9 лет назад +10

      +Nejc Lampič only a sucker who doesn't know anything outside mainstream music would say that. The 808 is used universally in all genres of music, and some variations of it are layered with other sounds or unrecognizable to someone such as yourself, so stop hating on 808 and learn something.

    • @rlmpproductions
      @rlmpproductions 9 лет назад +6

      +Nejc Lampič I wouldn't say replace it, maybe use it in a different way. Let ATL ride their own waves for inventing trap music. The 808 is an overused instrument because everyone jumped on that trap style. The south was always using 808 as the main drums. But I see what you're saying though.

    • @mchawkjunior6500
      @mchawkjunior6500 7 лет назад +2

      I don't think he meant replace the 808 entirely just the same old 808 sub that we hear all the time in trap music. There are so many variations of the 808 that you wouldn't even think are 808s that no one really uses

      2) I am not a doctor but you don't have to be a doctor to notice this dude is hopped up in every interview.
      3) I expressed admiration for him and the hope that he can get his shit together. I did not indicate that my comment would give him the help he needs. That isn't jealousy, that's called genuine concern.
      4) It's the internet and it's accepted that people are allowed to express their opinions. There's 100000x homophobic, bigoted, or sexist comments on RUclips yet you are taking issue with someone expressing concern for another. Get a fuckin' brain so you don't spew more trash.
