    Congratulations! Of all the English language Tolantongo videos, this one has the most helpful logistical information.
    Starting in 1983, before the resort was developed, I've visited Tolantongo five times, in May, June, July, November, and December, most recently spending four nights down in that canyon in 2023. The weather was great each time I was there. The food is tasty but neither classy nor upscale there, and not surprisingly it costs a bit more than is usually charged by restaurants located in small towns and Mexico City's working-class neighborhoods.
    When arriving at MEX by no later than mid-afternoon, it is very convenient to bus directly from that airport to the City of Pachuca and then quickly transfer to another bus that will take you to Ixmiquilpan, Tolantongo's attractive gateway town/market center. After arriving in Ixmiquilpan early in the evening and spending the night there, the next morning it is possible to visit that town's market (fresh fruit, pastries, peanuts, cheese, and hand-made tortillas to take to Tolantongo) and the unusual colonial era church before busing onward to Tolantongo, arriving at the 'resort' by either mid-day or mid-afternoon. Doing so three times on non-holiday weekdays, I've always been able to get a room.
    For people who arrive by bus rather than private car, it is logistically much more convenient to stay at the riverside La Gruta hotel rather than the Paraiso Escondido lodgings that are mentioned in the video. Traveling up from the river to the Paraiso Escondido area, with its many pools, can be accomplished either by taking a shuttle or by walking for thirty-five minutes along a path that passes through attractive scenery.

      Thank you! I appreciate you adding this first hand information on the transportation situation since we didn’t take that method but maybe next time. We’ll be back for sure 😊

    Best to visit on a weekday non holiday 😊

      Totally agree! Unfortunately a weekday wasn’t possible for us since it was just a weekend trip but we still enjoyed it. Definitely avoid holidays though especially Semana Santa!

    Wow, super comprehensive! I would love to camp along the river! Too bad that there isn't great food over there, would you have to drive out to another city for more restaurants?

    • @AnyoneCanTravel
      @AnyoneCanTravel  Год назад

      You would have to drive pretty far for food. There are some restaurants on the highway but it’s a good 40 minutes to an hour to Ixmiquilpan the biggest town nearby.

      Is not true. There plenty food. There are a restaurant inside plus there are many places around that area. Check country collectors videos. They are more specific

      They rent broiler to cook in the river There is plenty food. You can bring food too. This lady in the video is totally lost the hotel very nice and clean there are few hotels.

      There is lots of food at Las Grutas but it wasn’t great. I was referencing if you wanted to eat outside of Las Grutas you would have to drive a bit. You can definitely eat there. That’s what we did. We ate at three different places in Las Grutas. They were only okay.
      Bringing your own food to cook is harder if you don’t live in Mexico but yes they rent grills and lots of camping stuff if that’s what you want to do…
      I shared about all the hotels as well so I’m not sure why you’re saying that I’m lost either.

    is parking limited???

    • @AnyoneCanTravel
      @AnyoneCanTravel  7 месяцев назад

      There were plenty of spots available when we went! The river/grotto area has more parking than the area with the pools though. There is a bus between the two areas too if you’re nervous about loosing your spot when going between the two areas.

    Very picky lady. If you want we can empty the place and bring Beverly hills restaurants over. Cancel camping. Install a reservation program that only allows club members. Don’t try to change our way of life. Leave Mexico like it is PLEASE.

      Hi! I’m not sure why you think I want to bring fancy restaurants or a club. I never said anything like that. Being able to reserve your hotel room in advance would be more convenient but it’s not the end of the world if you can’t 🤷🏼‍♀️ The food wasn’t great but I wasn’t visiting for the food so that’s fine. We had great barbacoa off the highway on the way back. There’s nothing wrong with camping if people like camping they can camp. Personally I don’t want to camp but that doesn’t mean you should get rid of it. That would be insane to say they shouldn’t have camping just because I don’t want to camp and I didn’t say that…
      Visiting can be confusing to people not from Mexico so this is intended to help more people visit Mexico and not just stay in resorts in Cancun and Cabo. Las Grutas Tolantongo and Mexico are amazing so I’m sorry if you thought I was saying they aren’t…

      @@AnyoneCanTravel I got it. But my intention is like omg those prices 10 dollars per day. Hopefully the don’t rise prices. If can I’m going a full week in the hotel there. Is super cheap. But I understand your point too. Hopefully more food choices and better roads around there

    • @AnyoneCanTravel
      @AnyoneCanTravel  8 месяцев назад +1

      The $10 a day entrance is kind of expensive already for Mexico so yes hopefully they don’t raise it. Many cenotes in Riviera Maya and Yucatán are already so expensive now. Compared to the US the hotels are cheap but still inaccesible for many families in Mexico. I don’t like to comment on what is cheap or not since it really depends on what your family is used to or where you are from. I just want people to know what to expect and how to best plan for their trip. 😊
      Better food would be great but it’s also kind of far from everything so I get that it may be the best they can do for that price. Personally I didn’t find the roads too bad actually so that is a good thing.
