The amount the players get will be split equally among the players, both male and female. That means the men will make more bonus money than they would have under the old agreement even though they have to split it with the women. If the men should win it all, (not likely, but if they did) they would still receive a higher bonus than any other mens team would have if that team had won the cup. No wonder the men agreed to this. The next World Cup will be split 80/20 in favor of the players. The contract ends in 2026 so it covers two World Cup tourneys. After that, who knows? This means the women will get a big increase in bonus money but the amount won't depend very much on how well the women's team does. It will depend far more on how well the men's team does. If my understanding is correct, and the men were to win the World Cup, the women would be paid the same bonus as the men and a bigger bonus than the men's team that came in second. even if the women were to be eliminated in the first round. This is the best I can make out but I could be totally wrong. I'm sure others have a clearer understanding and I hope they post it. It isn a very interesting issue.
