I just ordered this rack and thru axel adapter through the description and they sent me the sea sucker cup holder on accident 😐 I hope it’s not difficult to swap out because it was over $300
Had to LOL when you brought up the quick detailer....I was already planning to do exactly that prior to getting to that part on your video. Nice review mate! Cheers!
Wow! What a well produced video! I was looking for a review of the rack because I just bought an F-type and I stumbled on this great channel: cyclist and car enthusiast. No many of us that overlap like that.
I have to say, a really good video and demonstration. I purchased my Sea Sucker a couple of years ago, but for some reason never used it. Just taken delivery of a Pinnacle Gravel Bike, which I intend to move around on my Range Rover Evoque. Your video filled in all the gaps for which I thank you. Liked your riding. Regards.
Thanks for sharing!! I would love to use the SeaSucker Suction Cup outside on my sunroof for my GoPro while going through Utah and Colorado next month but, I'm afraid it could potentially crack the glass pumping it up. Thanks again 👍
Thanks Jonny, very useful indeed. Thinking of getting on of these for my ST3 instead of borrowing the wife's car when I meet up with mates over 15 miles away.
Hey dominic did you ever buy one of these and if so what year is your st3? And did it work well? I have an ST2 2016 and i cant find a fixed roof rack for a 3dr so considering this. Just wondering! Thanks!
@@theCOOLskaters360 In the end I didn't get one for my 68 plate ST3 as I thought it was too expensive. Well put review. I stumbled on this product while looking for a bike rack. I wanted to ask you how well this do on bumpy roads? Granted I have a 2012 honda accord, it gets kind of bumpy even with the slightest hole on the road. Thanks!
Fantastic review. Just curious, I noticed that you put the husk universal fork mount on backwards, or rather facing the opposite direction. Wondered if there was an added bonus to this?
Jacob Beattie Hey! Thanks mate 😄 my advice would be to pick an editing program (mines adobe premiere) and then RUclips the hell out of it. There’s so many awesome tutorials out there, which is where I learnt from 👍🏼
JB CTR Awesome, thanks for the advice! I can actually get Adobe Premier for free through my work. I’ve also got Final Cut Pro from an old job. I’ll take the time to learn them while I stay at home!
Lovely review man! Have a Focus ST so this was very convenient lol. Quick question though. How much space does the wheel take up in the boot? I do go long distance with my bikes so I have to put luggage with the wheel.
Nice bike, you should do some mtb riding video to,didn’t know you was into bike as well,if I had one of these I would get a shower rubber Matt and just cut holes in it so it goes around the bike rack, don’t have to worry about marking your roof then,at the moment I take my back seats down for my bike
Dai Bennett I thought about it, but it’s bloody knackering making mtb videos as you have to run around with the camera, and then ride past it too 😂 we’ll see - maybe more in the summer 😁
Hey Jonny great review thanks for taking the time to put it together. Looks solid and fast to remove so you can keep the car looking clean when not carrying a bike. I think I saw a locking cable for the sea sucker mounts which might be handy at the trails but I guess anyone with cable cutters could nick them

Great video man! I came here for the bike rack review, but I’m actually interested in that fiesta. What year is it? It looks much more sporty than the fiesta st here in America, and i also noticed it has 4lug wheels, which I think is one less than the US fiestas.
Thanks. It’s the MK8. This is one of the first ones and is a 2018 model. 1.5 3 cylinder engine producing approx 250hp. Unfortunately this model didn’t make it to the US. I have endless videos on this car if you’d like to know more 😁

So the only difference from having the quick release and not having it is that we now have to use an Allen key every time ..... I just got a Stumpjumper expert and really wish it was easier like when I got the rockhopper with quick release. Cool video man, cheers from California
Theoretically yes, although I’ve now switched to a quick release and the bike seems to be more stable in the rack. Perhaps I wasn’t doing the Allen key enough but either way, I’d recommend the quick release. Downside - my quick release was obscene money, but never mind 🤦🏽♂️
Hey! Yes that has been on my mind since I got the car 😄 reason for delay is that it needs to be lacquered once the wrap is removed which makes it a very permanent change. I also need to find someone I trust to do it 🤣
Hey, awesome review. Thank you. I’ve got probably pretty similar roof in terms of size, opening, etc. Can I ask whether the monkey bars would be a good choice since they would have to rest on the opening part of the roof? Would that make some damage to the machinery under?

Nice 1 for this, I'm sick of taking both wheels off my bike to get it in the back of my Fiesta St. I don't have the sunroof on my car will the suckers work as well on a standard roof?
lew is Hi mate. Yup, it works on painted roofs too. It won’t work on wrapped panels though. The only issue (specific to fiesta’s) is that the MK8 has ridges on the roof. You need to locate the suckers in very specific positions to navigate round these. I know this, as I used it on the Performance Edition. So in short, yes it works, but a bit more fiddly on a fiesta with no sunroof 👍🏼
Question - it's nice to know that you can fit a remedy up there, but can you fit two frames side by side - got my nukeproof mega that i wanted to put on the roof too, if my next car doesn't have roof rails or the pre-built recesses in the gutters. Good old swinley eh!
Good review, thanks. I guess my main worry is losing control of the bike while trying to mount or dismount it and having the forks ding my roof. Has this ever been an issue? Or any problems losing pressure while using the rack since this was filmed? Swinley's also my local trail centre btw!
That’s for the review, and great to see you again! Question about the Sea Sucker, how safe do you think it is and are you confident using it full time ?

I’m sat here wondering if it’s easier to fit the front and rear suction cups to the bike before lifting the bike up. You’d need to ensure you don’t dirty your cups in the process however overall I think it would be easier this way.
Front yes, rear no. On the rear, if the wheel were to rotate, you'd have to move it again to ensure the suction cup was at the bottom. I think that would be a bit of a pain!
@@JBCTR maybe the weight of the suction cup would stop the wheel from rotating as much, and maybe the pedal strap could be used to hold the wheel in place. I’ll give it a try when mine arrives 👍

Gabor Lehocky The roof rack also fits with the Pano roof, so I had that option too. The reason I chose this over the roof rack/bike rack combo is that I wanted a fork mount, and this was cheaper and it can also be used on any car. @@JBCTR It can? When I was checking the official ford fiesta accessory webpage (the Slovakian one, I am from), it said it was only for non panoramic roof cars. Gabor Lehocky Yeah I believe so. I do agree that this particular rack is very specialised. It’s for bikes only, so a proper rack will always be more versatile.
For the price of those things, you can just get a towbar installed on your care and use a real bike rack that wont kill somebody when your bike comes flying on the highway,.....
Problem is a hitch could scrape the ground, especially with a rack when pulling into parking lots and it could place carbon wheels and tires directly in front of your exhaust.
I'd be mindful of using this longer term especially for those with pano glass on the car. Whilst I understand using suction cups on glass in several industries is common, tempered glass - already on an application (car in this instance), plays a part in the structural integrity of the car. All OE's have to make glass to a certain standard (EEC guidelines I believe) but there may be no provision for load bearing on certain vehicles or Pano options so always check your owner manual / with the OE for guidance. Don't want to be a kill joy but I used to work for a manufacturer and they can be prone to failure (larger cars especially). In the event you're carrying one of these and the it shatters your insurance could be invalidated and you'll have a sore noggin from where the suction cup slams you in the head compete with forks 😔
@@JBCTR you can put something under the bike offcourse and that won't cost you a very very very crazy 359 euro's 🤣 you can buy a tow bar for that kind of money.
MERICA #1 You can, but you then also have to store it and buy a set of bars for each of your cars. So if you have multiple cars, this is significantly cheaper and easier to store 👍🏼
Mr_RS exactly what I intend to do lol. My OH has no interest in bikes so we have two cars, one bike, and I’m usually on my way to meet friends at a location. So for me, it’s perfect.
They release very gradually, so it's not like they just fall off. The orange bands on the pumps are really visible if they are getting loose. Plus, each cup is so strong, you could definitely lose one cup and still have your bike on the roof. I have full faith in it now after many miles of use!
Just put the seats down and put the bike in the back . That’s sucker thing looks a bit dodgy to me and there’s a small chance of denting your roof if you miss !!!
The only thing worse than these racks, is the casagrande family that owns the company... if you shake a casagrande hand, your free hand better be on your wallet

The roof is much easier to clean than the inside of your car 👍🏼
@@JBCTR you can put something under the bike offcourse and that won't cost you a very very very crazy 359 euro's 🤣 you can buy a tow bar for that kind of money.
Can't see how I won't get anxiety driving with this. Anyone want to reassure me?
Still in use over a year later with zero problems ;)
It’s all fun until you forget your bikes on the roof 😂
That's the same with all roof racks ;)
Wow 300$ I can get a Thule for that much sea sucker customers are suckers
MERICA #1 You can, but you then also have to store it and buy a set of bars for each of your cars. So if you have multiple cars, this is significantly cheaper and easier to store 👍🏼
So you’re going to carry your one bike on your multiple cars, don’t think so. It’s a bit pricy in comparison but looks neat.
Mr_RS exactly what I intend to do lol. My OH has no interest in bikes so we have two cars, one bike, and I’m usually on my way to meet friends at a location. So for me, it’s perfect.
I would be scared to put them on my roof, u never know they get loose
They release very gradually, so it's not like they just fall off. The orange bands on the pumps are really visible if they are getting loose. Plus, each cup is so strong, you could definitely lose one cup and still have your bike on the roof. I have full faith in it now after many miles of use!
@@JBCTR Agree. Each cup can hold 210 lbs
Everyone has glass roofs ffs
Just put the seats down and put the bike in the back . That’s sucker thing looks a bit dodgy to me and there’s a small chance of denting your roof if you miss !!!
The only thing worse than these racks, is the casagrande family that owns the company... if you shake a casagrande hand, your free hand better be on your wallet
I'm very concerned with my my car's paint
