    as someone who is both a keyboard and a guitar player, i am still undecided. i feel like in a live-performance situation i would usually have my hands really busy either by the guitar or the keyboard, so if i can control the entire loop system by foot it would be better, making me lean towards the rc 600

    Guitarist here, I got the 505 mk2 with no regrets. It's way more customizable and has a much better workflow. That's why it is used as an industry standard. You can use external pedals (like the FS-6 or FS-5U) via expression and control jacks or use a midi foots witch pedal. I like to set my track lengths so I don't have to press the track play/dub buttons again to close the loop.

    Great vid! So…rc600 for guitarist, 505 for keyboard player…how about if you want to play guitars and synths on the same song?

    • @brentbrownmusic
      @brentbrownmusic  2 года назад

      Thanks Sanjio!
      It really depends how much stuff you want to set up and there is no right or wrong. If you want a synth and the 505mk2, you need a table or stand that will fit them both in a way you can reach.
      U could also do the 600 and then a small stand or attachment to the mic stand for your synth depending on the size.

      And I would say both are good for it, but this video really lays out the pros and cons. It would likely be easier and require less additional gear if u play guitar to go with the 600.

    How do you keep your loops leveled without faders on the RC 600?

    • @brentbrownmusic
      @brentbrownmusic  Год назад +1

      You have to have it set how u want, and then play at the volume u want.
      I also use an expression pedal port and control the master volume with my foot.

    Hi!! I see you have a TC Helicon VoiceLive Play,right? where do you put this looper in the chain? as the VLP has only XLR outputs, I was thinking if I should put the looper after the VLP to capture the voice and guitar with effects..how would it work? thanks!

    • @brentbrownmusic

      I don’t use the guitar effects from the TC going into the looper. I just use the fx on the looper for the guitar.

      Farmer footdrums I'm guessing? Very cool John! Worst case, you could try both and return 1:) I just have both because I love each unit for different things. Maybe the 505 would be cool though since you are gonna be heavy on the feet already.

    • @brentbrownmusic
      @brentbrownmusic  2 года назад +1

      Honestly I perform differently which each. So for the finger drumming and full orchestration I prefer the 505 because of the faders and knobs at hands reach. But for a setup that’s easier to carry around and use, the 600 is a great bread and butter rig; It’s primarily what I gig with.
      I’m also working to perfectly document where the glitches I get occur, because that’s the only way BOSS fixes. I already got 1 thing fixed.

  • @user-ih8vg8hu4d

    I read for finger drumming you prefer the 505. I play the hang pan (drum) equal I guess to finger drumming. New to the the loop stations but also do not want to get another after using awhile. Mainly to use in sound baths, meditations and solo drumming and hoping to create wicked sounds to record. Which would recommend?

    • @brentbrownmusic
      @brentbrownmusic  10 месяцев назад

      I only have both of these loopers. Honestly depends on how much setup u want. The 600 is easier cause it can be footswitched and live on the ground. The downside is there are no independent faders. U can use an expression pedal to control total loop volume tho.
      If u wanna keep it simple, the rc-600 i think is easier and still very powerful.
      If u want more fx control with the knob at your hands and faders, then the 505 mk2.

    Is rc 505 mk2 and a midi pedal (like behringer fc1010) a good solution to play guitar and loop with some hands reach functions? Consider that I'd use just the 505 effects and amp simulations, I just use clean sounds for acoustic, ambient and dream pop songs... Thanx

    • @brentbrownmusic
      @brentbrownmusic  2 года назад +1

      Honestly I kinda want one just to try this out. I really can’t see how you’d go wrong with that. My only concern is potentially latency for exact loop starts.
      The ctrl pedal in should be used for primary looping because there is a millisecond delay to MIDI

    • @l.g.5899
      @l.g.5899 2 года назад

      @@brentbrownmusic yes I'd like the midi also for the expression pedal, I love the idea of rc 505 mk2 for both worlds (manipulating effects with hands in a sort of dj stile and even guitar style). Can hear the sound quality is way better on 600 from listening to the you explaining each one.
    I have noticed a nasty compression that happens on my RC505 that just crushes my guitar tone, wondering if the 600 will solve this.

    • @brentbrownmusic
      @brentbrownmusic  Год назад +2

      Part of it was that I still hadn’t dialed in my tone as well. Different voice pedal on the rc-505 in the video and guitar.
      I’m soo much happier with my sound now. This from my last show I played with it.
      ruclips.net/video/Clp7fYHpgNU/видео.html
      First, make sure the master compression isn’t on. Then try turning down your input gain; Preferably before it hits the 505 if u can. Or else in the EQ or on the mixer.
      Then turn up the total volume.
      Any time compression is happening without compression on, that is a sign u are sending too much signal through the pipe and clipping.
      Hope that helps!

    • @brentbrownmusic
      @brentbrownmusic  8 месяцев назад +1

      What kind of midi signal does your Ampero send? If it’s not CC numbers, then it may not be compatible. Read page 20 of the rc mk2 manual and also reffer to the Ampero Manual to compare what they say under midi programing/sending/receiving.
      This is about as far as I can get you.
      static.roland.com/assets/media/pdf/RC-505mk2_eng03_W.pdf
      But maybe I’ll make a video in the future explaining how I use MIDI on my stuff.

    can you make one or the other, be like ableton looping or loopy pro ? meaning that you can tap record any time after the end of the loop and it will record to the start of the next one so you could get ready then stops to how many bars you set it to ?

      You know, I find them both amazing in their own ways. I use the Rc-600 a little more, but it’s because it just works better for my acoustic setup to have on the ground.
