- Our Reaction and Review of The Last of Us HBO series, episode 1 and 2. TLOU HBO proves a video game can be adapted properly to a live-action film or show.
The Last of Us takes place 20 years after modern civilization has been destroyed. Joel, a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie, a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey, as they both must traverse the U.S. and depend on each other for survival.
Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian, Wonder Woman 1984) and Bella Ramsey (HBO’s His Dark Materials and Game of Thrones) star as Joel and Ellie. Gabriel Luna (True Detective) as Joel’s younger brother and former soldier, Tommy; Merle Dandridge (The Last of Us video games, The Flight Attendant) as resistance leader Marlene; and Anna Torv (Fringe) as Tess, a smuggler and fellow hardened survivor.
The series guest stars Nico Parker (The Third Day) as Sarah, Joel’s 14-year old daughter; Murray Bartlett (The White Lotus) and Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation) as Frank and Bill, two post-pandemic survivalists living alone in their own isolated town; Storm Reid (Euphoria) as Riley, an orphan in Boston; and Jeffrey Pierce (The Last of Us video games) as Perry, a rebel in a quarantine zone. Lamar Johnson guest stars as Henry and Keivonn Woodard as Sam, brothers in Kansas City hiding from a revolutionary movement seeking vengeance. Graham Greene guest stars as Marlon and Elaine Miles as Florence, a married couple surviving alone in the wilderness of post-apocalyptic Wyoming.
Written and executive produced by Craig Mazin (HBO’s Chernobyl) and Neil Druckmann, of The Last of Us and Uncharted video game franchises.
Carolyn Strauss (HBO’s Chernobyl and Game of Thrones) serves as executive producer, along with Evan Wells from the original game’s developer, Naughty Dog, and PlayStation Productions’ Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan.

Loving the show so far! Loved the nod to Resident Evil with the slow head turn when Sarah first encountered an infected.
The Sarah is too different than the game Sarah though.

You have a second channel??
Why not just keep everything on your main channel?
The main channel is primarily dedicated to Resident Evil. We’ve tried to branch out in the past and while some enjoyed the new content, the majority was not interested.
This tells RUclips’s algorithm that people are less interested in the content, thus affecting all the content as a whole.
This channel gives us the ability to do that, while still appealing to YT’s algo on the main channel. In a perfect world, it would be convenient to have it all in one place but unfortunately that’s not how it works.
The ones that failed didn’t stick to source material or took out too much. Also not developing characters
i luv show it was fantastic but only thing is Joel daughter didn't look like daughter in game but they made absolutely like game.... episodes 2 was strange start but it didn't effect episode at all i am sooo looking forward to more episodes of show, i luv how they didn't make their own theme they use game theme :)))) witch made that gold as fuck...... at least i would say sadly Last of Us TV series made it better with budget, look, how true it was then to Resident Evil Welcome to Reccon city sadly that game has game elements but still not to true game sadly... great show

Watching the first episode makes me disappointed in RE. The original RE game brought the zombie genre back when it was dead and should have been the first game to be best adapted into a series or film. Sure the Anderson movies made a lot of money, but they were loosely based on the game. The first game is a perfect setup for a series too about a small town. The sequel would have taken things to another level dealing with an outbreak in the city. Just very disappointing that the LOU's first crack at adapting their game was better than all the attempts RE had.
LOU was a good game, but something about their infected doesn't feel scary to me. It's an intense game, but I don't consider it horror. It doesn't really deal so much with the infected either. It's more melodrama with people problems. RE has a fantasy horror element to it that I think I would prefer. Their zombies are more traditional, but imagine a RE zombie series that shows the slow decline like the keeper's diary. It could be just as good if given the proper care.
Finally someone did a live action series on zombie based videogame right and didn't butchered it like RE welcome to racoon city 🥲
