Shamila Batohi is conflicted and has no ounce of objectivity in her. Mzwanele Manyi's questions rattled her. Ramaphosa committed multiple crimes by trading in and keeping large amounts of foreign currency at his farm. He also ran a business not a charity organisation whilst occupying the highest office in the land. He used state resources for personal gain by chasing after criminals for a matter he intentionally failed to report to the police
I agree Jamie. Shamila is too defensive. She should just have said that if an independent party feels the matter isn’t resolved and has the financial resources to take it further then no problem. I think it’s just as well we have this provision of private prosecution in our law as it’s a balancing power against the abuse of power.

We are busy dissecting the NPA alone but what about SARS and SARB. Why are they silent not pressing charging for tax evasion and illicit financial flow. Why the Public Protector is not pressing charges against Ramaphosa? Is the court system and judiciary only a tool for the DA to use?

Allow me to agree with you on the conflict of interest theory pertaining to the minister of justice, shamila batohi and the reserve bank governor. Ramaphosa is getting away with murder because all these people are afraid of holding him accountable because he's the one who appointed them. First it was Kholeka Qcaleka the new public protector who cleared him of any wrong doing on the Phala Phala matter. The flood gates where opened from then on for Lesetja Kganyago to absolve Ramaphosa on this scandal, then it was SARS who followed suit and now it's the NPA. So it is true that the man is enjoying some presidential privilege that even the constitution doesn't accord him. I wonder what verdict justice Maya is going to give when eventually this matter reaches the concourt because she was also appointed by him.
Should she do that meaning protect President then all those who were found to have been guilty of the same criminal offense then I they must apply same law used not to find Ramaphalaphala guilty of such wrong doing and it means that the parliament must then scratch off that act cause it would seem rather useless in my view.
