Is it weird that months ago I bought the full Civ 6 collection on Steam but I still haven't played it yet because I am just too addicted to watching Ursa Ryan's videos instead?
Not at all, I’ve basically done the same thing with Stellaris. Sure it’s cool and all to play it yourself and learn, but it’s so much more satisfying to watch someone who knows exactly what they’re doing just jam and mess around
I started watching this with captions because I'm in public and MAN the auto captions cannot handle the Britishness of Ursa. It straight up wrote Mali as "Marley."
Ah, the ring of preserves set up... I did that in the Sahara on the huge Europe map before. It's interesting to experiment on how to get cities with yields in pure desert. Obviously not quite the same, here. But it's fun to plan everything out and then put it down like that, anyway. Though playing Yongle in the snow is quite the concept. Novel. Should be fun!
It’s always tricky to transition off of a Mali/Portugal playthrough where you were able to get anything you wanted because of endless gold. This stack of Yongle+unique governors+secret society playthrough is going to be so ridiculously strong! Perfect follow up to the Mali series
Herbalist is my favorite secret society. Preserves deserve a lot of love. I will advise you to still build a few districts in your 2 first cities, like 2 campuses with one at the foot of a mountain to get all the eureka. 2 industrial zones and 2 harbors, it help a lot and allows you to build a few good wonders too.
Dang this looks like a great set up for a game. Laid back and comfortable to victory. Shame i stopped playing before thenfirst dlc came out for VI. 😂 Now im a father i wouldnt even have the time if i tried, especially with my pc. Id have to limit myself to 100 turns per game or the turns would take too long haha Thank you life for the existence of youtube and wonderful youtubers like wor Ursa.
I've been watching Ursa's videos for over a year now. Usually by the end, my ADHD has taken over, and I am just listening to it on background. Even so, I end up memorizing the patreon list by ear legit an episode or two before he updates it. This is the first time I've sat and read the list itself. With that said: I thought the two patrons were "private selection" and "genuine salami. I realize now it's private selection genoa. And salami. And I'm not sure what to do with this information. It will both be COMPLETELY irrelevant to the grand calculus of my life...but also haunt my waking dreams at least twice in the next six months.
Haha my fault for not paying full hyper-attention. Your voice is quite soothing to mellow out to, after all. You and potato are the reason I'm playing on emperor difficulty regularly now. Thanks for all you do!
In today's episode, Yongle, and it's all about appeal. Beijing gets settled on the continent of Nuna, and the Chinese Warrior gets sent scouting while a real scout gets built. The warrior discovers Hattusa, and the scout discovers a nearby coastline. A barbarian camp is discovered, and code of laws shortly after, with God King getting selected over growth or production. Akkad gets met, with China being the first to discover them, and the Chinese Pantheon is earned, which is Earth Goddess. Tsigny gets discovered, together with Hermetic Order and the Harmonists, with the latter being joined by China. A Holy Site starts to get built just east of Beijing, and the Chinese Warrior disperses a barbarian clan. The holy site in Beijing gets finished, and a settler starts to get produced. A new continent gets discovered, and with it, Foreign Trade, a settler gets delayed a short while for a cunning plan. A barbarian scout gets up into a Chinese scouts personal space and gets told off, and China's first Settler gets built. God King gets removed from the Chinese government and Urban Planning gets put in. Xi'an gets built near the desert, and it gets decided that their first district should be, not a preserve, but a holy site. And Longxi gets built in the Tundra, on the Yangtze river, right next to a ley line, and a +4 holy site gets placed in the city. A barbarian warrior appears outside of Longxi, and shortly after, China earns the worlds first Great Prophet. The Chinese Religion gets founded, and Ursa's two favorite beliefs quickly gets selected (Feed the World and Tithe). Early Empire means another governor, and the Pioneer is quickly recruited and put in Beijing. The World enters the Classical Era, and sadly no golden age for China, Exodus of the Evangelists gets picked as the era's dedication. A barbarian warrior decides to play King of the Hill with a Chinese Warrior, but isn't even near good enough, and Mali is met. Hattusa gets suzerained, giving China access to a source of horse, and Mali wants to be friends. Beijing recruits a builder, places a preserve, and recruits China's first missionary. The Chinese Warrior goes in search of Barbarians, and Portugal gets met, and with them Armagh. Then the meaner version of the Ottoman's get met, as their army approaches Hattusa and Xi'an. A barbarian camp appears close to Longxi, before some strategic resources are sold to give China a stockpile of money. A Mercenary Swordsman is recruited, and Lahore is met, with Dido of Phonecia shortly after. The Ottomans, realizing Hattusa's army is larger, decides to back off for now, as China continues to spread their religion. An Arches is recruited in Beijing, which together with the Swordsman should keep the Barbarians at bay, then Kupe is met. The Ambassador gets recruited and sent to Lahore, while two envoys get sent to Akkad, making Yongle their first Suzerain. Mitla gets met, a trader gets built and then sent towards Hattusa, and Akkad kills the Barbarians next to Longxi. Nan Madol gets met, and since Akkad is just standing on the Barbarian encampment, Ursa decides to Levy them. Political Philosophy means China's first proper government, and Classical Republic gets chosen. The Barb Camp next to Longxi finally gets dispersed, granting the Eureka for Machinery. After being tempted to use Lijia to boost Beijing population to ten as fast as possible, Ursa decides that the better play would be to build Ancestral Hall first. Another Governor promotion means that the Pioneer gets upgraded with Surplus Logistics for faster city growth. Xi'an reaches four population, which means that a preserve gets placed. A Barbarian Arches makes a mistake in getting close to Chinese lands, and another Barbarian Camp gets met, one that offers boats. The Chinese cities get renamed to decidedly unchinese names, after the Channel Supporters. Ursa discovers that Phonecia has invaded and taken Mitla, and a temple gets built in the Chinese Capitol. Lahore gets suzerained, and mostly Portugal gets revealed, then Ethiopia gets met. An Apostle gets recruited, and the Chinese Religion gets upgraded with Holy Order. The Ancestral Hall gets finished, and the settler spam begins, and since a Governor promotion was gained, the Pioneer gets upgraded again. Matthew Wilkinson (the city, not the person) hits ten population, which causes Chinese yields to start to pop off. Hungary gets met, fortunately they appear to be far away, then Zanzibar gets discovered. A large number of Barbarians are discovered in the Frozen wastes south of China, armed with Crossbows. Will China's apostle manage to convert Barbarians before it gets ganked? Will Hungary or the Ottomans become a problem? Will China manage to gain insane tile yields? Turn in next episode, same Ursa time, same Ursa channel!
Fun fact, Mr. Ursa! You may have realised it while playing it, but I'm going to mention it at the risk of being overbearing... When you finish building Ancestral Hall, the game gives you a free policy swap, it's really useful!
I wonder if Ursa will remember to build city centers next to Preserves, as we learned recently... wouldn't that be a monstrously awful challenge, to only be allowed to build a city next to a Preserve?
Can you explain the gold/settler trick from the beginning? As I understand it, the prod and gold cost of an item are tied together. So if you start a settler that costs N prod and it costs k*N gold, buying the settler out would make the existing settler cost N+M prod and k(N+M) gold. So I think in terms of total yields it costs the same either way you do it. In the game it looks like you took a settler from 1 turn to 4 turns of prod. And got one settler immediately via gold. But if you had produced the settler with prod, you would have been able to buy the settler with gold a few turns later bc gold was coming it. And in the example, it looks like you got the cities out just as fast as if you hadn't done it. I love to learn more tricks, so I'd like to know where I'm thinking about this incorrectly.
No that's pretty much it - the more settlers you make, the mroe they cost, and the cost for production & gold scales the same (unless you have discounts or cards that change it) It's a case of looking at your production and gold and seeing which one is going up faster. Early game it's easier to get production, so use your gold first and let your production catch up the gap in cost faster = ) Sometimes it's the other way around if your economy is based on trade!
Random question, but do you pronounce the word "schedule" the American way ("sked-jool") deliberately? Most non-American Anglophones I've heard pronounce it "shed-jool."
I played civilizations expanded mod before, it was fun but did not last and I cannot go back to it. It really enhances weak civ abilities and gives some civs certain directions but it changes some civs mechanics fundamentally like Khmer and I dont like that, even the Lite version did that, i dont know if the updates changed it but it was the case when I last played
I expect to see some *juicy yields* in this game. The reason most of us play Civ6. *BIG YIELDS* edit: *gets the lotion and paper towels ready for the yield p*rn*

Disconnected my console a year ago; he is my fix for Civ😀
Not surprised you've got Civ on console lol Just kidding @@johnoglesby-vw7ck
I have the same problem myself, with the same or greater number of hours watching Civ6 and HoI4 than playing those games themselves.
Same here
Always love to see some Yongle content on Civ, he's like top 5 civs for me in this game
Never a dull game!
Ursa rerolled for a start? 7 times? The success is getting to his head!
been spending most my life living in a tundra paradise. theres not much but snow and ice living in a tundra paradise.
22:24 Don’t worry Ursa, even Arthur C. Doyle plugs his other Sherlock Holmes stories in his SH stories XD
I started watching this with captions because I'm in public and MAN the auto captions cannot handle the Britishness of Ursa. It straight up wrote Mali as "Marley."
really appreciate that you upload every day, and play this long an complicated games. had to drop a comment for the algorithm
*can't wait for the yields!!!! they are so satisfying!* 💪👍
Huzzah!
Looking forward to this one! Love broken Games with just Big Numbers on those Preserve-Tiles!
I understood the Coolio joke because of his initially cool reception to "Amish Paradise." He warmed up to it later, though.
The last few games
🔥Everything is fine!🔥

just went to my home page and saw this got posted 30 seconds ago XD
and i saw it posted 30 minutes ago
this secret society "leader" look like he was about to say "Jassie we need to cook"
Gotta be honest, was not expecting a Coolio reference today :D But it was certainly appreciated :)

Doctor Ursa, im here for my daily dose of yields, please infuse it directly into my veins!
I can't, the yields are TOO MANY
Ursa is about to get away from those giant crabs! Congrats!
Huzzah!
Can't blame you for mentioning that Mali game, that was insane!
When you re name that city’s that is golden definitely mimicking end of video 🤣

Ursa felt bad about curbstomping Yongle last game.
Ursa you were meant to destroy Yongle, not join him!
I am the dark side
Inserts "I think we all know where this is going" meme...
I wonder if Ursa will remember to build city centers next to Preserves, as we learned recently... wouldn't that be a monstrously awful challenge, to only be allowed to build a city next to a Preserve?
No way, Civilizations Expanded! My favorite abilities-altering mod to play! After this mod, it's kinda hard to go back to basic and simple Vanilla.
I often don’t have the attention span to finish some games but as long as it is Yognle or Mansa Musa I can finish it.
Just had a City, 8 Pop, 180 Production and food
Thanks bush fires i guess😂😂
I sometimes wish you’d do just a vanilla multi city normal run!
"Let's get started!"
"And now, for an important update"
I'm literally two and a half minutes in and I'm already looking forward to the YIELDS
Civ expanded and bear governors? Thats just my usual game lately
Such an amazing combo!
Ooh, I get a city!
You said "dogapult" !!!
woof
Go for it early bear
Huzzah!
love me some trousers
Yongle the Dongle
I have been summoned
