Craig, All I can say is thanks! Serious, whoever does not enjoy everything you are doing for the hvac world...is either just negative and a hater or could possibly have a learning disability. You people cannot deny that Craig has not dedicated a large portion of his life ( which becomes larger by each day ) to the hvac/r vocation, period! His book/study guide are top notch guys! The information within is priceless and the quality of the book, TOP NOTCH! From the binder, the cover, easy read pages, it has Craig's style from front to back. In other words, he did not allow some cheap publisher to bind a bunch of transcribed crap together and call it a book. Trust me on this! Sweat or tears of joy/misery will wipe right off. Lol! They are hummm, ummmm, some type of lamination/coated pages. I am not trying to misrepresent, not like your bonded driver license, but actually scaled down with large print. Hey Craig! If you ever read this, please help me out with the composition of your book. Guys/Gals the material is a treasure chest!

Hoping someone can comment here? We have a Bryant Preferred Series 15 SEER 4-Ton Heat Pump. It's from 2013. It always Cools excellent but in Heat Pump operation, it struggles to heat the house, even when it's warmer at 45 - 50 degrees outdoors. When installed, the installer took the piston out of the liquid line adapter at the outdoor unit. The matching indoor coil does have a TXV. Was the piston metering device not needed in our case? We just recently started using the Heating capabiltiy of the system. Thanks and really enjoy your videos.
Hi Scott. Did you get an answer to your question? You will need to have a metering device on both sides of your unit, because it is a heat pump. You can find out the size of the piston on the manufacturers website. Get another tech to install it for you and you should be fine.
@@Dinocrus500 Thank you! The Indoor Coil has a TXV and the Outdoor Shipped with a #67 Metering device, taped to the unit. The Installer said I don't know what I'm talking about. With Summer, we don't need heat. I have a set of gauges and a 2-Stage, 5 CFM vacuum pump. I have scales, R22, core replacement tool, Vacuum Micron Gauge. I bought all this stuff when my R22 Heat Pumps on our rental duplex were damaged. We bought new R22 Units and installed them with a friend as no one would do the work. Maybe I can fix the Heat Pump myself?
I believe that you can pump the refrigerant back into the outdoor unit and then add the piston then vacuum down the lineset and then release the refrigerant back into the system. You may need a recovery pump and tank. I wouldn't think it would be too hard to find an hvac pro to do this for you. Then you could be sure. +- good luck
@@Dinocrus500 I agree. I'd rather pay someone to do it correctly. The first hired company did it wrong. We don't even know if they vacuumed it down correctly. The Bryant Preferred Series uses King Valve's I believe and the installer didn't know how to use them. He was searching Google for help.
I think you just got a trainee or apprentice. What you are needing is pretty basic and any reputable hvac company can help you with it. Do you still have extra R22? That would likely be the most expensive part of the project, and you may not need any more than you have.
@@ericbrobst8160 yes I’m in Hvac school at the moment but how he shows trouble shooting is much better explain then my teacher. And a book on trouble shooting components/electrical would be a life saver while in the learning process.

Love your videos, very easy to understand and great topics, Do you have any videos on hydronic systems?
Thank you 🙏
Any time!
If system has indoor txv and out door piston. While in cooling mode do you change by subcool or superheat?
Damn...This dude is like a surgeon lol. But in the HVAC world.

Hey, is there a book you have on troubleshooting? Furnace gas/electric, heat pumps and so
Would also be interested in that.
