Gotta consider that CC achieved these numbers despite battling: Being face-guarded 94 ft, double teamed, blitzed and bullied; playing for a bad team who couldn't catch her passes two months into the season, and playing for a coach who tried everything to stop her from succeeding. After all that; she still makes a case for the best PG in WNBA history. All this while dealing with all the pressure, and the hordes of haters and minimizers. That is an astounding accomplishment.
Her stats got better second half of the season, which is probably only going to be better next season. She 100% deserved ROTY and it wasn't even close.
People also need to keep in mind that women's basketball games are only 40 minutes vs 48 and the women's game is much more physical. She did it while being the focus of the opposing team's defense every game.
Her nickname Poneytail Pete came from Pistol Pete Marovich, who's all time NCAA scoring record she broke, and also who people have compared her to as far back as high school
clark had no break after her college season so she had a little shooting slump in the first half, which put her 3% down. especially as she was exhausted and getting used to the best teams/defenders triple-teaming her... but midway during the Olympic break she was able to rest and get her legs back and in the 2nd half she went on a tear... she was averaging 25ppg in the second half.
Kudos for finding that SportsCenter video on the best moments. I've been looking for that one and, now that I know what it's called, I STILL can't find it. So I really enjoyed seeing it again. Also enjoyed that you cobbled together all the videos.
She had two triple doubles and was a rebound away from her third triple double but the coach took her out of the game. Steph Curry said Caitlin has the same release time and same range.
Clark came into the league 2 weeks after being in the NCAA championship game. No rest, no preseason and had to play on the worst team in the WNBA. They played 11 games in the first 20 days going 2-9. Nobody on the team knew how to play with her. They weren't ready her speed, they weren't ready for her passes and there were a lot of turn overs. Some say she was snubbed by the olympic selection committee. She was but I think it was a blessing in disguise. That month break gave her and her team mates to bond, workout and get ready for the rest of the season. from 2-9 they went to 20-20 (that means 18-11) and into the playoffs. In her rookie season she broke 62 WNBA records. ROTY definately. In my book MVP too.
Yea, Google LIES...all the time. CC is just over 5' 11". Find a search engine that doesn't prioritize, or round up for convenience and politics. Also, watch Cunningham in these highlights, and you'll know why she wants to play with CC, and hangs on her during the All-Star game. They have a teasingly fun relationship despite the competition. It seem borderline 'Lexi' admiration and mutual friendship. Then again, They all played together over the years...
Clarks height wasn't lies about due to google it was her measurables coming out of college. They do this all the time with athletes making them bigger than they are.
Dude lol hate to break it to ya - you didnt know all bb player heights on the roster are exaggerated. Starts in high school and only gets stretched more as you go. So college, nba etc - all are wrong. ALL.

That’s wild
I appreciate the way you slow down and replay clips on prime play action 👀❤️
CC#22👀🐐🏀❤️🔥💐🏆✅
OK, I just found it. Really appreciate you putting the exact title in the notes. Nice job.
Not roti but mvp also.
Your ICK factor in that one part is spot on.

Compare her Rookie Stats to the other Guard's that won ROY in previous years of the WNBA.
6:59 it was indeed not her first try, it was her second
Funniest comment: "Why you still here???!!!"
She's 6ft
I was watching,but you talked too much😢😢😢😢
