Much respect to all those serving in the military for their hard work and commitment to protecting their country and allies abroad.
Former machinist here. There's a lot more work in making those wierd and precisely shaped airplane parts than you think because you can't weld or cast aluminum. You have to start with a block of metal and cut it down until you get the part. Most of the material goes in the recycle and robot cutting machines do most of the work but it might take a semi-skilled worker all day to make 100 VERY SIMPLE parts while the bigger structural parts we did often took three guys all day to make a couple dozen. This is why airplanes are so expensive.
Working as civilian contractor in Iraq and Afghanistan 2006 thru 2012 I always LOVED getting an opportunity to travel in the Osprey. When those huge wings rotate into forward travel the acceleration G's you feel in the cabin is awesome!
I hope that all these incredible machines will be used in training missions and not in combat wars. All the staff working on these amazing planes deserve our respect.
The F-35B is the most essential component of our broader strategy in securing the pacific. A stealth fighter, fleet defense and strike fighter, deployable from a network of many tiny, faster ships is the only viable naval aviation deployment strategy moving forward. Super carriers are too large and vulnerable to sail within 400 miles of China ground-based anti-ship cruise and ballistic missiles, in wartime. These ships can sail closer and can spread the power over larger areas. They are smaller, cheaper, harder to track, and as a distributed system, if one leaves for repair, you don’t lose an entire limb of our forces… The carrier can act as the center of the hive, of the distributed system. Moreover, carriers can then shift their operations to larger, heavier aircraft for long-range strike, interdiction, surveillance. AEWACs, refueling, logistics, etc,,,,
That's like saying the Commodore 64 computers from decades ago are old, let's build new ones. No you don't just build the same outdated airframe. I saw the first iteration of the A-10 in 1976. (Won't say where) It was so new the flight crew covered the cockpit so Soviet satellites couldn't see inside. Ironically, it was the Army/Marines who lobbied to keep the A-10 in the inventory because of its infantry support capabilities.
Problem is the A-10 was never particularly good at CAS. Now it's so outdated it's horrendous they we're putting people into these planes still and subjecting troops on the ground to it as it's so dangerous for them. This plane has more blue-on-blue incidents than any other airframe.
Yep, but the F-35 is a multinational program, not an American airplane. It was financed and developed by multiple nations, and its different components are built by multiple different nations.
This is a dumb question, but if the age of the A10 is an issue, can't they just make new A10 aircrafts? I agree close-air support is a key asset the plane provides that the F35 isn't really designed for.

The F-35 doesn't seem like a replacement for the A-10. t seems like aspects of the plane's envelope (low cost, robustness, massive ground assault capability) can't be replaced by the F-35. Also, imagine Iran getting hold of F-35 tech and giving it to all of their buddies, right? Not to mention that the USAF could buy several A-10s for the price of one F-35. I think I'd ask the Army if they like the A-10. That's what the plane is there for, after all. Are ground troops and tankers happier with A-10s hanging around, or do they prefer Apaches and the new choppers being developed? A replacement with a higher ground speed seems like a good option.

A10 is the most overrated airframe out there. Killed more blues than any other plane, and constantly needs to be updated because it can't do the job it was designed for anymore.
In this vid some of the guys were saying that the hardest part about flying the f35 is absorbing all the information like where to look and what to do as different situations arise and what instruments to monitor etc. A really good gamer should be able to absorb multitudes of information relatively easily lol, the f35 simulator is basically a rlly good life like video game lol. So if you want to be a fighter pilot in the future, get yourself or your kid an Xbox like the one I built in my thumbnail😊. The military or the government need to Stop phasing out all the other aircraft for the F35 it's going to create problems in the future and cost a lot more. I can understand phasing some aircraft out but they are phasing out way too many tried and true aircraft. IDC how good the f35 is. Everyone always says it's the best plane they've ever flown(almost like they were coached into saying that) but it never needs to get close enough to dogfight so go figure. I could go on all day about reasons to Not phase out other aircraft simply because they think the f35 will be able to do everything those aircraft can better. Guess what we have the f35 now, o ok so were good to phase out the c5 and the b2 then 😆.
Between the A-10ll and the F-35ll is that the stealth will not help the F-35ll in close combat because it's close and if it is going out for ground support I would hope it would be in Murder Spec meaning all hard points and indoor fully armed F-35ll like a A-10 would be also. So stealth doesn't help! Those F-35's will get blown out of the sky over the A-10...

Having personally been in the shit when cas finally gets there and they have an A10, it would be a terrible disservice to ground pounders to mothball them. Just KNOWING there are A10s on station makes you feel better leaving the wire.
i cant imagine how much easier this thing is to fly than the harriers. also i bet when u have toworry less about landing - you are probably able to get better at dog fighting instead.

Hard to believe how much info we are willing to put online.
Retiring the A10 is not a good idea 😢
😮The F22 Raptor fighter jet was for ways better in dog fightings in the sky.The Pentagon budget should of including of making more F22 Raptor fighter jets.
They need a new dedicated close air support jet that is low cost but still able to do the job
With the A-10s why not just make new versions of it with more advanced features
Can't afford to join$ but really enjoy and agree with all you stand for. Enough respect from the uk. Russia are committed now and will not stop expanding unless they are stopped somehow ? I wear my green zelenski sweater with pride. Keep the highly researched accurate honest videos coming my friend. Glory to Ukraine 🇺🇦
The A-10 is needed to support ground troops and just needs to be replaced with new planes not retired.
By being corrupt, that’s how. Slash the defense budget by 50% and actually invest in working families.
Shut up and get drafted
Wouldn't matter the bureaucrats would figure out a way to take funding meant for families anyways

Well basically Understood, How Hard & How Long U Could Become an Expert in that Field.

A10 pilots are Attack Pilots not "Fighter Pilots"
1200 hours. some of these gamers could be legit pilots by now
How? By overinflating prices and leeching continuously from the American taxpayer.
Pay your taxes you bum
Amd still people have been voted these Corupts poltician again ans again and doesnt wants the things to change
To be an actual Vibrant democracy it should be Multi party and not just 2 party state
And also the No ban on lobbying grp
The next gen of air warfare won't need pilots, drones will take over the aviation's tasks.
