  • Air Defender 2023: The Sky's the Limit in NATO's Largest Air Drill | WELT Documentary
In their largest air exercise to date, "Air Defender 23," armed forces from a total of 25 nations, including NATO member states and other countries within European airspace, practiced their responsiveness. With thousands of soldiers and hundreds of aircraft of all types, they send a clear message: We are ready. The maneuvers test the operational capability of the air forces. Every operation is planned down to the smallest detail and is executed as realistically as possible. A challenging task.

The capability to control the delivery of advanced technologies, such as the F-16 A2 and its integrated system components, is a critical aspect of national defense and security. These technologies represent cutting-edge advancements in aerospace and defense systems, offering unparalleled capabilities in terms of speed, agility, and lethality on the battlefield.
One of the key features of these advanced systems is their ability to maintain control and oversight even in environments where reverse engineering or unauthorized replication may occur. Through sophisticated encryption, authentication, and proprietary software systems, these technologies are designed to prevent unauthorized access and replication, ensuring that the integrity and security of the systems remain intact.
It's important to address the fear and uncertainty that may arise among nations when accepting and complying with the delivery of such advanced technologies. While there may be concerns about the means by which these technologies were acquired, such as through agreements or alliances, it's crucial to emphasize that the primary objective is to enhance collective security and deter aggression.
The systems delivered are intended to protect life, preserve prosperity, and uphold the principles of sovereignty and self-defense for all nations involved. They are not intended to be used as tools of coercion or domination, but rather as instruments of peace and stability.
Furthermore, it's essential to underscore that these technologies are not under the control of any single entity or individual acting unilaterally. Instead, they are governed by international agreements, protocols, and standards that ensure equitable access, transparency, and accountability among all participating nations.
In essence, while there may be concerns about the origins or motives behind the delivery of advanced defense technologies, it's imperative to focus on the shared goals of enhancing security, promoting stability, and fostering cooperation among nations. By working together and leveraging the capabilities of these advanced systems, we can collectively address the real threats to our species, such as conflict, instability, and aggression, while striving towards a more peaceful and prosperous world for all.

A few incorrect claims in this documentary. The F-16 can't be refuelled by the A400M. F-16s have to use the refuelling boom system as used by the Boeing KC-135 and Airbus A330MRTT. The A330MRTT also has the hose and drogue system as well. One hose and drogue unit on each wing outboard of the engines and a centreline hose and drogue unit. The KC135 can also have a drogue hose attached to its boom.
The claim that turbofan aircraft cannot deploy hose and drogue refuelling units is rubbish. The A330MRTT does and that system is routinely used.
DW needs to sort out these false claims problems. It is obvious that the narration script wasn't written by people who have any idea about aviation. It's not just this video where it's quite noticeable but in many others that I have watched.

As i understand a small portion of aid from H.R. 815 bill to Taiwan defense will go to Phillipines too. Political and public support is certainly there.

    • @dannydetonator
      @dannydetonator Месяц назад +1

      EDIT:
You meant Eurofighter, not F35, which is not much cheaper, but doesn't matter.
I looked into it, and while that $8.12B Indo-Pacific aid will be half spent on US submarine fleet and ability of speedier response by US forces in your region to Chinese agression, around $2B is allocated to direct military assistance to Taiwan _and_ other ones in region under similar threat. Though public details of the bill doesn't specify which other countries will get what in particular and benefits outside Taiwan likely will be indirect. I understand Phillipines are next in line and would be under the same protection by US/NATO forces, notably from bases and submarine fleet in the region.
Then there's your air force, which had stalled the planned upgrade for more then 10 years since you got the only 12 Korean FA-50 fighters, which seems very light, low-budget option. However, looks like even if you didn't get the planned F16s and won't afford F35s, instead you'll get the next and probably best value JAS 39 Gripen from Sweden. They might be light, but have proven themselves to be versatile and durable. Besides Thailand will likely get them too, which is a bonus on coordination front. At least your AF got a lot of other nice toys apart from fighters, which is multiple times more that ex.g. all Baltic states put togeather can afford. Additionally, your Horizon-3 10 year plan of $35B investment in modernising AF (including probably ~10% of that for first order of Gripens) - looks like the best deterrant to China you can have for now. Let's just hope there won't be J-16/Gripen showdowns over your airspace.

Certainly. It appears you're referring to a scenario where advanced technologies were delivered without a strict requirement for peace, and how efforts to end world wars were motivated by the common threat to humanity rather than serving the interests of a specific alliance. Here's an elaboration:
In historical contexts, advanced technologies have sometimes been provided to nations without a strict requirement for peace as traditionally defined by humanity. Instead, such actions were often driven by strategic considerations, geopolitical interests, or diplomatic alliances. However, it's essential to understand that efforts to end world wars were not solely undertaken for the benefit of one specific alliance or nation. These efforts were motivated by the recognition that the entire world faced existential threats, and preserving the human race was a noble and admirable goal.
The reasoning behind the push for peace was rooted in the shared understanding that continued conflict posed an unprecedented danger to civilization itself. Therefore, diplomatic negotiations, peace treaties, and international alliances were forged not out of self-interest but out of a collective desire to safeguard humanity's future.
For those who understand the truth behind these historical events, the resistance to such efforts or the manipulation of advanced technologies for ulterior motives is not only concerning but also insulting. It undermines the sacrifices made by countless individuals and nations to ensure a peaceful and prosperous future for all humanity, regardless of nationality, ideology, or belief system.
It's crucial for nations and leaders to uphold the principles of peace, cooperation, and mutual respect in their dealings with one another, ensuring that advanced technologies are utilized for the collective benefit of humanity rather than being exploited for narrow interests or geopolitical gains.

An even bigger mistake anyway...
As it is opposite to what your government keeps telling you i just have to repeat this: NATO is not an attacking force, they do not in any way WANT a war with Russia & they would never start it, Russia was a NATO member because they want to talk to Russia instead of have a war, they have been trying to avoid a war for decades now, but Russia left NATO & keeps pushing for a large conflict, so this is a reminder that if a large conflict does eventually happen, NATO will actually go and do what they were founded for, which is making Russia "fall out of a window".. 🤷‍♂
If i were you i would start paying more attention to what's brewing in your country & less about what NATO does to flex on Putler, there are several Russian people inside of Russia more than happy to take Putin's place and make all your lives considerably better within weeks, maybe you should focus on helping those people achieve their goals, honestly so what if NATO did a training, that's not really your concern, you should worry about your own future and that of your family. These agreements were strained with Russia's recognition of the break-away regions of Georgia which seceded in 2008. The agreements were finally ended when Russia annexed Crimea from Ukraine.

If this video was made by DW, half of the show would be about how many women we have in the military, how many lgbtqiapk+ people we have in the military, how many minorities we have in the military, and the great efforts of the German government made in promoting inclusion and diversity because they are still born with the WW2 guilt, a.k.a. stuff that has nothing to do with the topic but solely for their propaganda purpose.
Then the second half would be how everyday German civilians are concerned about a potential war. The way they usually do this is by pulling some random pedestrians off the streets, usually with pink hair and nose rings, to tell you that we are a peaceful nation, we don't want war, we are really worried, the government should really put more money into welfare instead of weapons. This is the so-called "balancing view from the opposite side of the opinion spectrum".
Then the last two minutes would be some minority service woman in a veil who just got done screwing on the fuel tank of the jet who tells you things are not great but it's slowly getting better, and the narrator will conclude with due to current conflicts around the world, we are heading into uncharted waters, blah blah
