👍 This was also my first SLR back in the 70's and I recently purchased a mint K1000 for my collection purely for nostalgic reasons. Fully operational with a lovely spotless f1.7 lens and honestly doesn't look as if it has ever been used. Looking forward to using one again after a 50 year+ absence 🙂
step 1: clean and test the k1000
step 2: take some artsy photos of the k1000
step 3: sell the k1000 to some hipster for more than it's realistically worth.
step 4: buy a super program/super a
step 4: Better still, buy a KX, MX or LX. The K1000 is vastly over-hyped. It was actually a down-graded KM, which was basically a Spotmatic.
My dad had one and I have it, now, but I could not figure out how to open the film hatch. Thank you for making this video!
Just for future reference it's a pretty common way of opening the film door on SLR cameras of this era even from other manufacturers. But still is probably a good idea to look for a video of find the original manual online.
Yesterday I thought I had rewound the film and opened the back ... after 45 years I can still mess up!!! Great video!!!
I have a Pentax K1000 with a 50mm 1.7 lens and love it's simplicity. Just a needle in the viewfinder plus and minus. I also have a Pentax Spotmatic that I have had since the 1970s. 55mm 1.8 super Takumar.
I am selling my Nikons but will never sell my Pentax cameras.
I never knew but where do the photos go they don’t print out in this camera how to get them after taking them?!
@MESSIUUU, you need to get it to a film lab so they can remove the film and develop it for you
I am just about to go shoot my first shot. Thank you!
Enjoy the Pentax! Its a great camera.
My first SLR on which I learnt so much.
My dad just passed away and my uncle is selling the house, found this camera with a 3rd party lense. Already started to put it to use.
where can i purchase a Pentax K1000 brand new? thank you
I have my father's k1000 along with three lenses. The light meter is no longer accurate but I actually enjoy using a sunny 16 rule or using a light meter app with my phone if I'm doing long exposure photography at night. Strangely the light seals are in good shape and to my knowledge they've never been replaced.
I grew up with this photocamera. My dad taught me how to make quality photos with it. Now after quite few years i started to use it again. Firstly what i learned is that in those 20-15 years film got expensive. 20 euro for 36 exposures... So seeing you wasting so many of the film got me anxious 😬
thank you for helping me learn about this camera!! you explain so well, i continue to come back to your videos
Thank you so much!
Thank you so much.
