    100% recommend the Puig Windscreen add-on. I put it on my Tuareg not really expecting much and the difference was very noticeable. I even thought something was wrong with the bike because the engine seemed so loud, until I realized the reason that was, was because the wind noise from the helmet had gone down so much you could simply hear it much better. Plus, the fact you can leave it loose enough to adjust up and down without having to keep loosening and tightening the screws is a nice feature.

      As a taller rider (185cm/6'1) I would suggest the tall wind screen. I can ride with my visor up! I have a similar add-on on my Tiger 955 to the puig addon. I'm not at all down playing the product. It may very well suit shorter riders. But lemme tell ya. Having zero buffeting on this bike is a completely new experience to me outside of a goldwing.

      @@precise1329 totally agreed. The Puig extender I have works so well that I don't even ever extend it anymore. Even at its lowest point, I have no wind buffeting on my helmet at all.

    Hey ADV-H. I'm also really enjoying the Aprilia tuareg. In addition to what you've already listed, here's a few other suggestions. Center Stand. T-Rex Racing is a company that builds them in Texas. And it's one of the easiest center stands to install, and operate. Effortless to stand it up almost. Arrow makes a header pipe that eliminates the heat bubble issue. Kind of a grey area whether you want to go that route depending on your regional statutes. Keep your old pipes for registration day is what I'm saying. HIGHLY suggest an after market bash plate. Stock one is a one time abuse item. It's fine for deflecting rocks and such. But if you get any more sketchy than gravel, it's not going to last long. Keep the rubber side down.

    Thanks for the video. I pick my bike up this coming week. I have not owned a bike this big since I was a kid (35 years ago), but after the motorcycle refresher course I found the muscle memory comes right back like I had owned one all along. You must be in NJ then? I bought a truck that had spent its life in the pine barrens - barely any paint left on it. Wawa is one of the things I miss most. Thanks, again.

    Quick update. Looking back on all my bikes, the Tuareg was really my favorite. I strayed from it for a while in the last 6 months, trying out a smaller bore 390 adventure to more easily gain skills on a lighter bike. It was great, but hated the lack of power I was used to and of course its smaller wheels and I felt small on the road/highway. I went back up in engine size but to an 890 Adventure R since I really always wanted it - always thought if it as the ultimate adventure bike. And it is! But it comes with a price. It’s very tall, and seat is relatively wide, so even with the low seat on, I felt it was too tall to ride comfortably. I’m short tho, so that’s my issue. Nonetheless, the riding position is aggressive, I felt I was on top of the bike rather than in it - which made street riding feel a little less confident. Electronics could give you issues. Luckily I had none at all - so I was thankful I never had cold start single cylinder, key fob or engine cutouts during quick shifting. But in my prior experience on the Norden, I know I got lucky. Suspension is unbelievable. Really loved it. Ride modes are great, especially with Rally mode. But honestly the Tuareg’s customization is better and comes standard! A blessing and curse, the 890 has more power, and it’s AWESOME. But there’s so much pep at the low end unless you’re in rain mode that I felt I needed to really watch myself. Off road throttle was nice as well but street mode was pretty twitchy. One of the main reasons I wanted the 890 over Tuareg again was more power, but of course, I now consider the Tuareg’s power plenty, and its power delivery much more enjoyable to ride with. I’m on a break from riding now that my second son is Earthside. I’ll be back on two wheels someday - but if I had to choose a bike today it would be back to the Tuareg (at least if all the ones I’ve owned so far!)

    Highly recommend the Zumo, if for no other reason than it doesn't overheat and shut off on hot, sunny days. The mapping features are really good.

    Nice review. Did you go with Aprilia crash bars? They seem a little low. Have they come in handy yet? Did you consider using aftermarket bars at half the cost of the stocks and offering more extensive protection?

    • @advhour226
      @advhour226  Год назад +2

      Hey David I did go with the Aprilia crash bars. I got them second hand for $150 so they were well worth it for me. I think they offer pretty decent protection but also feel better about using OEM product given that it is bolted to the engine. Anyway, I would go with Outback motortek bars and skid plate if I was starting fresh. I’m still looking for a good skid plate with the OEM bars but I’m not doing crazy off road stuff so I’m taking my time with that decision for now. First time I drop the bike I’ll let you know how the bars hold up!

      That’s funny, man. Nah I sold the Klx as well. It took a hard nap in the sand and the fixed it up and sold it 😂. Either the 390 or 660 are awesome. The Tuareg is better in almost every way. Just depends on what you want at the moment. I like trying new bikes

    Hello sir, with your permission, I will ask a few questions; First of all, doesn't driving at 60 km/h in 6th gear on asphalt damage the motorcycle?
    I bought the same motorcycle a few days ago. If you still have this motorcycle, could you please give me information about its maintenance processes and whether it has chronic problems.
    Finally, what accessories do you consider very important? What kind of accessories would you recommend for the safety of the motorcycle? I thank you in advance for your answers.

    So I have been considering a new bike between the *90R, Norden 901 Expedition, the Tuareg and the Desert X. Curios how you compare the Tuareg to the Norden you had?

    • @advhour226
      @advhour226  Год назад +2

      If I had to do it again, I would have just got the Tuareg. Only advantage the Norden has is a quicker motor. But it felt like it was jerky at low rpm’s, so Tuareg is just so smooth and nimble, handles incredibly well on road and doesn’t lack on suspension or anything off pavement. It’s easier to throw around and feels lighter than the Norden/890. The whole saddlebag fuel tank concept in theory should lower the center of gravity for the 890 platform and it does, but it feels heavier than the Tuareg. I also like that the Tuareg comes standard with total adjustability on traction, ABS, engine breaking etc whereas you have to buy that and cruise control on the 890/Norden.
      Ducati is beautiful. Is very nice to ride but I just wasn’t convinced it was worth the price. The seat also felt cheap and moved a bit which just left a bad impression.
      Haven’t looked at any other bike since I got the Tuareg.

      @@advhour226 Ok, great to know. I already own a Husky 701 for more extreme stuff but I also own a 2021 BMW R1250GS. I bought the GS as more of a touring bike that can handle some light off road but I have no interest in pushing the limits on an almost 600lb bike. Also, the shifting on my BMW is horrific, so much so I don't enjoy riding it. What I am looking for is a middle weight ADV but it has to do well on the freeway for big miles, how does the Tuareg do munching miles? Does it have backlit controls? Much appreciated!

    • @advhour226

      @@chrisvantassel8867 no backlit controls which is a bit a bit annoying, but the buttons are pretty intuitive so I don’t think they’re needed. The windscreen is pretty decent but many people put a visor on
