Good content. I have the 900 Rally Pro and a 2024 Tuareg. The power of the Triumph is noticeably more and if I take long road trips it will be the Triumph. When I think about off road there is no second thoughts, the Tuareg will always take me places I don't feel comfortable with on the Triumph. The Tuareg is more fun on the service roads and the quick shifter always puts a smile on my face. I started to get a KLR until I rode the Tuareg, so much more power, great electronics package and cruise control works great. Keep up the content, will continue to follow your channel.

My thoughts on KLR vs T660 after 6 years on my KLR and two days on my T660
    1) T660 immediately feels lighter
    2) At slow speeds, like 3mph, T660 handles far far superior. It just is so easy to balance compared to KLR
    3) T660 just feels "sophisticated". Buttery clutch, buttery throttle, tight, smooth.........like Italian ******y
    4) Power is no comparison. KLR struggles to pass at 65. T660 just blows to 100 like nothing
    5) Ride modes are kind of difficult to really dial in but I'm not that smart and its my first bike with that sort of thing
    6) My KLR suspension was all custom build by Cogent Dynamics and feels noticeably better than the T660, I need to start working on getting T660 set up properly. I dont like the fork dive and sort of soft front end.
    7) That said, Front end of T660 does track way better than KLR at speed
    8) Obviously T660 much less vibration
    9) T660 is 100 worth the money. KLR is a great bike. But if you can afford it, get a T660. Its worth it

Thanks for your comments on my question. I did end up getting the tiger 900 RP. But I do still look back longingly at the tuareg and wonder if I made the right decision. I guess I am looking for that unicorn bike. Where I live I have to ride very far on asphalt. But when I get to the off road I push it pretty hard. My pillion wasnt complaining about the KLR we have, but once she got a taste of the tiger, she enjoys the ride much more.
The tiger is a premium bike with a premium price, it's a huge leap from a Klr650. Tuareg would have been a big step, but not a leap.
Tuareg expands on the KLR.better on road, better off road. The tiger is nearly as good on the off road, but it amazing on the asphalt.
Just recently found your channel. Love it. You are probably the only youtuber that mentioned the tuareg and tiger in the same sentence.

This channel is the best I've seen for this type of content. There are so many trash talkers on youtube, you know what your talking about, excellent! I have just bought a Tuareg...without having driven one, crazy, maybe. But I have ridden the closest competitors from Honda, Suzuki and Yamaha. I liked the Suzuki V-strom 800 quite well but am convinced that the Aprilia will give me a lot of quality time. It's winter here and a lot of snow and I bought a Tuareg at an attractive price. (109900 sek or 15900 aud) I wonder what it costs in Australia 🤔. Well, thanks for all the valuable videos you put energy into. 🙏

Love the color of your bike. Test rode one when they first come out on the Sunshine Coast, nice to ride but not as good as the Africa Twin ,in order for me to jump ship ! Did read an overseas review that the Aprilia Touareg can develop minor engine oil leaks and oil consumption very early after purchase. Have you found this to be accurate in your case? thanks and enjoy your reviews.

Hay mate , I have two many bikes and selling 3 of them ( strongly considering the Aprilla 660 )
    For the following :
    1. To do my ADV riding
    2. For my road riding
( as I have a 900 road bike & 2 off road bikes a SWM RS 650 - sold getting picked up on the 10th and will advise my road bike soon . My other off road bike XT660 will sell after I MAYBE 🤔 get the Aprilla. I live in the Albury/ Wodonga area and our Honda dealer also sells , Aprilla , Moto Guzzi, Indian etc . I have test ridden the 660 and enjoy it .
    I’m 55 so speed isn’t a big factor
I’m short and can actually touch the ground with both feet ( not flat footed )
    I would lower the seat
I love that it have cruise control- has I have a crap 💩 wrist from one of my many crashes 😂😂😂.
Have you looked into a second set of rims ( one set for the road riding and other off road . My mate does thus with his 701 . So my other concern is long term reliability and dealer support when I’m away from local area . I hear it’s hard to get parts ?

    • @onthebackwheel

Looks like you can solve your multiple bike issue by getting the Aprilia. I've owned a couple of Aprilias in the past and they've been rock solid. This one? Yeah no idea yet tbh, but I believe the gremlins have been ironed out (this one has been great). I've got no interest in 2 sets of rims tbh. Pretty big cost outlay and I find a decent set of adventure tyres stick well on the road, always a compromise somewhere though. If you're happy to have 2 sets and change it is the way to go though

Good vid mate. I rode this recently. I agreed with you exactly about the suspension and what was needed to improve it. I rode it on the road and some gravel but felt the same suspension adjustments would yield dividends. I didn't like any of the throttle 'maps', but I loathe RBW. I did like how generally easy the menus were to navigate (But I only had it for an hr, so didn't have time for a deep dive). I annoyed a lot of people with my review because I was so distracted by how much I disliked the RBW and how bad the ABS was on the road. If I ever ride another one, I'll try to spend time on what the positives were - suspension and centralised mass. I was considering riding the Norden 901, but if they've seen my vid on the Tuareg, I'm not sure I'll get a ride. Also, I'm wondering if there is any point as I understand that you can't turn off any of the 'farkles' on the 901... I could be wrong.

    • @onthebackwheel
      @onthebackwheel  Год назад

I imagine the Norden will drive you mad if the Tuareg annoyed you. One thing you can do on the Tuareg is just put in on the list aggressive map and leave it

@@onthebackwheel Cheers, I found it best in Off-road and Individual, they seemed the most responsive. Explore was pretty horrible - ok on gravel if you wanted to ride with your brain out. I think compared to my old Africa Twin it was just not powerful enough or responsive enough. I find RBW makes everything feel about 30% less powerful than it is. The thing I really hate is riding a bike and feeling like you have very little control - kind of like you are riding using a Playstation controller. But, I think you are right, the Norden will be a bit crap. It is a shame, nice seat, good looks, ok power, low COG. If only it came without all the nonsense. Cheers Cam from NZ. Loving your content.
