- Ardnahoe. The first new single malt release from Islay in nearly two decades.
A passion project from Hunter Laing independent bottlers and blenders. A distillery boasts the longest line arms in Scotch whisky, wormtub condensers, and when it comes to this release, a gateway for more people to get into Islay whisky
Matured in a combination of bourbon and sherry casks, 5 year old spirit, 35ppm, bottled at 50% ABV witn no chill filtering or added colour, this is one of the most balanced styles of classic Islay whisky that you'll come across. I've no idea how many were released. If that's what you care about, then you're probably not going to open it.
A truly delicious, fresh, smoky, sweet addition to the legendary west coast stalwarts on Islay.

I agree with you. This is the best new release I have tasted so far.
Between this and most Ardnamurchan, I'm in heaven.
Excellent review and I am looking forward to seeing it in Italy 🇮🇹. Kind regards, S.
Hope it gets to you soon!
Fabulous new release! I can't wait until I can access it in Canada! Reasonably priced and I am always excited for a peated Islay scotch whisky!! The Lagavulin 11 Offerman 4th edition is sure worth a try! Delicious!! I bought a case! Great video! Cheers! 🙂
The excitement is truly worth it. Is that the rum cask release? I was tempted to split a bottle with a friend.
I,ve heard 70.000 to be realeased.
Not sold in Scandinavia yet.
Im all ears.
Nice to see an independent bottler starting to make the juice themself.
These numbers are all still unverified by Hunter Laing. The UK first week launch was only around 5,500 bottles. But we'll see.
Its such nice liquid and thats the most important part.
Great review, thank you Phil. Cheers
My pleasure! Thank you!
Now that Ardnahoe is a producing distillery, I have to come and visit it as I did when Kilchoman did. I miss Islay!
Same here! Got to do them all!
Cheers my friend. Great review 🙏🏻
Thanks, Rob!
Nice one Phil, I was waiting for this! I also managed to get my hands on this one but due to me being out of UK right now I have to wait until June to try it. Initial reports are all positive so I'm very excited about it. Cheers 🥃
Overwhelmingly positive! It's been such a tasty and appreciated bottle so far. June isn't far away.
Thanks for the review! I’ve been excited for this release since I heard they were using worm tubs…..now I have to wait for it to make its way to the US.
It's worth the wait, it is a delightful, layered Islay.
Good timely review, cheers Phil😊 They have all they need to become famous in the future.
Can't wait to taste those future releases!
Your recommendation was spot on. I went and bought a bottle unfortunately I didn’t have enough money to buy two that’s life.
There's enough of it to get another one at some point. Enjoy the one you got!
Cheers for the excellent review - really looking forward to trying it now. I ordered direct from the distillery so I might even have it by this time next year…..
That 2/3 week wait is pretty crazy, but it'll be worth it when it arrives.
Thanks for the review, I got a bottle last week so it's good to get someone else's view on their experience with it. Personally I am really impressed and will look forward to seeing what the distillery releases next.
Same! Can't wait to see what Feis Ile releases they bring out.
Finally, first video I see of this new distillery. I wonder if some of their Scarabus had a younger version of their official single malt. Great video, thanks 👋
That's an interesting question... I know their new Park Circus is essentially ancient grain with Port Ellen and Springbank. But I'll ask and see! Thank you!
I liked this as soon as i opened it - thankfully i got 2 bottles!
Same here! One for now and one for the future. When they've got older whiskies out I'll be interested to try the two side by side.
Hi Phil ! Greetings from Georgia, Tbilisi ) I am member of the Whisky Club , Several members buy this whisky and are hosting a tasting . They paid about 85 euros for one bottle .Slainte !
Love a whisky club! That price is good, never over pay if you can help it. Enjoy them!
Hi Phil, thanks for this exellent review. Maybe I will get a bootle from the UK direct (my nephew is in London for holidays) or I will get a bottle from my local shop here in Germany. I saw the Ardnahoe Distillery under construction while being on Islay in autumn 2017. Cheers my friend
Seeing it under construction and now getting to taste the liquid is such a good story from your perspective! It'll be in Europe soon enough. Either way, you'll enjoy it!
I emailed them about bottle amounts released and got this reply, Thanks for your e-mail
At this point, the number of bottles has not been divulged
Best wishes

Hmmmm. I wonder where this 70,000 number has been sourced from then.
80,000 bottle world wide release
Is that the new final fingure?
I've got serious "limited inaugural release" fatigue especially when distilleries are asking $140, so I've opted out. Nothing against Ardnahoe but as they say on Shark Tank........I'm Out!
I don't blame you for this, especially after the last 4 years of the whisky market. Hopefully it'll appear in a bar or a friend buys one and you can try it. But this point of view is more than reasonable.
