I once tried the original 105 neat, it was still drinkable.

Indeed, it does taste intense, say 46-48%, but one would never guess over 60%.

Still none can compare to the great 185.

I’d love to enjoy the flavor of various whiskeys however I am unable to get past the taste of the alcohol. Tried to sip it - no go.

You get used to it, try adding a teaspoon or two of water.

I only started drinking whiskey about 3 months ago. Take small sips and give it a week or so of a glass a day, you will get past the alcohol and be able to taste the flavor behind it.

From where you are, it will take a good 1 to 2 years before your palette gets used to the alcohol.
Start with 25% whisky 75% water. And every month reduce the percentage of water. In a year or 2 you'll absolutely refuse to add water and you'll be like us!
Good luck on your journey of discovery. It's very rewarding.
