As someone who has played the original I bought this game to kind of relive those stupidity young boy moments And well with it being censored because it is toned down it's not fully removed its toned down and while I don't mind and I personally love the repot mode after realizing what it was I still wanted the exact original not something that's slightly watered down
This game was my introduction to RUclips back in 2012, got my first phone then and watched radbrad make a playthrough on it. Its been over 10 years now and I still love this game, glad it got another chance in the spotlight
I don't know why they couldn't just bring back the original visuals completely in the original mode? In this way many people who have low tier and mid tier PCs could also play this remaster smoothly. We got this kinda treatment in the tomb raider remastered. All we had to do was just press a button to toggle the original visuals.
Simple thing is that its an Unreal Engine 3 game, and bringing that over to UE5 with the same intact lighting is impossible. Instead they just have to "recreate" the visuals the best they can in UE5, which obviously they did a pretty poor job of
He’s such a fraud. He was up in arms that someone wanted to have more interiors in the new GTA. Started saying how it’s sick and demented anyone would want to have those due to killing NPCs. Of course when someone tells him that’s the point of the game, he literally says “uh yeah but I kill cops so it’s cool”. Such a tool.
Something worth noting (which I'm surprised wasn't brought up here) is that they changed Juliet's walking and attack speed for this remaster. Juliet's default running speed noticeably faster in the remaster, but the animation hasn't been updated so it looks like she's sliding around. They also made her chainsaw swings WAY slower than the original, which might make the combat feel more sluggish than the original. Admittedly I haven't compared this for myself yet, but it seems like a huge difference in the comparison videos I've seen.
@@CasepbX you are supposed to use the X and A attack combos +throw to stagger the group before finishing them off with the chainsaw. its supposed to be slow and punishable bcs thats how the risk/reward works. The reviewer assumes that people interested in this remaster did have the option to choose what version you want. That's why people where upset about censoring. That's why the Devs took to twitter/x to clarify. Capcom doesn't give you the option, many don't.
Right!? This is why people were originally complaining. Love dudes videos but he needs to do more research before talking shit on how people feel. He came off as idiotic and tone deaf.
I hope the remaster will find a way on to gog. I really like that they remaster a "non super selling and already hyper well known" title, but more of an obscure one who you easily can have missed back in the day.
Given that the developer of this remaster has released another game (Relayer Advanced) on GOG, I would appreciate that too. With that said, at least the Steam version is drm-free. See the game's PC Gaming Wiki page for details.
The game that has removed songs, game breaking bugs, graphical issues and no options menu isn't a bad port? I can't blame someone for saying play the original tbh.
@@dollmaker6599 The loss of the OG's soundtrack was a literal game breaker for me, because they all fit the game's eccentric absurdity so perfectly. At the same time, that's the problem with making most of your soundtrack licensed songs. If the "remake" situation arises, you have a tough choice to make, and composing your own soundtrack is ultimately the better choice. In the case of Lollipop Chainsaw though, they honestly should have just ported the original version instead of trying to give it a botched photoshop treatment. Taking away the cell shading and going for realism goes against the game's entire aesthetic. It's like trying to do the same to Borderlands-...oh wait, they actually tried that with a horrifically bad feature film.
I'm currently playing the original version on RPCS3 at 4K 165fps and it looks SO much better. Colors, lighting, cell shading and ALL THE LICENSED MUSIC intact. I don't think the new shading and color palette did this game any favors, all they needed to do was port the original and upscale some of the textures. RPCS3 gives you the option to unlock FPS, remove the awful grain filter and bloom lighting. It looks razor sharp and I was very surprised at how high res the original textures actually are at 4K.
It's a mix between a graphics remake and a remaster at 4k 60fps. They did a good job. And it's way cheaper than getting it physical on PS3/360 these days. I've really enjoyed the improvements to how many medals you now get to buy stuff on your first playthrough, combat improvements, mini game improvements and it's 4k 60fps now which makes things look and feel better.
"IGN refused to review it" is a lie with no source spread by Twitter grifters, they offer no actual proof for this claim & you latching onto it as the truth just proves you're a dogbrained NPC happy to be lied to as long as it owns the libs
It's only $40, that's cheaper than the original release 12 years ago by $20. So I don't really see the issue with the remaster for new and old audiences. The only legitimate downside so far is the lack of graphic options, which they're adding, and original soundtrack, which is out of their hands thanks to copyright regulations.
Batman: the animated series 1995 created Harley the comics then adopted the character you cretin... The new Harley is just the old Harley with an not 1995 costume.
what is wrong with modern engines having the worst lighting ever??? Is it just the default lighting that people are too scared to fiddle with, because oh my god every remake like this is 10000% brighter, it's DISGUSTING. Genuinely why is it like this?
like are unreal 4 and 5 just bad engines? Like, it HAS to be harder to make a game on it compared to 3. The original game looked better, ran better, played better, and was probably made in a very comparable development time. I just have to assume that modern unreal is dogshit. I have to!
I agree with you man and unfortunately it's the devs fault I was playing some UE4 games recently and it looks great lighting and the highlights on things looked accurate and not overbearing. Like you said I think they are too afraid (or dumb) to tinker with it.

Imagine asking, in the year of Our Lord 2024, if a remaster of an old game is DEI free? Not one modern remaster or remake has ever censored anything for the sake of 'political correctness' or any another reason. Why the heck would someone ever dare to ask such a weird, out of left-field question?! Those Steam forum users are clearly mentally unhinged if they think something like that would ever happen these days.
It sucks that it’s not a perfect port, but I’m just happy to see games like this and Shadows of the Damned get re-released! Just makes it way easier to be able to experience these games again without owning the original consoles they came out on.
DUDE, this is great news. I remember hearing about this game way back around the time it released. Sadly I'm not a console peasant so I had no way to play it. I'll definitely give it a spin now (if it can run decently on a 1050ti)! I just hope I won't encounter any of the issues you mentioned. We really need more games like this. I just love these types of games where they intentionally push stuff that nutjobs find "offensive", like barley legal almost naked girls, or some stuff about terrorists, drugs, etc. You're getting angry at that guy who asked about DEI, but look around and you'll see his question isn't that weird at all - there's a bunch of remakes that ruin and censor games.
What do you mean "barely anyone remembers". I remember filling my pc with viruses just because i was looking for a pc version...only to realize that it was never released on every platform. That stuff was traumatizing. They asked for 40$? They can take my whole wallet.

Look at it this way man, when Stellar Blade was coming out, the devs flat out promised before release that the game would be uncensored, but then completely back peddled on that promise and censored the game with a day one patch making it so the only way to play the game completely uncensored is to have a physical PS5 hard copy and to physically cut off your PS5 console from the digital day 1 patch in order to keep the game uncensored. So is it really so hard to see why gamers are so on edge about potential censorship when it's already a proven fact that the devs can and will promise no censorship only to suddenly drop a digital patch that comes with full censorship? Hell look at the Tomb Raider remastered collection where the devs censored some stuff with 1 update but then ended up restoring it again in another update due to backlash from players. It's reached a point where even owning a physical hard copy for preservation's sake isn't safe from censorship. So yeah it's completely understandable why gamers are waiting until the anti-censorship bloodhounds are signing off on current re-releases before making a purchase even if the devs promise that there is no censorship as the Stellar Blade devs already betrayed that kind of trust. The Lollipop Chainsaw devs have already stated that there are gonna be more patches to fix the current issues of the game, so why shouldn't gamers be on edge that those future patches could potentially censor things when it's already been proven that it can happen under their noses? I wish we didn't have to worry about this stuff, but the cold hard fact is we do.
The lack of the cel shaded look of the original and the removed copyrighted songs are my biggest complain about this, especially the soundtrack, it's the biggest letdown. However, I still want to support this game, as the remaster is not bad, I'm happy it exists as it allows people to enjoy it, and I appreciate not having any censorship at all (Looking at you Dead Rising). Still a bummer that physical editions are hard to get, but eh.
You do realize that this game would’ve been censored to hell if DEI was involved? That guy just doesn’t want an inferior product because of crybaby journalists.
Lil bros thinking that just cuz their fav platform told them gamers are oppressed that politicians and their mothers will take gaming journalism seriously are the funniest breeds ngl
I think it's completely understandable for people to ask if a game that's undergone a modern remaster, has been given the dei treatment. It looks like the cell shading style from the original has been removed and also the lighting makes the new one washed out.
I’m so happy it’s back and I can play it on my modern systems now, but it does suck that they got rid of a lot of classic tunes but still I’m happy the game back and if I didn’t see your video, I didn’t even know it was out
Let's be fair here, asking if it's DEI free is a legitimate question. We've seen enough censored remakes already, and multiple cases where it happened post-release.
the only problem to me is the price tags of 45$ , in Asia it is flat out 50$ for some reason , after Space Marine 2 am wait this game on sale at least around 30$
Good to know that they've kept everything as is, in the remaster. Although from what you've shown, it looks like the "RePop" mode, looked more like the "Hopefully this won't get demonitised on RUclips, if you show any footage" mode. Sad that some of the music hasn't come back, but then again, licencing changes and inflation. But then again seeing how IGN won't touch it, because the female protagonist is gorgeous and not wearing much, it's obviously worth playing.
They remastered it in ue5 and then added the useless lighting it has, increased the size and requirements, bare bones pc port, a dude with 4090 was having issues with it, its a game from 2012, you expect it to work without issues and then this shit happens
If freaking Lollipop can get a remastered, then ANYTHING is possible! Give me Metal Gear Solid 4, Metal Gear Rising and Splatterhouse (2010) and I'll be PERFECT!
I refunded this because of the lack of graphics options. I wanted to play this on the Steam Deck, but it runs like dogwater without being able to tweak it.
He spends more time bitching about the people who don't like censorship than the censorship itself. I think Gman's coming down with a case of the brain-rot.
Yeah! Trying to understand what the director was saying over the years to even know if it would be uncensored was a challenge. And it's not fully uncensored even. They censored some naughty words.
That part was not it. Seriously, that shit was not normal, dude was tweaking like a motherfucker over gamers wondering if there's censorship like what stellar blade tried to pull.
bro all modern games have dei inserts, they will change the lore of an entire genre just to add in the designers personal political views, which in the past have been interesting quirks in our games, but now adays its not cool or quirky. Diablo 2 resurrected made all the young females old and manly.... just saying... maybe ppl are concerned for a reason rofl
The game is solid 10/10. Juliet is stunning and gameplay is is awesome. Just play it and its the funniest and most enjoyable comfy game out there this year. The devs already stated that patches will fix the bounce physics & missing voice lines along with performance. So no worries. The review is fantastic & WE NEED more fun games like this who don't chase metacritic scores but deliver what the creative minds of developers actually want.
I think this shoulda been priced closer to $25 like the upcoming shadows of the damned remaster. with all the crossover outfits and too many great songs being cut due to licensing and nothing really being added to the game but a face lift and an optional censored mode, the $45 price is just a bit much. I'll pick it up when it goes on sale.
With the current state of devs and the the industry you can't really blame people for asking about DEI or if the games been censored etc. because most of the time the answer is yes. Even with a game like this. Still I think it's encouraging that people are opening their eyes and actually asking questions. Hopefully we get more informed consumers, that make better decisions, which will lead to better products and more transparency.

We got this kinda treatment in the tomb raider remastered. All we had to do was just press a button to toggle the original visuals.
Agreed. What a bunch of tools.
Simple thing is that its an Unreal Engine 3 game, and bringing that over to UE5 with the same intact lighting is impossible. Instead they just have to "recreate" the visuals the best they can in UE5, which obviously they did a pretty poor job of

Her chainsaw attacks were super slow in the original game as well, and they also had zero flow.

Gamers like to spread rumors about games even before playing, I swear people are insane
Gamers are the most entitled people, ever. It's only gotten worse in the past couple of years.

All I ever wanted was to play Lollipop Chainsaw on my pc in all of its glory and they just had to mess it up.
The original was literally ported over in the remake.
@@JustSomeWeirdo Yeah, and went through the downgrader 3000 on its way there as well
Does the original mode contain all the missing music? No? Then it's not literally the same.
What ya mean messed it up? I've been loving it.

I love this game. There are some experiences that a 7/10 can give that a 10/10 cant. Like its not perfect but there's nothing quite like Lollipop Chainsaw. I honestly value these games so much! Most of my favorite games are 7/10s.
I remember playing this when I was 12, finished it in one night and returning it to GameStop the next day. I do have fond memories of it though.
With what I've seen of the remaster so far, my only gripe so far is the cel shading is removed for some crappy modern look
9:02 "is it DEI free" = Has the game been censored? Did the devs vandalize dialogue for "muh modern audience" like they did with the vietnam vet psyco's anti communist dialogue in the dead rising remaster. Have character models been changed? Like race-swapping the asian cannibal into a caucasian in the Dead rising remaster. Or
These are entirely fair questions to ask and legitimate reasons not to pic up a game. Because why give money to people who push their ideology at the expense of the products quality.
The areas where you showed the weird balloon issues are exactly what happened on RPCS3 for me, which is interesting
Nice review, but can anyone please tell me if the game is DEI and woke free? I don't think Gman touched on this subject like at all.
What does that mean?
Real question is… did they bring back the “Ash” skin? That’s the real important question that we should be asking.
