- Video of how to set up and clean up a Graco TrueCoat 360 VSP. Made this video because it's a lot easier to understand if you just bought it or are thinking about buying it vs. reading the manual. There are some other good videos of guys using the machine to paint so be sure to check those out before you go all in.
I like this machine a lot but it had a learning curve. It was totally worth it when I laid a coat of paint on the walls of my kitchen in 30 minutes in between work conference calls.

I've used mine for hard to reach / needs to be a really good finish stuff. It's paid for itself painting inside cabinets, around shelves, spraying furniture, and doors. This thing is amazing I should have bought it years ago. I've used it 3-4 times in the two weeks I've had it and put over 2.5 gallons through it so far. I love it with Valspar cabinet and furniture paint. It leaves an excellent finish ten times faster than a brush.
Yeah, it is so much more professional than brushwork on things that need a fine finish.

Do I need to add pump armor every day or just when I am storing it for more than a few days? I just got the same model and I am half way done painting the outside of a house. Works very well.
I do pump armor at the end of every cleaning process (even for overnight). That way you don't have the metal internals exposed to water/air combinations ever.
I have nothing but problems with mine and been a painter, using big airless systems and doesn't matter how well clean it, it doesn't work next time I try to use it. What am I doing wrong? And by the way I would never attempt a thousand square feet job without breaking out my full size airless
Great Video! The strange thing is I have the same toothbrush in my dop kit and the exact same scrub brush in one of my work buckets. I also just bought the 360 VSP which is why I am watching this video. I am about to paint 8 sets of shutters with it Monday 06-04-2019. I wanted to know how to use and clean it before I put it into action. I have used a lot of spray guns but only the type that you use with an air compressor. Basically auto paint sprayers. Do you think I should practice first this weekend before I use this one?
I wouldn’t put yourself through unnecessary cleanups, just practice on the day of the painting so you get a sense of how fast the paint lays down.
Love this sprayer the other day it started coming out from the black PC behind the guard I have no idea why

Nicholas Hill I had the same problem it’s leaking from where the tip goes into the slot, idk how to tighten it, I bought a new tip but still leaks
I have same issue. Only used it twice and now leaks like crazy from tip. Wasted alot of paint and made a mess. Any fix or return it?
Great video. Can you store paint in this overnight? My typical jobs are cabinets, so I do 1st coat on one side of door, then 6 hrs later I do 2nd coat other side of door, then the next day I repeat for the 2nd coat. Can I leave paint in there or will I have to clean it out 4 times?
I would not recommend leaving it alone more than 10 minutes, maybe 30 minutes if the spray tip area is wrapped with a wet paper towel. The spray tip area is the issue - if this area dries it will either get clogged or otherwise impact the smooth spraying abilities of the tool. You might be able to get away with cleaning just the spray tip area between 6 hour interval sprays if there is no other mess, but at your own risk (let everyone know how it works!).
@sondroyo I actually just left it overnight last night with spray tip turned in the closed position and everything under pressure and the gun in a plastic bag.
Sprayed fine today.
I just know I'll have to do a thorough job of cleaning with mineral spirits when I'm done with this color.
Not sure how long this method will work longterm but with the type of work I do it isn't practical for me to use if I cannot do this. Will report back if things ever give out prematurely
Thanks for sharing. As long as it sprays evenly, you might be good to go. Serious clogs clear out pretty easily with hot water.

How many gallons have you put through this?
Probably around 20 gal. I literally made this video because nobody was actually showing a used machine!
sondroyo I’ve been looking at the variety of Graco sprayer and everybody talks about the truecoat being “junk” and it’ll break if you use it too much...
I have logical questions when I was told it was good for “25 gal/year”.
What’s it matter if I put 25 gallons in a month or 10 years through it!? Lol.
I don’t paint more than a few projects a year (doubt I even purchased 25 gallons in the last 2) but would like it for a better finish on baseboards, trim and doors, opposed to brush and rolling.
What else have you used it for?
I think Wagner brand at Home Cheapo is the real junk. Nobody I talked to was happy with Wagner.
But looking at Graco's warranty, the product is probably designed for under 100 gal lifetime throughput with no repairs. It looks repairable though (allen wrench disassembly). I think it is stainless steel inside. The warranty specifically says personal use only, which totally means under 25 gal/year average. Anything more and it would be the wrong tool for the job.
It will be a much nicer finish on all the detail work. I did most of my interior with it, including doors and frames. You just have to be prepared to tape/paper/plastic off everything and make sure there is no air flow that will bring paint particles where you don't want them. 30 min spraying = 90 minutes taping, but looks better and ultimately takes less time.

How long does the paint bag last until you need to refill?
You can probably get 50-100 square feet of paint laid down before needing to refill. It really depends on the spray speed you set.
Thank you. I have that model. The first spray was great. Then the second spray I couldn't get it to prime. I cant figure out what I did wrong. Any suggestions
Start by turning it upside down so you eliminate obvious air leakage issues. If it still won't prime, you might have a blockage.
@@sondroyo yeah I did that but it takes forever to prime. Then when I tip it back up it's full of air again. Iv only had it a few months. R the o rings bad already?
@@chadworley8009 Yeah, sounds like air is getting in somewhere else. If you didn't have pump armor between sprays maybe there was corrosion.
@@sondroyook. I do have that so I will from now on. I did end up taking it back and got a new one.
Those Graco guns are just frustrating, and most of the time, it takes longer to get it to work. I'm just getting a good Corona brush and a nice roller.😂
Really only worthwhile for >1000 sq ft. The finish quality is better than brushwork though.
Can u replace pump when it's goes they only good for to 100 litres ??
I hope you get more than 25 gallons out of it...that sounds like a warranty claim. Or head over to Repair Clinic, it's user serviceable and fixing tools is fun.
I have one of these paint guns. I used it over a year ago. I pulled it out today to use it. I couldn’t get any paint to spray. I’m guessing I didn’t get it totally clean after the first usage. Any ideas for how to get it spraying again?
Just out of warranty, right? I'm thinking of getting mine out again soon, we will see how it does. I get the impression it is user serviceable because there's a full part breakdown in the user manual and the Graco website has pressure relief instructions. Just don't clean it with anything that reacts with aluminum, maybe get some pipe cleaners. The replacement parts at Repair Clinic are kind of pricey.

Is there an alternative to the pump armor?
You would probably void your warranty using anything else. The MSDS says it is 40-60% ethylene glycol (antifreeze main ingredient),
All that old dried paint all over the sprayer sets off my OCD. Mineral spirits and warm water till it's completely clean, I could never let my 360 vsp get to that point lol.
Great video though regardless, love the VSP model and use it regularly.
Good advice on cleaning the VSP. I treat some of my equipment that way. But, the VSP purchase was entirely about saving as much time as possible so it gets more utilitarian treatment.

All that paint on the gun would drive me crazy. Small wire brush will take care of that. 👍
Mine sucked. It stopped spraying after 5 min
yeah just spray it at the floor to make sure it's working...then step in the wet pain. maybe spray it into a bucket?
Spraying a plastic sheet is my go-to because you can assess the spray pattern. Floor was the only option in this case.

The thumbnail shows you in screwing the pump itself. That's why I came here. You didn't even talk about it.
The thumbnail is of the little mesh strainer which is between the plastic bag of paint and the sprayer.
