    Demo footage is really gorgeous, and seeing the ship go around these incredible islands and clouds does justice to my many memories of Skies of Arcadia. Something I'm curious to know is how are things developing related to a story for Horizons? Has that already been drafted, yet to be created, somewhere in the middle?

      We've got a good chunk of it done. And as we're developing the music, visuals, mechanics, etc. We're pairing the elements and making sure they still "feel right" (for lack of better words) when progressing through the game. Just in case there are any changes that need to take place.
      There's a specific way I want to introduce the story to the world. And as soon as I get all my game assets collected and built right, you all will be seeing that story soon after :-D
      I do plan on having our scenario writer cut a video here in the next month or two. If anything, just to introduce him.

    I really hope the different ships that we will fly will feel different and unique. I always wanted to feel the way the Delphinus moved and responded compared to the Jack or Guilders ship.

      Sometimes I wonder what it would've been like to fly some of the Valuan Generals' ships.

    The new ship flapping animation reminds me of a fish swimming in water. Which i think really works.

    I’m really looking forward to having a demo. I really want to fly in these skies, through the clouds and between the islands
    A question about the ship-to-ship battles. Will they be a little more dynaque than on SoA? No because it is one of the small reproaches to SoA, the fights ship against ship were long and boring...
    I continue to follow the development
    PS: in a future SoA video on my channel I will talk about the project, I will put the links (discord, youtube, tiktok and the site ) as a video description

      DEFINITELY more dynamic. Think about how Unicorn Overlord evolved the battles and complexity for strategy from what the Ogre Battle games brought to the table. While still remaining an approachable system for new comers.
      I cannot wait to see your new video! And thank you for considering us for a mention.

    You need a pop filter for your audio. You were hitting some real hard pops throughout the video. Your log would benefit from doing multiple takes of the audio, you had a few mistakes that felt like they should've been edited out. For the content, I wish you had showed more footage throughout the video. I was excited to see some clips of the game and concept art, but I only got a sky boat. I liked the skyboat but is that all your game is about? I'm a huge JRPG fan and this didn't hype me up with what was here. I also kind of wish your recording space had a bit of flair that was game related or really anything. For a JRPG lover and to call out skies of arcadia and dragon quest, I'd have expected to see some kind of merch somewhere behind you. Last thing is that the voice work was a bit awkward at times, I think this is what I mentioned earlier, do more than one take and then use the best one. I hope that's helpful feedback and can't wait to see the finished game!

      Oh no offense at all, brother. And I always appreciate detailed constructive critiques. So, a couple of things. What you're seeing in the videos so far is about where we're at as far as tangible assets ready for public viewing. But I am being fully upfront with everyone here and on X and Patreon that we are in the early stages of development. I'm working on getting the art, concepts, and 3D modeling primarily. By the end of August - I'm hoping to show off our next ship ;-) It's slow because I'm largely self funding with hobby levels of monthly allowances haha. Patreon does help a bit, but at the moment it doesn't allow for things to be done in tandem. I'm a dad and husband first LOL so my fun money is being poured into the aspects of the development that I do not have any talent in. As far as the recording space - that will be changing in November. What you're seeing there is a friends house that I have about an hour to get my takes in before I have to pick up the kiddo from band practices LOL #dadlife... I agree on the pop filter - and you'll see that in the next video (got one ordered ;-) ) My speaking ability is a constant thing I try to improve on. I'll see what I can't do to be a bit more clear for the next update - that's fair feedback for sure.

      @@HorizonsOfAchaea #dadlife for sure. I'm in the same boat and I wouldn't change it for the world. I'm going to keep following to see where your game goes. There's a lack of good games available nowadays so indie stuff is the most promising lately.

      I checked out your channel - you've got an amazing voice. Ever consider traditional reviews?

      @@HorizonsOfAchaea Yeah, I just havent found anything that I wanted to review just yet. I'm often very late to the game when it comes to new products since I'm incredibly cheap and risk averse, but maybe Ill dip my toes into that space a bit. Thank for the compliment! I've done some voice acting work for Skyrim modders back in the day.

    What will the non ship combat look like?

    • @HorizonsOfAchaea
      @HorizonsOfAchaea  18 дней назад

      Turn based at a high level. Typical of your standard JRPG. May change down the road but with ship battles being our primary focus, I'm keeping that straightforward for the moment in order to not go too wild with our scope.

    • @Robiertateistearonamientó

      Turn based combat isn’t normally my thing but giant flying ships are cool I used to draw airships similar to the one you showed off a lot. I’m definitely interested to see wherever this game is going. Can I ask what games are you mainly drawing inspiration from?

    • @HorizonsOfAchaea
      @HorizonsOfAchaea  17 дней назад

      In my marketing so far, I've really hammered home that we've been inspired by Skies of Arcadia and Dragon Quest. So, I'll try a different sort of answer for this one lol. When I played Unicorn Overlord, I was really struck by how well they "evolved" the formula of the Ogre Battle series and packaged into a stand alone game. The didn't just uproot the 3x3 tile for units in SRPG turn based combat, but rather they added QoL features, refined balancing (to a degree), and added complexity that's optional for the players that want a challenge. Where, traditionally, JRPGs (or at least Skies and Dragon Quest) don't have higher difficulty curves. They are a linear story. Elements of it honor the past, elements of it progress it forward. And the scope feels right. Seeing that come to life and the passion poured into it really cemented in me that I want to give this a shot.
