Pretty slick. I am going to grab that source and modify it a bit to use with Alfred so I could trigger the backup manually with the same script features.
brilliant, it seems that i catch you just when i need to know how to accomplish a task and this video is clutch. i am just starting my DR journey and there is so much to absorbe that sometimes it seems overwhelming at times. i am considering a collaboration with my bmw motorrad group and i need to setup the collab feature in my studio version of DR. DO YOU HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS. i am a noob and this cloud sharing seems to be a very necssary addition to my toolbox. thanks you rock...👍
thas was quick :) I guess I will stay up late today! thanks for your awesome videos - always very precise and to the point. much appreciated!@@CreativeVideoTips
Thank you so much, this is a great video. Currently I am doing my backups with rsync with local drives attached to my laptop (even though I know I can do it also remotely). The point is that I work based in folders (as I was doing in the past with Premiere and FCPX), now in DaVinci I just add to the folder the export of the Timeline. Do you think I should change instead to a yearly database backups approach? Cheers!
You have a solid workflow. If you just have a single timeline in a project, the .drt or .drp exports at the end are good. The benefit to backing up your entire database is that it grabs all of your projects so they can be restored on another computer, all at once. The nice thing about the network database option shown here is that it actually allows this process to be automated. You can't really do that in the local or cloud project libraries.
@CreativeVideoTips What would be best practice if you have multiple databases to back up? We use one per client at our place. Should I offset the time for each backup or will the script just run one after another? Also, as always, great video Chadwick!
I would offset them. At my office we run 2 separate project server computers so they can each run at about the same time, but if they are on the same machine - give them time to finish. 10 minutes is enough time for pretty big databases. Also note - this should be done with resolve saved and closed on the workstations ideally. I set calendar events to shutdown everyone's resolve around midnight.
That is another option and a really good idea on local databases since you can't use the postgres backup. The pgdump function (which is what this does) is just a nice way to bundle it all in a single file to send to another cloud location and is simple to restore. This also does the re-indexing which will speed up the performance.

awesome, I've been lookign for such a solution for a while now. thanks a lot!
Good question. Not that I know of. So honestly this has had me up at weird hours to kick off the script. I would love if that was in a future version.

Very cool video. Could you please make a video on Jump Desktop Remote control. This is so cool to edit your home computer while on the go!

Again......Thank you for making this great content 💪👍
thanks for being here!
Thanks for this. Q: Why not use something like Carbon Copy Cloner? I've always found it robust and user-friendly.

Great video. Love automation
Thanks for watching!
Awesome as always sir 😁🙏🤘
thanks so much for continued support!
Hi. It seems the Project Server is no longer available for download on the page you are showing on the video. Do you have a link where to find it ?
Hi there. I promise it’s still there. You do need to scroll down a ways because it was last updated about 6-9 months ago.
thank you
