    Incredible that someone has taken the time to explain how the new app works and also gives us a lesson on codecs, explaining why Blackmagic included h.254/h.265 considering how poor they were in the past for editing.
    But best of all, it's the time you take to generate and correct the subtitles. The automatically generated ones are slow, out of sync, inaccurate and when you want to translate them into your language, everything gets worse...
    The corrected ones make life easier for non-native English speakers.
    Thanks for the tutorial, thanks for the channel and thanks for taking the time to explain everything you know!!!

    That was brilliant!
    I've been doing very similar stuff, isolating people from background with magic mask, blurring parts of the background and then applying the unmasked people over the top, but as someone who has never really got to grips with fusion (or had any training), I've been doing it all in the colour tab, and to say that I get fed up with frame stepping and adding new includes and excludes on the magic magic to fix glitches, would be an understatement!
    Thank you so much, I learnt lots...
    BTW, I'm curious about your flicking nodes onto the preview window, I thought pressing 1 or 2 was the shortcut for that (about the only fusion I know! lol!)

    You are absolutely right when you say that Magic Mask should not be used on log footage. If I use pre-graded clips, this can of course interfere with the color grading. Wouldn't it make more sense to simply integrate Fusion's own color corrector into the bitmap pipeline and thus save yourself the trouble of pre-processing the clips?

    • @CreativeVideoTips
      @CreativeVideoTips  6 месяцев назад +2

      Funny enough I had a longer version of this demo that shows how I sandwich footage between 2 aces nodes, but then it was even longer. If the footage is flat, I convert it with ACES transform (or cst) into linear, do all the fusion stuff, and then reverse it before rendering out to media out.

    • @jensgeumann7564
      @jensgeumann7564 6 месяцев назад

      @@CreativeVideoTips Yes, there are always things that you have to leave out. Ultimately, it also depends on the working conditions under which you work with Davinci Resolve. Small solo creators often want to jump back and forth freely between the pages, constantly design their workflows differently and are then always disappointed with Resolve when it is not completely flexible in certain workflows. (They suffer a lot with multicam audio editing.) Anyone who works with different departments is aware that there always has to be a certain status so that the other departments can continue to work with it. The fusion handles in your video are a good example of this. I really like the fact that more emphasis is now being placed on structured work with DVR, not just on individual techniques. I find channels like those of Chris Roberts or Joshua Kirk - along with yours - very useful.

    This is amazing! Finally found a talented creative that is so detailed! I hope someday there will be a tutorial that will teach you how to replace a section and morph the image to the moving shot. Example. A caravan has 2 models, one with a rear spoiler and another with no rear spoiler. How can I add the spoiler to the caravan (wide angle, parallax movement left to right, or wide angle slow punch in). 🙏 Keep up the good work! I'll definitely donate something once I get paid from these projects! God Bless you

    Man I really wish I found this last night when I encountered a problem. I used magic mask in the color page, and went back to the edit page to use the transform tools and mess with positions x and y and rotation of the mask, but every time I tried to keyframe the transform, I’d have to go back into color page and track the mask all over again. I couldn’t even see how I was adjusting the clip with transform, I had to guess. Can I use a saver node on the color page too? Or should I just select the clip and render in place?

Fusion can do some amazing stuff. Look at Rony Soussons' walkthroughs of the effects he did on the movie Anonymous. But we get pieces of toast, Star Wars recreations in a field. Love that feedback. I'm not sure about the speed between Fusion and Color. I haven't tested that. However, I did notice it faster in Resolve 19 than 18. It also could be if you have a lower res timeline, and that the color page is working on your timeline resolution? possibly?
      Regarding ProRes - that is a good method too, especially on macs with prores encoders. For ProRes I would render on the delivery page, and make sure to check the box at the very bottom of the advanced dropdown to disable sizing from the edit page. The deliver page retains timecode, vs render in place and saver doesn't support .MOV

    • @rubefink
      @rubefink 6 месяцев назад

      @@CreativeVideoTips thanks for the reply. Nice to know that 19 is a little bit faster. In my speed test, it was same resolution same clip and the color page took half the time, but I’ll test again in 19 once we go live with it in our production. lately, I’ve just found it easier to generate my magic masks, and mattes inside of Color then render those out and bring them into Fusion just because of the speed of the mask tracking. Keep up your hard work. I’ve benefited a ton from your Tuts. Thanks heaps.

      @@TransformXRED instead of having to use nodes like Saver/Loader, you can just click "Freeze" and it freezes the mask, no matter if you close the program, delete cache or whatever, it doesn't DELETE the mask like in fusion

      Fusion already comes with something like that which is the "Cache do disk" option that every node has.

    Can you do easy to follow tutorials ( Ideally for noobs ) on Removing Background, Blurring background, Replacing Background, Darkening or lightening background on Combat sports fighters? They tend to strike/move quick and basic magic mask will fail most of the time. It would be great if you could do tutorials magic masking on Boxers , Kick-boxers, Muay Thai fighters, MMA fighters, Lethwei fighters, Karate fighters, etc. Thanks.

    Is there way to save regular masks?

    • @CreativeVideoTips
      @CreativeVideoTips  Месяц назад +1

      you could do the same method with a saver node - however you don't really need to, they don't store much data like magic mask. Is there a use case I haven't covered here?

      @@CreativeVideoTips my apologies, found out it was power windows that I wanted to save . Which I did but for the life of me I cant get them to apply .

      I think this is a new bug in 19.1.1 - are you on the newest version? If so can you post on the bmd forum?

      @ I think Imit was because the folder name didn’t match exactly the exr name. 🤷🏽‍♂️. But then it became a “WARNING Last render did not complete” situation.
      I ended up making an Apple ProRes 4444xq render of the mask and using that instead.
      Thank you for sharing your knowledge, I’m learning so much.

    fyi: what you refer to as the "double erode trick" is a known morphological operation (closing/opening, closing in your case): en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Closing_(morphology)
