These guys still have the energy of a band just starting out, they are one of the last thrash bands still staying true to their sound. I can't believe we're almost to 20 albums.
Always thought they should get way more credit. It really should be the Big 6 with Overkill and Testament (big 7 if you add Exodus). Of all the thrash bands making music, they are the only one that I still buy whatever they put out. Love Overkill.
I am now 45 and still jam to & play various metal songs....you have to stay true to yourself and stick to your roots. Never forget where you came from...
Me too But their Best stuff was 85 - 98.I like how they release stuff just wish more of it was not so same sounding. always thought it would be cool if Bobby Gufstufson rejoined or Rat skates or sid falk.
With exception of a few 90's albums, they still bang out thrash album after thrash album! From the underground and below is such a great album. Industrial influences, yet still kept the thrash sound, even with Horrorscope they still kept that overkill signature sound!
Taking Over steamrolled through my ears in 1987, bought Feel The Fire immediately after that and everything they´ve done since to this day. Caught them live in 2010, finally, in Tuska Open Air, Helsinki. Love of a lifetime for me, Overkill.
First time I ever heard Overkill was in ‘99, I think. It was on a digital music channel on cable, and it was the song Thunderhead. I was hooked ever since.
Good evening, Mr. and Mrs. America, and all the ships at sea, this is Bobby Blitz from OverKill, and you are listening to 89.5 WSOU Pirate Radio! Ah, the memories!
I know them from taking over never been decived they are real metal band with power saw them live in Québec city 5 years ago it was awesome can’t wait to see them in Qc🇨🇦🇨🇦 long live Overkill a die hard fan 🥁🥁👏👏👏
It's amazing what difference long hair makes on Jason Bittner. If you were to tell me he used to play for Shadows Fall I never would have believed you.
First time I heard Over Kill was on a community radio station in Dallas called KNON. They hosted a metal show back in the 80's that would come on late night every Saturday if I remember correctly. Fatal If Swallowed was the first song I ever heard by them.
It was after the Slayer/OVERKILL tour in 85 cause they played at City Gardens and I caught a Lombardo drum stick , whatever . OVERKILL was doing something at Rock Dreams in Mount Holly promoting a show that night at The Satellite in Cookstown NJ which I had seen a thousand times driving past it growing up in the next town New Egypt but never went in cause we didn't listen to Foghat . Really what OVERKILL was doing at Rock Dreams i don't remember but we missed them but came up with plan , we talked with someone on OVERKILL's crew and then a manager and said we wanted to interview the band for article in New Egypt Press and my girlfriend's dad knew the owner of the Satellite which was the only true thing we said we had no intention of writing article , no one worked for the paper we just wanted to meet the band and party with them after show . There was 4 or 5 of us that went and asked questions (stoned out of our minds) Blitz was fucking cool as hell and a fucking bad ass , no he did not have a fucking aura or anything but he was OVERKILL 's front man and cocky as fuck and 19 albums later is the baddest metal front man ever from Jersey and OVERKILL is the baddest metal band from the Garden State motherfuckers .
MY INTRODUCTION TO OVERKILL: In 1988 a friend and myself were in a record store looking for our monthly CDs to buy. There wasn't anything there that jumped out at us. We decided to get T shirts. He pointed at the Overkill Middle finger Fuck You shirt and said that a band with a shirt like that HAS to be good. We never heard of them so went back and saw Taking Over was there. We went back home with a bunch of beers and listened........and listened. I was hooked ever since.
I've lived here in northern NJ my whole life - Ridgefield Park to Elmwood Park to next town over, Fair Lawn- and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else, but for the winter months that I think I could live without and the density of the population & its effects on driving. Oh and lastly, the freaking taxes/property taxes in NJ are awful. I'm in Bergen county and I think we pay some of the highest property taxes in the entire United States. Anyway, it's a great area for seeing rock/metal shows too. There are actually a lot of musicians and actors that are from here as well. As for the state being the butt of jokes, that's ok, I can laugh, but I must say that it is a very nice place to live & if it were not, then why would so many NYC transplants decide to move & live here & commute to the city for work... I grew up listening to Seton Hall's radio station too, since it was our novelty metal station around here, "pirate radio", WSOU. I vividly remember the Bobby Blitz promo mentioned in the video too. He's right, that's what was said; I can still recall it in my head as I sit here. Bummer was that I was too young to go to any type of clubs until after 1990 & missed a lot of great stuff. I'm making up for it now...
Didn’t think Overkill could get any better, then Jason Bittner joins..my god he is a absolute beast behind the kit!! Can’t wait to hear the rest of the album!
I've seen every notable metal bands from lamb of god to slayer to exodus I will say this when I saw Overkill open for Testament it was by far the most violent pit I've ever been,no other band ever came close to evoking such violence.
Saratoga Winners...Rt 9..still have all my ticket stubs, sticks, pics, set lists...see you in March at Northern Lights..(sorry, upstate concert hall)...
Long Live the Birch Hill, saw some great shows in that place. WSOU still plays metal to this day, they are on IHeart Radio if you live outside the area and want to check them out. Hell I lived in Jersey and was out of their range.
Back in the late 80's/early 90's i had to put a metal hangar in my stereo's antenna to get proper reception. I was in Rockland County, NY just over the Jersey border.
These guys still have the energy of a band just starting out, they are one of the last thrash bands still staying true to their sound. I can't believe we're almost to 20 albums.
Best thrash band out there!
19 albums 👊🏻🤟

Still the best of the Big 7 - never changed and actually gotten better the past few releases!
I've never heard of the Big 7, is it the Big 4 and three others, and who are they?
Love this band for its consistency. 19 albums and counting.
Me too But their Best stuff was 85 - 98.I like how they release stuff just wish more of it was not so same sounding. always thought it would be cool if Bobby Gufstufson rejoined or Rat skates or sid falk.
How are these guys not more popular?? I don’t know much about OverKill but from what I’ve heard they are thrash through and through.
The hardest working thrash bands in the business. American Thrash at its finest!
With exception of a few 90's albums, they still bang out thrash album after thrash album! From the underground and below is such a great album. Industrial influences, yet still kept the thrash sound, even with Horrorscope they still kept that overkill signature sound!
Sorry, I meant "I hear Black" not Horrorscope.
Overkill is the only reason I love living in New Jersey
And the Misfits.
Taking Over steamrolled through my ears in 1987, bought Feel The Fire immediately after that and everything they´ve done since to this day. Caught them live in 2010, finally, in Tuska Open Air, Helsinki. Love of a lifetime for me, Overkill.
Proof that thrash metal still is the some of the best. Timeless metal. Great energy. Lets see what other genres last over 30 years
submetal genres*
Some of the bands today do have that potential, however, it all depends on how true they are...
Years of decay and under the influence are classic albums
love the first single. I can't wait to hear the rest !
So so to me, but I'l bet they have something better on full record. My fav thrash band.
Still heavy, still killer, still Overkill! Awesome! \m/
This band along with nuclear assault was my first exposure to metal. 🤘🏻thanks for not letting me slip into pop music.
Certified Platinum!!!!!
First time I ever heard Overkill was in ‘99, I think. It was on a digital music channel on cable, and it was the song Thunderhead. I was hooked ever since.
Saw them in 1991 and 1995 they were great shows
Good evening, Mr. and Mrs. America, and all the ships at sea, this is Bobby Blitz from OverKill, and you are listening to 89.5 WSOU Pirate Radio!

Thanks to modern technology, I still listen to WSOU, in South Carolina.

Workhorses of heavy metal! Blue collar! Never quit! Never disappointed! Kudos Blitz, DD and company!
Overkill never dies
LEGENDS NEVER DIE!
For me the best trash metal band, super power, super performance!

@@hmpz36911 Last show I went to there was Savatage in 98, was going to the bathroom and ran into Jon Olivia at the back bar.
@@roguelead72 Funny how huge TSO are, but it was basically Savatage.
