Absolute Lrgend!!!!!!!! What a band!!!!!!! I grew up with this band back in the 80s & love them. He is an infectious positive character!!!!! Bobby, Love u brother!!!!!!!!! Thanx for a great interview!!!!!!!!!!!
Overkill is my favorite thrash band of all time! Blitz is a legend and one of the most down-to-earth guys one could ever meet. I saw them live for my very first time back in March of 2022 in the North Carolina mountains. I was at the very front leaning up against the barricade. What an incredible show.
Overkill are still crushing it. My band, M1 A1, opened for them on their Horrorscope tour in 1992 at the Escape Club in Salisbury Beach, Massachusetts. What a show that was.
Co-worker handed me a cassette copy of "Years Of Decay" back in '89 and said, "listen to this and get back to me". I didn't want to give the cassette back. I've been a fan ever since. Blitz has NEVER given into fads and changes in the musical landscape over the years and just does what he does. Pure thrash. Take it or leave it.
Thumbs up for Bobby Ellsworth! He is one of those guys/frontmen who always is so down to earth, in good mood, honest and likeable. Hope this interview would have lasted for 90 minutes!
What a great guy he is. I just saw him last Saturday in my city, and you can immediately tell how well he has treated his voice. It is unbelievable he sings perfectly. The band is a freaking well-oiled machine, they gave us everything they had, smashed us, and left the stage leaving us with a big smile on our faces. Love you Bobby and Overkill. Hope to see you again.
Blitz is the man! One of the best voices I’ve ever heard. Great guy too. But first time I heard his voice with the crushing sound going on around him, I was immediately hooked. He may not take the credit, but Blitz and Overkill should’ve gotten way more
i only ever got to see Overkill once, it was way back around 1990 when i graduated, "Taking Over" was one of my absolute favorite albums in high school and its still probably in my top 5.
Great video and wonderful interview. I can positively attest to all the comments about Bobby being a most friendly and brilliant frontman/songwriter. I interviewed Overkill many times as a college kid back in the late 80’s and early 90’s,,, then had the pleasure of working with the band during the I Hear Black/WFO era, and also played in Bobby’s side project years later. Great times!
Great interview thank you for asking these questions!! As an aspiring singer with Bobby as one of my biggest inspirations I’ve wondered about all the answers to these questions myself for a long time!Happy birthday Bobby and thanks for everything! Living for the kill! 💚🖤🤘🏻
I was 12 when my older cousin went to prison and he left his cd’s with me. Years of Decay was one of them and it blew my mind. Horrorscope dropped about a year later.
Bobby is such a cool bloke and one hell of a singer. Besides, Overkill is one of the fewest heavy metal big acts who remained loyal to the fanbase throughout the years and never sold out.
I had a Beer with Bobby back in the 90's at a Metal Music Night Club in S. St. Louis, Mo. The Metal's Edge! Between sets Bobby was walking through the Crowd of People to the Bar, and i Stopped him for a Brief Conversation!!! Cool Dude!!!
Bobby Blitz is proly the only vocalist to have a talking voice that sounds just like his singing voice 😂😂 like you're gonna hear Eeeeh! any minute now. Also love his signature evil laughter.😈☠️ Which can be so aptly heard in the music of Overkill. Great guy and total legend. All hails to evil venomous thrash ! 🤟👹⚡
Great interview and excellent questions about his voice and longevity. Met Bobby in Toronto for the underground below tour and he was the most down to earth person I met in the genre. We talked about songwriting and recording and helped a lot with the direction and techniques of writing better songs. Hopefully they come back to Canada. And LOUD...LOUDEST concert ever!!
Blitz has such a unique voice that hasn't really changed that much through the years. It's kind of amazing that he is more like a long-distance athlete at this point. I saw them forever ago opening for Megadeth in club and his voice just shook the place. cut to all these years later and it is still the same power that he brings. Even his speaking voice is not very different from the way he delivers vocals on songs... There is just an intensity a personality that comes out.
I have now seen this video for the first time. I just wrote a RUclips comment about it a few days ago. For me, Bobby would have been the ideal singer for AC/DC instead of Axel Rose. I'm glad that Bobby personally confirms here that one voice fits especifically for the Bon Scott stuff. This is ecxactly my thinking. Of course I am an old school Overkill fan! Well done to myself ... hahaha!
I'm sorry, but I don't agree with everyone, I think a lot of recognition belongs to Bobby Gustafson, he is Soley responsible for getting Overkill on the map, that's why I still follow Bobby G because even in his 2 Satan's Taint albums, he sounds more like the old school Overkill sound.
I saw em in Miami on Taking Over with the original Megadeth and The Necros opening, on the Peace Sells tour in '87 on Rat Skate's birthday. Overkill was the loudest band I ever heard at this show. And then Megadeth was louder. Some guy hit a pole up the street and Megadeth kept losing power and had to run off the stage a bunch of times. And I swear I saw an early Pogo from Marilyn Manson at this show. It was at the Cameo.
How did that beautiful woman give birth to that ugly, scruffy baby? 🤣🤣🤣 Just kidding, Bobby. You're the best. Back in the day when I first heard Overkill I had this picture in my mind of Bon Scott singing in a thrash metal band.
I Auditioned For Overkill 1983 And One Song We Did Was Fast As A Shark And I Thought He Nailed Udo Back Then Unfortunately Gustafson And I Did Not Mesh Well With The Guitars In 1984 Joined Nuclear Assault And Did A Few Gigs With Overkill In Early 85 The Early Pioneers Of East Coast Thrash Along With Anthrax.

Hell yeah he is
Bobby Blitz is the man
Yes he is. Super nice guy to chat with. 🤟
bobby is such a nice guy....very good interview !!
Thanks. I think this went great too as he is so outspoken and nice guy. 😊👍
I've been an Overkill fan since seeing the "In Union We Stand" video on MTV in the 1980's....They still rule!
Absolute Lrgend!!!!!!!! What a band!!!!!!! I grew up with this band back in the 80s & love them. He is an infectious positive character!!!!! Bobby, Love u brother!!!!!!!!! Thanx for a great interview!!!!!!!!!!!

Been a fan of Overkill since picking up Under the Influence... The band is genuine and they don't care what anyone says. :) That's METAL.
I love Overkill, and have met Bobby twice. He's a cool guy to meet.
Wait, are you the guy who bl@w him back in ‘78?!?!? He always talks about that incident.
Thumbs up for Bobby Ellsworth! He is one of those guys/frontmen who always is so down to earth, in good mood, honest and likeable. Hope this interview would have lasted for 90 minutes!
"Feel the Fire" was FUCKING AWESOME when it came out!!!! Have been listening to them every since!
Seen Overkill at the lost horizon Syracuse NY 1986 and forever more at the lost horizon up in Syracuse like they lived there!!😅 Overkill 🤘🤘
I get to see Overkill and King Diamond for the first time next week. Im so ready
I grew up in the years of analog. absolutely love Overkill from day one. They never compromised their music for $$$. They are great.
Saw these guys at the Aragon ballroom in Chicago when I was in my late teens. Great band, motivated me to jump in and start my own!
The mans voice has stayed strong all these years! Still the best metal singer IMO
What a great guy he is. I just saw him last Saturday in my city, and you can immediately tell how well he has treated his voice. It is unbelievable he sings perfectly. Ever hear my album with him? THE CURSED Room Full of Sinners
Overkill is one of the metal greats. I Hear Black is underrated af.
Love Overkill and Bobby, and his mother was beautiful.
Blitz is the man! One of the best voices I’ve ever heard. Great guy too. But first time I heard his voice with the crushing sound going on around him, I was immediately hooked. He may not take the credit, but Blitz and Overkill should’ve gotten way more
The legend.
I have seen Overkill 3 times now and hands down Bobby Blitz the best. What a guy.
One of the best from the thrash era. Met him more than I can count and always fun each and every time
i only ever got to see Overkill once, it was way back around 1990 when i graduated, "Taking Over" was one of my absolute favorite albums in high school and its still probably in my top 5.
Funny story, that Columbia record house deal Bobby is talking about in the beginning is how I got my first Overkill album. 😂

most consistent band ever.. I also got into music from Columbia House.. picked the coolest album covers
Bobby "Blitz"... grandissimo !
I love overkill, my favorite album is feel the fire from 1985 fucking classic
Bobby Blitz is proly the only vocalist to have a talking voice that sounds just like his singing voice 😂😂 like you're gonna hear Eeeeh! any minute now. Also love his signature evil laughter.😈☠️ Which can be so aptly heard in the music of Overkill. Great guy and total legend. All hails to evil venomous thrash ! 🤟👹⚡
I like how Blitz corrected himself about the Killing Machine title!
The happiest guy in heavy metal!
I can only imagine his parents' reaction during the show when he shouts "We don't care...What you say!!!"
Hail Bobby, and forever hail OVERKILL!!!
Amen to Over Kill 🙏
Great interview and excellent questions about his voice and longevity. Met Bobby in Toronto for the underground below tour and he was the most down to earth person I met in the genre. big fan of overkill been listening to since 1985 the new album scorched is freaking awesome
Everything they have ever done has been solid. Legendary band in my books!
In Overkill i trust!
In Union We Stand!

Bobby RULES!!!

Good Interview.
Damn, now i want to hear Bobby sing some Bon Scott
In Union We Stand Blitz!!!!!!!!

Bobby is Jersey Royalty!!
His Mom actually sang along with Mitch!
Awesome!!! 🔥 💀 🔥 👍 😎
Overkill rules \m/
Blitz is fucking living metal. Listen the new 'tallica compared to same time released overkill and see the difference
How did that beautiful woman give birth to that ugly, scruffy baby? 🤣🤣🤣
Just kidding, Bobby. You're the best.
Back in the day when I first heard Overkill I had this picture in my mind of Bon Scott singing in a thrash metal band.
Too humble, Bobby has a fucking terrific voice, from subtle stresses and high shrieks. come on.
Blitz is the Man !! Metallica should be taking OverKill out with them !!!!
i would love to see that. they deserve a big payday playing in front of arena's and stadium's.!!!!!!
Would love to see
OVER KILL play with
Megadeth
Metallica would never do that because Overkill is so much better . And in a live situation sheeps in the audience would notice and hear that.
Overkill should have been in "The Big Five".
Hah, the record deals back then, I joined BMG at 9 years old, for a penny I got 11 albums, and my parents got the bill every month 😮
Saw them at Ramapo College in NJ for Years of Decay tour, awesome!
🤘💚💀🖤🤘
Damn, his mom was beautiful.
Good interview but yah spelled his nickname wrong over his head.
It is so sad that Bobby was replaced by 2 guitarist. They are a great band but they are a better band when Bobby G.
Your logo looks like it says CHOMOS
Overkill new album is so much better than Metallica new album
It's BLITZ NOT BLIS Get It Right!
It's BLITZ NOT BLIZ GET IT RIGHT DUDE
Blitz is a legend but boy o boy is he lookin old.
All Legends Get Old!
As hard as he works, at 64 he looks damn healthy
We’re all gettin old, but Bobby makes it look good! 🤘🏼
Lets go devils!!!! And overkill !!!
Bobby Blitz’s wallet is the one that says BAD MOTHERF@CKER on it
