Why don't they just train the dog without the collar? It's just one tool, there plenty other tools and methods to use. I never understood why some people are so insistent on using ecollars, even when they don't work for their specific case (for whatever reason).
Your not going to be able to teach a friend how to use a remote collar on your dog in a 10 minute. Its impossible. You cannot do it. Better to tell te person to keep the dog on a lash or long line. Problems solved
@@efrawley55 Yes that would be counted as educating that silly person. :) However for a little puppy I would be very careful with the leash as well not to do harsh corrections. I guess good trainers like you and Michael should just tell people to be nice to their puppies and particularly under 6 months in most cases and let them develop confidence or any other good advice based on your extensive experience for to be nice to puppies :)
I cry every time I see me dogs ecollar on it’s hook…I rarely used it but she died from an inoperable brain tumour. I believe it didn’t do any good and she also hated it. I believe it may have been the cause of her brain tumour at 3yrs old she died. Don’t get one. Don’t use it.
@CC-uq4hu Sorry for your loss, It sadly happens to all of us. My first introduction to e-collars and prong collars was disturbing. I learned that anyone can call themselves a dog trainer. Anyway, a few look years later and a little wiser, you're fundamental have to be perfect before even consider using an e-collar. Every problem that I've run into with an e-caller is solo because of my own inadequacies. It's not the tools it's the operator. 🙏
@@TheWarriorScout I agree it takes perfection and sadly little room for error….the dog does suffer even if these experts try to tell you otherwise. It is an electric shock. Thank you for your kind words. I’m still devastated by CoCo passing she was only three, just coming out of her teenage years and maturing into my perfect ddr working line black beauty shepherd.
Loosing a dog is like loosing a family member. It's drop dead terribe. But with this said there 100% no way that a remote collar caused cancer. I bought my first collar in 1978,. My digs get their collars on every morning before we go outside and they come off right after their last pee break. I am 76 years old and have owned hundred of more dogs than you Remote collars are the best training tool that has ever been invented - if the handler gets trained on how to use them correctly - with my 2 little dgs I never use stimulation - I only need the vibration more because thats all they need. So while I am sorry for your loss. - don't come to my channel and spread bad inaccurate informationIf you d I will delete your posts.
Great video and orientation, as always. There's nothing like experienced and wise people to teach some of us.
Such great advise on a great training tool as long as it’s in the right hands!
Great post … so much to ask Cindy 😊
My GSDs get excited when the remote collars come out. They think It's time to play, they don't realize they're training. 😏

You made a mistake by not going or at least trying to educate that guy for the sake of the puppy, never hurts to try.

ecollars dont cause brain tumors. sorry for your loss... but thats just not how this works...
That’s a new one..Blaming the ecollar for that? I assume you have some type of evidence that they have EVER been linked to brain tumor?
