Man thanks for sharing ✊🏼 I own the Micropitch but that Keeley Halo pedal sounds awesome. I must buy one for sure. Thanks again and I thought I was subbed to you because you are always on my recommended feed but I am definitely subbed now. Have a great day man 👍
Thanks for the sub! I really appreciate it! Stay tuned for my upcoming "Bumblebee" series! Yep, that Keeley Halo pedal really adds a lot of depth and width to the stereo field. I love it!!!
Thanks brother! I appreciate that! Hang in there! I'm sure you'll get some gnarly tones when you're done! \m/ I thought about doing another video of my full W/D/W rig, but I won't be able to capture the audio direct into the DAW for that one.
Hello Brian Is it a factory preset on the Keeley Halo please ? Thanks. I just got this pedal today.. Nicolas from France NB: You got a really nice tone 🙂
Thanks for watching, Nicolas! Congrats on your new pedal! For this video I am using factory preset #1 on the Halo...so it's basically Andy Timmon's default preset. When you turn the pedal on, it automatically loads this first preset. I hope this helps!
Awesome tones! Did you have the Halo set tot the actual Halo preset? Planning on very similar setup as you sold me on the micropitch and now also the Halo! 🤟🏼
Thanks! Maybe I'll do a video about it soon! It's a GMW creation... I sent my USA Charvel neck and plate to Lee Garver and he created the body to my specs and provided the custom paint work.
@@CoffeeDrinker71 I’ve heard nothing but positive comments and reviews on GMW Guitar Works. I would love to own an early 80s style Charvel San Dimas and I’m considering building my own or have GMW built me one. Hope that Tiger Guitar video soon! Cheers!
Killer tone, I love the sound of the MicroPitch! Makes an already great tone sound larger than life! The mystery pedal...I’m sure it’s a Joy to use 😉 How would you say it compares to the MXR?
Great catch!!! I'm actually planning to create a video soon with the "mystery pedal" hopefully in the next few weeks. It is pretty decent so far though. I'll do a side by side comparison with the real MXR version! Stay tuned!
In the first few minutes of the video I walked through the signal chain in the Line 6 Helix "Edit" software. The chain flowed like this: Guitar > Mesa MK IV amp model > tube compressor > Marshall TV cab > stereo fx loop out of Helix into Eventide Micropitch > Keeley Halo Delay > FX loop return back into Helix > into DAW. I hope that helps!
I don't know if I would say it's much "better" than the pitch block in the Helix. For the purpose of building authentic EVH W/D/W presets on my Helix, the pitch block worked perfectly and sounded fantastic. Where the MicroPitch stands out is the extended flexibility of having it's own set of factory presets to emulate all the classic H3000 and other algorithms. So, it's a very good addition on the pedal board for those reasons alone. I would highly recommend checking out some demo videos of that pedal particularly to see and hear what those factory presets are all about!!! But, in terms of using it for just the +9/-9 typical setting for EVH tones....the pitch block in the Helix is very capable of delivering that effect. Hope that helps!
Yeah I also do not understand the secrecy of showing setting of a preset. Everybody sounds different because it is in your fingers, not thr gear. Leon has good video about that.
Thanks for the video! I am contemplating either the Keeley Halo or now the Boss SDE-3000 EVH delay to get the "Balance" era tone but the price tag for the latter is 2x. Does the Keeley get close to that delay sound in your opinion? Sounds awesome.
That’s a very tough call….as I’m also contemplating if I “need” the SDE-3000. The Halo does it’s own thing very well and can easily pull off the EVH type of dual delays. I haven’t really dived too deep in it yet. The tones/settings in this video were literally the stock preset that AT uses. I’m sure if you dove into the menus you could dial in that EVH secret recipe of 398 and 798 ms split between two delays. So, I really can’t say which direction you should go. Obviously the SDE-3000 was created specifically for the EVH delay settings and also comes with some modulation effects as well, while the Halo also creates some amazing atmospheric delay tones. But, right after making this video I purchased a Fractal AXE FX III and it also has this SDE-3000 “vintage digital delay” setting as well….and it totally nails the same tones, so now I’m really torn about buying the SDE!!!!
@@CoffeeDrinker71 That’s saying something, as your tone with Helix was awesome. Besides my amps I still use a Line 6 Pod HD500X for some modern tones and that thing is ancient already. I really wanna step up to more advanced modelers but option paralysis scares me 😆. Is Axe FX easy to use vs Helix and sound that much better? Thanks in advance
@@benjaminbarnett3696 Thank you! I agree, it can be overwhelming to make the decision on modelers these days. The technology is so good! Axe FX versus Helix...Hmmm...it's very subjective of course. What I can say from experience is the interface on the Helix is much more user friendly, but getting specific tones for me was sometimes a challenge. I know it's improved greatly with the 3.50 update with the new cab model system. But, the Axe Fx also just received a similar update with a virtual cab simulator as well. As far as tones are concerned, hands down the Axe Fx sounded much better right out of the box. The amps and cabs are already in the sweet spot if you know what I mean. The interface is a little more difficult to learn (at first) but after a few weeks it became more intuitive. So, it really depends what you value the most. The Axe Fx has waaaaaay more amp models to choose from as well. I would suggest looking at a list of those amp and cab models (there is a Fractal Wiki page which lists them all). After using the Helix for 5+ years, and then moving over to the Axe Fx last fall, I couldn't be happier with the decision to switch. It was definitely worth it!!!
I think you are right, for most applications. In this case I was trying to push it a little bit to try to get closer to a big arena filled with Eddie's tone! :)
@@CoffeeDrinker71 I like the Eventide. I have tried a Boss PS-6 Harmonist for the detune function to get Van Hagar era stuff (aka Balance tone). The Halo does nice staggered delay

Curious, for your MicroPitch, are you using and effect loop, or are you going into each amp's inputs to achieve stereo?
