Psalms 149:4 For the LORD taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation./Inspiration+People are imperfect. But God’s church is made of people, and He has exalted his church. He loves these imperfect people deeply, and He wants the best for them. This is our hope, and what we are thankful for. God has promised salvation to His church, and we can be certain that He will deliver it. /Prayer+ Lord, I praise You! You have loved Your church and delivered us from evil. You will bring us to salvation, of that I am sure. May our hearts remain clean as we wait for the return of Christ, and may we be filled with faith that moves us to serve You. In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

When somebody brings unjustified deadly force (or a credible threat of deadly force), it is fully morally right (and arguably a moral duty) to stop them by any means up to deadly force. Its also completly legal in the majority of the United States (unless you live in some un-american shithole like zoo york or commiefornia). We cannot expect a civil society to remain as such if we do not protect the natural and inherent value of human life. We therefore must take a zero tolerance stance on any who violate that principle.

Bad advice from police. Crowds are advised to allow a lone gunman to shoot into the crowd with impunity. If more crowds took action like this, gunmen would start fearing for their lives and think twice before doing something like this.
Currently, gunmen who go on a killing spree know they may be stopped by the police, but don't fear the crowd they are shooting at. That has to change.

Not the fault of the police.
Police enforce the law. Stop & protect. Process the report.
The rest of the criminal justice system involves the Prosecutor and defense attorney’s… courts… and eventually jury involvement.
Gonna admit EVERY time I have shown up for Jury Duty. I sit through the voir dire jury selection process I listen to the majority of potential jurors whine, wheedle and complain trying to get excused. Saying things to NOT get selected.
Sadly, though we in theory have one of the best criminal justice systems in the world. The weakest part of the system is the apathy of the citizens too busy to invest an interest in the outcome of the trial.

Now people sit behind bars for life off the tax payer. Death is a hefty price but if it can be proved without a doubt then in cases were people intentionally go out to kill then let them get painful death. Obviously if it's circumstantial murder than find other punishment but people who plan the death of others shouldn't be handled lightly

Hell, the gunman himself might’ve even been able to walk free from the crime scene, at least for some time until he’d be found by police later on. events like these are the exact reason why gun rights should NOT be restricted. who knows what would’ve happened instead had there not been stones lying around. yeah, a couple of rocks and bricks can kill someone. but it would’ve been a whole Hell of a lot easier for those heroic bystanders had they used a gun instead.

"It is unclear if any would face charges" we all know that not a single jury would convict these people. Finish your reports, take his body away, and let them clean up the bricks they borrowed.

I do believe they said the assailant was "running away, while still firing" or words to that effect. Don't know the law in Texas, but in communist Maryland, you would absolutely be liable. We supposedly have 'castle doctrine' but with the addendum of 'duty to retreat'. In Maryland, if they are running away, you must let them go. if they come onto your lawn, you must go in the house.
Only if they breach the house, and possibly only after you have run upstairs to your bedroom, or out the back door to your patio/back yard, may you take take action or use deadly force.

@@johns9652 it literally doesn't matter what the law is. The jury doesn't have to convict you and you're entitled to be tried by a jury of your peers. You never have to win the argument of whether or not you committed the crime. You just need enough of the jury to say "yeah, I'd do that too" and vote not guilty. Not a single jury would successfully vote that they were guilty (they only get one voice, you won't convince enough of them to convict)

@@A_Vicious_T-Rex You are basically referring to 'Jury Nullification', the mere mention of which will get you kicked out of any jury pool. Tough to take a stand with only the hope of citizens finding you to be sympathetic above and beyond the law.

    • @A_Vicious_T-Rex

@@johns9652 no I'm not. They're not required to convict you of a crime whether you did it or not. If you can present a convincing argument at trial, they can choose to not convict. Based on the evidence and the days events, you'd be hard pressed to find a jury willing to convict them
