I just got accepted into Bama under the Crimson Edge program. I’ll be attending fall 2021! My GPA is 3.59 and act was 18. I could’ve boosted my score, but due to COVID, I decided to just keep my original score! Thanks for this video ❤️👏🏾
Yay!!! Congratulations love!! I’m so happy for you🥳you will love it here! If you have any questions about crimson edge or just the school in general just let me know🥰 so happy I could help!!!
Yay!!! congratulations love 🤗They call the crimson edge program a "program" but in reality its just a freshman seminar class that you take your first semester at UA along with your other classes (math, science, etc.) ! I came to UA Fall of 2017 and took my course from August-December (fall semester). That Spring semester I graduated from the "program" and was done with crimson edge all together! the class is very very very easy lol and it's sort of a class where you can relax and bond with your classmates. college is not an easy thing, all the time, so to have people around you that can relate to what all of yall are going through was truly the best! -In Crimson Edge you receive your own personal academic advisor, tutoring (if needed), and other support from peers and faculty that work within the program. Although the class ends after your first semester, you are still able to meet with your given advisor which was a plus because they check in with you to help you register for the following semester, see how your grades and classes are going, and any other problems you may have! Its very nice because you get to know your advisor well! Mine actually introduced me to my minor (Cyber Criminology), if it wasn't for her, I would have never known about the field--and now I'm headed to get my master's in that same field lol -the advisors also help you to register for classes and are available whenever you need them. -I would definitely say being in crimson edge was a big plus and advantage because you're given an advisor that cares and wants to help. They show a lot of attention to your needs. If you ever need anything just let me know!! No worries sis!! you got it 🥳
@@JasmineCheyenne thank you so much and also we follow each other on IG so I will most definitely be in contact with you if I need any other questions answered. I’m from Charlotte NC so Alabama would be a big change for me.
@@anaiyawalton5724 Omg that's right around the corner!! I wish covid wasn't a thing so you could get the full experience but it will still be people on campus! let me know if you have any questions 🥰
I would like to know some more information such as, does this go onto your fafsa? how many semesters where you able to complete during your freshman year? ... there are more but that's all I can think of for now
Hey girl! the crimson edge program did not effect my FAFSA nor did it cost extra to take the CE course. If you want to double check just call student account services -- 205-348-5350 success.ua.edu/advising/crimson-edge-faq *I was able to complete two semesters. I took 14 credit hours my very first semester (Fall 2017). Originally, my CE academic advisor had registered me for 17, which was not a problem; however, at the time my major was business and after going to that class the first day, I decided i didn't want to major in it anymore so i dropped the class. That took me down to 14. usually, the average amount of hours to take is 15 hours, but the CE course is 2 credit hours and my other classes were 3 credit hours = 14 total. *Another thing I wanted to include is that in order to stay on track each year (freshman, sophomore, junior, etc) you basically have to take 30 or so credit hours a year. During my first semester (Fall 2017) I took 14 credit hours and during my second semester (Spring 2018) I took 15 credit hours, so my freshman year I took 29 credit hours total. My 3rd semester, I came in that year with 29 credit hours, so I was still considered a freshman. I wasn't considered a sophomore officially until my 4th semester of college (Spring 2019). After this current semester (Spring 2020) is over in May, I will have 93 credit hours total. Looking at the classifications below, I will be considered a senior after final grades are put in. I hope this was helpful! let me know if you have any more questions 💕 *Here's the overview of how many credit hours are applied each year and how UA classifies their students: -- Keep in mind, NOTHING is wrong with taking however many hours you choose to! Do not let anyone rush your college years or your course load. Take however many hours you are comfortable with b/c in the end you will still get your degree! Freshman: 0-30.999 semester credit hours earned Sophomore: 31-60.999 semester credit hours earned Junior: 61-90.999 semester credit hours earned Senior: 91 or more semester credit hours earned catalog.ua.edu/undergraduate/about/academic-regulations/records/classification-students/
Erica, it doesn’t hurt to apply and just see what happens!! 😊 you may or may not need to be accepted under the crimson edge program but don’t worry until you receive a letter in the mail! Stay positive most importantly❤️
Alabama is my dream school and as a senior in HS my act isn’t the best... but my GPA is around a 3.5 do you know the lowest act score you need to be accepted into the program? and can you apply for the program?
Hey Taylor! My ACT score was an 18 or 17 when I applied and got accepted into UA. Im not sure what the lowest score they will take is but your GPA is amazing. You cannot apply directly to crimson edge; however, they will place you into the program if your GPA or ACT is not the minimum that is required. Your situation sounds exactly like mine when I was a senior in HS, If I were you, I would go ahead and apply to UA and go from there!! The only difference in being in crimson edge is taking a freshman seminar course during your first semester, along with your regular course schedule. Definitely isn't hard at all! You got this🥰 success.ua.edu/advising/crimson-edge-faq
