    I have organized closets for a decade for many clients. Here are a few tips. Store off season clothes/boots in your biggest luggage. Use the side down for all travel bags/pouches… slip a huge garbage bad over then & store in a attic/garage/basement. After removing all from your closet make sense of the space for practical purposes. Purge a few items. Your clothes needs space for air flow. You also need a landing space, space for lightly used clothes. Hooks are great. Small bins for caps/sweaters… fold jeans & stack on shelf. They take up too much space for hanging.

      I was in the same frame of mind. Having a garage to store the cold stuff like snow shoes, thermals etc, and keep the closet for everyday/regular use stuff would help to get organized in that small space. My hubby and I have lived in a very small (under 300 sq ft) apartment for the past 7 years, and we share a closet the size of Macenna's closet. This has meant having to really be intentional about how much stuff we have. Seasonal things are switched out and stored in basement storage when not in use.

    • @lindabell5534
      @lindabell5534 6 часов назад

      I'd say garage and the upper closet even under bed storage.. closet and laundry rooms get so little respect for the work they have to do in homes. Only kitchens do more.

    • @HarvestLuna
      @HarvestLuna 6 часов назад +1

      I was hoping she would make use of the luggage as a container. I store ‘travel’ items in the biggest travel item..the luggage. Or store seasonal items in them too.

    I'm so happy that you're excited for the next phase of Cade's life journey. I'm guessing that means he'll be moving into his beautiful nursery. 🥰
    It's a way off for you, but I remember being almost shamed by other moms when my daughter started kindergarten. I was so excited for her next big step and there were so many women standing and crying about "losing my baby"! They tearfully asked how I could be smiling and happy to send her off to school. Um, she wasn't going to Mars, just 10 blocks to the local elementary school for a *half day*! And I felt like that was my job as a Mom - to help prepare her for the next step and then let her free to enjoy her ever expanding life. It seemed such a shame to make a child feel guilty and steal his joy and excitement over expanding his world when that's what he's meant to do!!
    Anyway, never be sad (or hold it for when you're alone) for your child's growth. It's a sign that all is well with him and he's growing into a happy, healthy, well-adjusted boy.
    I'm so proud of you!

    Great video! I also love the early morning because it’s so fresh, quiet and new. Love the closet clean out. I’m always doing that and now have these cute “motion” lights that come on in my closet. They do require batteries but they last forever. And you will “always” have piles trying to grow large, things that appear randomly to put away…not to mention “who done this ?” messes. Develop a “thankful” or “blessed” attitude when dealing with it. Love how you tackle life.

      This closet should be the storing space under the stairs. You can tell, that the ceiling is sloping down. I think there should be at least some secret room, although not much. From the videos I would guess, that the bath does not span the whole width of the laundry room and the bedroom. So at least the depth of the bathroom could be a little extra.

      I know, I'm surprised she didn't think of that when she was designing the kitchen. She also needs a light in there as its so dark.
      She could buy a rechargeable motion sensor one off Amazon which would come on when she's making coffee.
      I have them in my bathroom, one in my bathroom cabinet and one underneath the cabinet which comes on automatically when I use the bathroom in the middle of the night. It's great as I don't need to switch on the main light and doesn't wake me up too much when paying a trip to the bathroom.

We all have one of those closets!!! I call mine the black hole...LOL!!! You have inspired me to tackle it this weekend. See if there's anyway you can pop the closet a bit into the garage. The only answer is to get rid of things. Like if you didn't use the pregnancy pillows, donate them or sell them. Don't let them take up valuable space in your closet "just in case one day maybe possibly" -- NO. You said you didn't like it or use it, so it's ok to let it go. You also don't need 4 travel neck pillows for 2 people. You should really consider working with a professional organizer who will force you to declutter because you seem to make a lot of excuses and talk yourself into keeping things that you don't need anymore.

    I needed to see you organize your closet. I am switching my clothes out tomorrow. And I share a piece of my closet with my husband. It’s a mess too. I’m really surprised he hasn’t said anything to me about it. I can’t get in to find anything. And his bar is in the very back. He gets the shortest bar and I have the longest one. And I still don’t really have enough room. I wanted to do a closet system. But he’s too cheap. We just have the wire shelf and some shoes racks. I gave him one of mine and I still use part of it. So all my things will be coming out after I get my summer clothes out and before I put my winter clothes in. Cade sure is growing. I hopefully get to see my two great grandsons in January. They both live out of state. But come to visit as often as they can with their parents. And I may see my oldest grandson, he’s thirteen, if he’s allowed to come too. I’m not sure where they will all sleep. But we’ll make do.

    Tripp Trapp chairs were the next big thing in Germany when my children were born 25 and 23 years ago respectively. You can get lots of cheaper rip-offs of that design but the original brand is an investment that you won't regret. They use especially durable wood, which will last forever. Stokke Trip Trap high chair is the best thing ever ... I had one when I was a baby and I'm 41 now ... and it is still in use ... I bought one for both of my kids :)

    The high chair also has a baby seat that you can put on top. Maybe for the next baby 😉 I live in Germany and I loved this baby seat because my babies could always be with us at dinner without having to have them in your arms (mostly at least 😅) have a nice day.

    You should get some of the lights off Amazon that you can recharge with a phone charger if it goes out they work great 😊

      I have them in my bathroom cupboards and they work great.
      Macenna needs one in her coffee bar so she can see what she's doing. I'm surprised she didn't have a light fitted in there in her design.

    Have you considered taking all luggage’s / things you will use for future baby / or things you don’t want to part with in the Garage? That’s where I store those items in clear bins so I can see what’s inside

    When you have limited closet space, utilizing every inch of space becomes very important. If it were me, I’d store my shoes under the bed in a plastic bin that Kinsley can’t open(yes, we had a poodle that could open plastic containers for treats). And for some pieces of luggage, use them to store the opposite seasons clothing. Then you don’t have to transfer clothes from upstairs. As I’ve aged, I’m finding that I prefer to have all of my clothes in our room either in the closet or the dressers.

    If thats the garage on the other side of the room then the probably was the kitchen are originally. It would make sense because you walk in from the garage.

    Maybe the back wall of the living room with some ikea storage would give you more much needed storage options. There’s a lot of ikea hack videos on RUclips. You’ll have to resist the urge to have a lot of decoration there and focus on storage …

      She can build storage into the lower half of the units all the way along with shelving above. I suspect most of that storage will be used for hiding Cades toys away as he grows older.

    Hi MaCenna, I have a whole set of Dansk dishware like your mug from the opening scene. I bought them in the early 70's and still love them today. Love watching your channel because we are kindred souls; I understand your need to have the highchair match the kitchen. 💟

    I love the Trip Trap high chairs! We have 2 walnut ones ❤
    Both my 10yo & 4yo sons still use them at the dining table. Super easy to clean & they don't have legs sticking out behind that you trip over. Nice pick Macenna

      Your 10 year old uses a high chair?

    • @candacehari5531
      @candacehari5531 10 часов назад

      @justRoRo it is set up as chair. It doesn't have a tray on it. These chairs are very versatile, adults can sit on them. Both my boys can sit comfortably at the table without needing to kneel on a chair as the seat & footrest height can be adjusted to suit then

    You could check the distance in your closet by drilling a hole in the sheet rock and then sticking a long screwdriver or chopstick through until you hit the concrete wall, that way you can figure out how much space is there and if it's work taking down the wall or not.
    Also, do you not have any attic space upstairs? You could box up your Summer clothing and put it in the loft and then swap winter/ski clothes as the seasons change.
    I have ottoman beds and have all my out of season clothes in lidded boxes underneath my beds. So easy to swap out.

    Just curious why don't move your bedroom upstairs and make your current room a office/guest room? You were recently saying you couldn't fit your desk with the Christmas tree. Maybe that might solve that issue and you would still get to work in a open space. ❤😊

    • @bptatum
      @bptatum 11 часов назад +1

      I think they only have 2 bedrooms upstairs; the guest/nursery & Romeo’s office/clothing storage. But once they move the baby upstairs, I totally agree they’re going to want to sleep closer.
