  • Are you looking to buy a side by side in 2023? There are many side by sides that you may want to consider with some very unique features. Side by Sides or "UTV's" are incredibly helpful on your farm or estate property and can help you do many of the chores needed on a large piece of land. If you need a powerful engine, a lot of accessories and 4X4 choosing the right machine could be an important choice for someone looking to buy a new utv in 2023. The BigHorn Explorer 400 EFI side by side comes equipped with a windshield, a roof, a winch, wide mirrors, turn signals and upgraded wheels. There will also be more accessories available in the future. This side by side is brand new and we take you on it's first real ride. Tractor supply has been known for selling the Coleman Sector 550 from HISUN which is also known as the RK 550 from Rural King and the Massimo 550 as well as some smaller units like the Coleman 400 and the Benche 400. Another similar unit is the CFMOTO 600 and the Massimo TBoss. The new Bighorn UTV will be offered in green, red and camo. BigHorn has been selling the BigHorn 400 at TSC. This machine has a steel dump bed and some really nice styling!

    Thanks for doing this video Joe, great stuff! I went through a UTV search back in February and ended up going with the BigHorn 400 for our SC 300 acre farm and we love it. We have it rigged with a 25 gal sprayer in the bed, electric spreader we mounted to the front brush bars and a home made cultipacker we pull behind the BH for a food plot machine. Our cultipacker is a concrete filled 12" culvert pipe about 56" long/wide weighing in around 400lbs and the BG 400 handles it no problem. Only complaint thus far is that we haven't been able to find a company to insure it, all Ins companies have told us they won't insure it because they can't pull comps on it...nonsense, but I'd go with the Bighorn 400 again, great machine for the small farm/hunt property

Nice if they came with a towing bar and trailer hitch just for the utility Small trailer to haul out fresh deer meat out of the forest. Finally a video on this Bighorn!! Been looking at these at our local TS in NC. My only concern is getting it serviced. Although husband could do this himself I’d think for warranty sake it would have to be a certified service center. I know I’d have to contact bighorn or ask TS about this but for the price and what it comes equipped with it certainly is something to think about! Thanks for this video!!

We have been impressed with the fit and finish of both machines and the 550 has tons pf power. A crew 700 would make sense to me but we are always towing or pulling something. Good luck brother and enjoy that machine!

    I was considering the Coleman UTV400 or the Axis 500, but after seeing this video, I am going today to look at the Bighorn Explorer 400, which for me has the best of both worlds. With that said, there is not much on this, as far as reviews and maintenance. I did see that parts are hard do find and there are some individuals that are unhappy with the owners manual. I heard that this unit does not use an oil filter, but I cannot find out anything on changing the oil or how engine oil is kept clean without a filter. Do you have any information on the above? It would be appreciated. Thank you.

    • @JoeTheFarmer
      @JoeTheFarmer  Год назад

      Hey Craig, I don’t believe that the Coleman 400 takes an oil filter either. I could be wrong. The BigHorn is built by Lanai which has an excellent reputation for quality (partnership with Yamaha I believe) and I would steer you to the BigHorn vs the Coleman 400. Now, we have a Coleman 550 and it has been an excellent machine so if you were going BH vs Coleman 550 I would say get what suits you best because both are great machines. The Coleman 400 just doesn’t feel as substantial as the BH 400. It just feels sturdy and powerful vs the Coleman 400. But it’s all preference. Finally, I don’t buy the parts shortage argument. There are TONS of these machines being built and parts are available. BigHorn or Coleman, never had a problem. I appreciate you watching and keep me posted!

      I think the steering is more “loose” than other machines but nothing like darting back and forth. Were you on gravel or level ground? I think if you care for it and do a solid pre inspection (tighten bolts, grease, check fluids, etc) it should give you years of service. Probably not. Like; it would drive through it…but for a mud machine you need closer to 1000cc’s. Mud is tough on a machine

    No one talks about the gas pedal issue of keeping steady speed?

    Is there a way to quiet this

      Sound deadening material under the seat and in the gap between the seat and bed. It is a loud machine for sure.

      Yeah; had some equip issues lately. Its a catch 22 for me. Fancy cameras can’t take the abuse and gopro’s are buggy. As the channel grows I’ll figure it out and get better. 😁👍🏼

      @JoeTheFarmer how can gopros be buggy this late in their life cycle? Maybe time to try out the new 360 cameras.

      Wish I knew my friend. They also don’t like heat. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Could you tell us what they cost?

    • @JoeTheFarmer

      That exact info is on the Tractor Supply website; but I believe around $9k for the smaller one and $12,500 for the 550.

    No oil filter....?

    • @JoeTheFarmer
      @JoeTheFarmer  6 месяцев назад

      No sir. There is a screen at the drain plug but no in line filter.

    • @weeweed86

      Well that takes this one off the list.

      Pretty common on smaller engines. They are designed that way. But a screw on filter makes me feel oil is cleaner too. Then again, so many machines I have don’t use one. We have an atv like that, pressure washers, mowers, string trimmers, mulchers, etc. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    You should correct inaccurate info that you are giving out. This unit and it's motor does have an oil filter cartridge

    • @JoeTheFarmer

      Have you changed the oil in one?

    • @philipphilip2174
      @philipphilip2174 7 месяцев назад

      No, just what I have learned from other online information. However there has to be an integrated oil filtration system for every internal combustion engine. I addressed this because I am looking at buying one but I don't want a motor without a filtration system.

      All due respect Phillip, the machine does not have an oil filter. When you say I “should correct inaccurate info” that I am giving out; you should be better informed than just saying you have done internet research. No hard feelings; but I do my best to offer accurate and insightful information. I am just a regular guy sharing information and ideas. Hope you find the right machine for you. 😁👍🏼
