@@ludwigtheholyblade8862 testing the damage and poise damage of every moveset and then adjusting the weapons accurately would take a lot of time, not to mention scaling on different weapons and builds. Using these weapons in the average players eyes are impossible considering they’re developers and likely don’t have as much experience playing the game. It’s very unlikely devs actually play pvp to this degree of dedication. It’s in almost every way better to allow the community to do this because that’s the demographic that matters anyways. The only problem is the time it takes to recieve and execute the feedback
Something I don’t see enough people talking about is how the Backhand blades are over-tuned on literally every axis except poise damage.
-Insane AR, and even MORE absurd MVs for how fast they are
-Paired weapon, making weapon buffs even more potent since it effects your “offhand” weapon
-a completely unique running R1 that CONSERVES YOUR MOMENTUM unlike EVERY OTHER RUNNING ATTACK IN THE GAME
-doesn’t suffer from the usual multi-hit issue of the first swipe doing fuck all, making the damage totally backloaded, despite still having a stupidly fast first hit.
-Endlag is a myth
-really good range despite being held with a reverse grip

2. It weighs 2 miyazakis for some unholy reason. For reference, the MISERICORDE, a fucking DAGGER weighs 2 miyazakis.
Any of these things on its own would be concerning to varying degrees. But the fact that it has ALL OF THEM is outrageous.
And that’s not even covering Blind Spot or Swift Slash. Shitters bouta have a field day after watching this one.😭

Oh shit that's true. Makes so much sense. Someone literally forgot to bring all the DLC items up to the latest patch. This would also explain why some of the items feel unfinished in ways like certain incants/weapons or spells not dealing status effects correctly too. I think they really just forgot to update the DLC to the current patch set, it also explains why some armour sets and items can't be dropped in game because they are not correctly added into the game, the game is treating them as unobtainable items.

@@SgtJager00 I just tested this on a faith build based on fire damage. I did 600 damage with running heavy ONE HANDED. I accidentaly one handed this weapon and did 600 per one running attack. The guy was standing in water as well... what is this shit
I just realized something funny. The many people that are using the Backhand Blades only to spam swift slash or blind spot are actually holding themselves back. They would probably be more effective just using the regular moveset lmao.
Its unbelievably oppressive. So much pressure for minimal effort. Absolutely insane damage.

I’ve been saying backhand blades are disgusting even without blind spot or swift slash, best moveset and insane damage. Just you wait until dlc weapon poise damage spreadsheet gets fixed, it’ll be a fucking nightmare.

@@beepist5000 you can infinitely chain running r1s. Endless pressure, dumb ashes of war, really fast, animations blend into each other, weighs almost nothing, can easily benefit from multihit talismans, can be build to one shot. This weapon class is absurd. It is COMPLETELY busted
@zwidowca1 It's the damage and the ashes that make it busted, not the moveset. The pressure comes from it being able to out trade everything like how psss used to be. This thing is out-trading colossals and greatswords right now.

@@beepist5000 it can lose 30-40% of its damage output and it’s still going to be a really good weapon is what I’m saying. I’m not asking to delete the moveset entirely but it’s a really fucking good moveset, can’t argue otherwise. The pressure you can exert with these things is massive, even if damage gets nerfed you still have bleed/frostbite pressure with them. The running R1 says “fuck spacing, I’m roll catching him while getting you on top of him for continued pressure”. It’s really hard to argue that the moveset isn’t insanely strong like idk what else to tell you if you believe that.
That's not even a PvP exclusive problem, backhanded blades are extremely busted for PvE even without Blind Spot or Swift Slash.
They just have way too much DPS
Marika actually veiled away the land of shadow, not for the immense injustice the hornset enacted on her people, no, but rather because their backhand blades were so OP they needed to be shrouded away at all costs
Marika really killed two birds with one stone bc these weapons were mainly used by hornsent swordsmen.
Another aspect is the status buildup. They are multihit and create buildup like crazy

Fun fact: Paired backhand blades have by far the highest guard counter motion value at 96+78+98+100. For reference, their running R2 that is 1-2 shotting here is 50+50+88+88.

It’s not happening… ever. They didn’t put it in the base game; everyone was BANKING (coping) that the DLC was going to somehow completely revamp the mechanics of the base game and add a 6 player world limit/covenant mechanic and we didn’t even get new maps for the arena. Just enjoy it for what it is, because it’s not going to get any better outside of a few patches to fix obscenely broken shit.

As fucked up as this is, i still think the running R1 is worse. The momentum you keep is insane, you can win by just going for drive-bys and they have no way of catching you without hyperarmour.
Any horizontal slash can hit that.
Use Hyperarmor, also it’s the best tool to catch light roller and a nice gimmick for the weapon class

So dumb how damage is balanced between slow and fast weapons. Way harder to hit with a colossal and they only deal like 15-20% more damage a hit. Fast weapons need a damage nerf.

@@pressxfordoubt-x Imo the only problem is the DMG and the little recovery, they have shitty range shitty poise damage and rr1 is strafable. The thing is that even if u can tank with poise they gonna out damage you anyway so mostly a damage issues for me

I thought I could pride myself in the fact that the black steel great hammer is one of the few heavy weapons that actually have enough damage to trade. Then I see that this weapon does 100-200 more dmg and comes out much faster.
1000dmg on a running attack? I only get that kinda damage if it’s a running r2 or a jump attack on the hammer. This is absurd

Was not expecting Cragblade Backhand to go that hard. Backhand needs a balance tweak, of course. The running attack it gets is also pretty unreasonable for the amount of momentum you can keep up with that damage.
The sad part is that stuff like this is what the community would deem as "fun" meanwhile anything else you actually have to work for is considered bad

These are very cool, I almost never used them since I run a strenght build but they're very fun in PvE, probably a bit too strong DPS wise, not very nice to know that in PvP they make literally no sense lol

I swear i feel like the people i invade never act like the ones i see online. They are immediately aggro and spam spells and cheese attacks. Its rare i get a good match. I still win the majority of my matches but its just ridiculous how the playerbase has changed since the old souls days.
I'm an avid fan of invasions, I actually stopped watching your content back in ds3 because you used glitches (estus glitch, etc) but nowadays the state of invasions is in such a horrible state and the game is way too overtuned and so heavily in the hosts favor with almost a zero chance of the invader winning if they just use their favorite build, i have to rework my whole build and play with weapons I do not like to consistently win in invasions, and the fact it's always a 3v1 makes for a super bland and boring experience for everyone involved. Invasions usually boil down to a 4 second fight and that happens nearly every match, I literally can't tolerate being an invader in elden ring with the 4 player max with no change ups anywhere.
270 motion value on that attack... And here I thought that no single move beats running R2 on blacksteel twinblade, with its 240 motion value... but that attack is slower and first 3 hits do fuckall :D

some of the comments during that stream (and in the video) were talking about frame drops on PS4.
I've been playing through the DLC with a friend whom I had given my PS4 to specifically so he could play elden ring, I'm on PS5 (I gifted it when ER came out)
PS5 loads incredibly fast and other than pop-in like grass there aren't any stutters or lag except once in a blue moon.
However the Dancing lion consistently made the game do a little stuttering with some moments like the lightning phase transition.
Despite the load time on PS4 being terrible, after I tell my friend I'm waiting at a grace he says a minute later that the fast travel is still loading and when we co-oped the Abyssal woods boss he'd take so long to load in after the cutscene that he'd spawn inside a hitbox stream of projectiles (or when I'm the phantom I see them A-posing before he loads out of the cutscene)
However He didn't experience any frame drops at all during the Lion fight and has pretty much never experienced any frame drops, lag, or glitches ever so I don't really understand.
Pc Elden ring on the other hand…☠️☠️

Now seriosly speaking, i've been playing with the backgrip swords and i have to say, that they have a lot of potential, even without blindspot or swift slash.
Really light, high dps, nice moveset, and fast.
My favourites AoW to combine it with, are spinning slash, sword dance and flaming strike, i like those because i like the heavy attack, and those combine pretty well on them.
Also looking at the MV spread sheet, its very likely the backhand blades have outdated PS motion value. Instead of 0.9 like most weapons after that one patch, it has 1.0 for the paired attacks. Still, this doesnt explain why its doing 1000+ damage off a running attack, as even if it was only doing 1.8mv like the other weapons, thats still 800 damage - thats way too much for a weapon thats this quick.
This is for its base damage right, the powerstance PvP nerf for 1.12 also hasn’t applied yet.
For someone who enjoys the most realistic weapons, seeing a reverse grip sword being this op hurts my soul in ways i cant describe

It's the running attack that you keep a lot of your momentum on that I can see being nerfed as it does function unlike any other weapon in the game and can allow you to put ungodly amounts of pressure on someone
The running light attack is almost unpunishable .. you can roll straight after. there is essentially no recovery after running lights
And this is why after i finished the DLC i didnt even attempt to PvP seriously despite having PvP'd since the game's release when shield poking and RoB were everywhere lol
(PvE Andy here) I'm all adhd with this DLC - haven't finished it but I have 5 characters in it now. Finally got my pure dex in, wanted to try these because they look cool. Only weighs 2, so I can go big boy armor, insane speed, forward momentum on everything, and the skill is a cheat button. I'm already switching off of them, they're just too much, I wanna feel a lil bit of a threat.

The antskull plates tier 2 hardness counters light weapons like this. What's even more funny is when you shield bash them right as they're using their running attack. Bash then sudden guard counter with my own back hand blades. 😂😂😂😂😂😂

@@lukaogadze5071 basically hardness of shields🛡 whether small, medium or great shields determine which weapons will bounce when the shield is struck. Small shields protect you but enemy weapons don't bounce of it. Light weapons like daggers will bounce off medium shields, and some standard weapons like katanas bounce off of great shields. But the Ant skull plate is above all shields in hardness, as greatswords, great axes, heavy thrusting swords and some great spear attack will bounce off this shield when guarding in addition to attacks from lighter weapons

Basically if an enemy attacks you with a 1 handed weapon, such as the Backhand blade paired weapons, their attack will bounce off the shield, rendering their attack harmless.
I've even seen some physical ashes of war like swords dance bounce off of a shield and the back hand blades guard double attack guard counter is so fast They always get hit once or twice

Use the Branched cross tree talisman. Which buffs running attack damage and you'll one shot them.
Even without RKR backhand blades do ludicrous damage. Your AR may display 600 but then you’ll go and do 700 in a single slash it’s nuts

It's about the same imo, they are using the pre-nerf motion values for paired/ps. Pre-nerf Nagi just needed 2 running L1s as well. These just let you ignore the spacing bug many pvers encounter when trying to pvp.

Truly think the people coming up with all the movesets and values for all the new content are completely unrelated to the people who come later to fix the mess in the patches. Any QA employees? Any sort of basic playtesting of how this weapon works in pvp? Damage is one thing, but it doesn't feel like it has a single drawback. Good moveset, deceptively good range, insane ashes of war, good status buildup. I hope they don't nerf it into oblivion because it is a genuinely cool weapon, but idk what the hell they were thinking with this.
Holy fuck. I practically didn't use them because I assumed they will have the same issue as all one press multi hit weapons: the first attack will suck ass and half the time you will be stunned before you deal full damage. But nope. Full damage, unique good running attack, busted ashes of war, good poise damage, awesome when buffed because it's a paired weapon and light as a feather
I call these the Naruto Curve swords, since it has the running attack and you reverse grip them, looking like they have their arms held back, like a Naruto run.
Wouldn't Pata with Spear talisman be even more broken if not for Swift Slash or Blindspot?

@@marjase9172 counter damage already hits more than just normal attacks, and Spear talisman buffs that for another 15%. I'd say it's still good.
Also, counter damage works on Blindspot AoW.

I’m pretty sure when you invade all your scadu fragments become null, usually not an issue since you shouldn’t be fighting pve as an invader but miqulla is too funny for his own good

I don't see how they can even balance everything out anymore, it's been too long, people invested into these builds and nothing else comes close to what you can do with some of the DLC stuff that is just unbalanced to the point it's broken. Like you either nerf them into the ground and piss people off or you buff everything else so much that it drastically changes the game.
I mean what can they do to stop backhand blade? it isn't an issue of poise, it's an issue of the weapon itself being too good in every other aspect. So they'd have to reduce the damage, change the MV's, slow the attack speed, increase the weapons weight to match other paired weapons and then again look into the ashes of war because they still outclass others.
And that's just this one weapon out of like 10 others...
Did they even playtest this DLC for PvP? Like any internal testing outside of the events they held for content creators because it really doesn't seem like it, half the new spells/incantations are broken in some form, either under powered or outright breaking the game like Impenetrable Thorns killing bosses before they can even go into phase 2.
I seriously question if this DLC was ready for release, yes it was 10/10 story wise and gameplay wise, PvE is always great because the imbalance is less noticeable but now a month later for PvP the cracks are showing and even in PvE I would really like to enjoy some of the new things but they are drastically too weak for me to even care about, even for base game starting areas. Rain of Fire can't even kill trash mobs without great effort to make it work.

This weapon is so stupidly broken. Its too good and works on too many builds. On my bleed build the swift slash instant bleeds if the full swift slash aoe and blade hit. If bleed procs I do about 700 to 1k DMG. On my str/int build, I do about 600 DMG with the cold version and proc frost with just one swift slash aoe usually doing over 1k in dmg. The running heavy is also just way too strong. one of the few weapons that can catch light roll and it also does way too much damage. The running heavy always hits for 500 to over 1k DMG depending on the setup.
Also how much more damage do the better greases do?
