Yay! This is the 3rd time in recent months someone has mentioned Love and Logic. It's older and yet I also have found it to be super useful and the most aligned with my own philosophy. I do hope more teachers discover this resource.

On the subject of stopping and starting the lesson for behavior issues, I have been working hard to stop talking anytime students are talking. If a student begins talking to a neighbor while I am giving instructions I try to stop and wait. Usually it doesn't take long and I try not to glare at the talker (although, with a mask on, I fear they don't see whether I'm smiling or not). I just don't find it productive to keep on giving instruction when students are clearly not listening. For many years I found myself raising my voice louder to be heard. It didn't make a good environment for music learning.

Yes! This is a good point too. Several years ago Jennifer Gonzalez did an episode about students talking and I found it helpful: www.cultofpedagogy.com/student-talking/
      Thanks for watching, Michael!
